What's Your Opinion?
A clever person can tell the sex of a budgie at only a few weeks old, you just have to know what to look for!
-
More Budgies?
Also you can sometimes get aviaries with a metal base or you can put a false floor of bricks in them so that they are portable

Ooo, I'm Grumpy!
Spoke to my OH and he reckons the guy's trying to take me for a ride. If it comes to it and I can push pick up back a week or two I might be able to organise it for when he's in town and he's over six foot tall and built like a brick sh*thouse (there's one for you Elly :bliss: ) so he'd be good back up

Ooo, I'm Grumpy!
Ebay said I could open a dispute and they would force him to accept my offer or he would risk repurcussions from ebay BUT I still have to make the scary journey to Geelong and face the bloke to pick it up

Bourke Parrots
Not likely many here would be able to answer your question Timbo, might be best to ask on a general parrot forum

Ooo, I'm Grumpy!
The thing is if it was something I could get posted I would happily fight it but I'm gonna have to go and pick it up off the guy, which is kinda scary as he may get kranky with me He is probably a builder or something and he would have got this all for FREE as it is used to protect building wood during shipping so he should be happy with whatever he gets for it

Soft Shell Eggs
okay so the long and short of that article is: Natural light is good and sunlight similiar lightglobes/tubes are good but too much of either is bad

Ooo, I'm Grumpy!
Can you guys have a look at this ebay item. I bid on it based on the assumption that it was for the stac shown in the photo and nowhere in the ad does it say the price was per sheet, is that the impression you guys get from it? Now that it has ended the bloke has sent me a message saying "I hope you realise the rice was per sheet " I certainly won't be paying that per sheet, I could buy new for that price :yelling: Item incase it doesn't work, item no: 290262540220

Babies From Cold Riga
Issy that only applies in adults and also in certain mutations it is not true.

Fledging Chicks
Hey AV, my crested cock has decided seed as bedding is a great idea, he's picking all the millet out of the seed bowl and dropping it in the nest box

Soft Shell Eggs
But they don't need UV light to warm them up, that's why we can use a normal lightbulb as a basking lamp, they do need a UV light though for exactly the same reason as birds do, for vitamin D. In my reptile set up I use a flourescent UV tube(which doesn't release much heat) and a normal light globe for warmth Those snazzy Arcadia flouro tubes recomended by some of the big breeders are I believe similiar spectrum to sunlight, so they would include a UVA and UVB component I would imagine

Soft Shell Eggs
Can anyone tell me why a UV light won't work? We use a UV light to mimic the sun for reptiles to allow them to generate vitamin D so why are birds different? Thanks

More Budgies?
Actually Clancy you should have MORE nest boxes than pairs, preferably about double the number
-
Fledging Chicks
Yes Once they are eating it that way I put it in a shallow dish on the floor for them and then take that away so they only have the regular dish
-
Fledging Chicks
I'd love to go have a look but can't afford to for a few weeks so I'll have to see what he has left by then
