  1. There is always the option that if you feel Molly has enough you can take out the last couple of eggs she lays to keep the numbers lower.
  2. She is moulting Perfectly normal
  3. If you candle them now the first one atleast and maybe the second should be starting to show signs of viens growing. If not then you can probably safely assume that atleast the first one might be infertile and you could probably take the risk of adding an extra egg or two.
  4. CHICKS UPDATE! 3 hatched today! One to pair 3 the green pair, one to the crested pair and one to the pied pair The silly ino hen isn't sitting well and the eggs were cold again when I checked them this arvo and not fertile so I've removed them to try and encourage her to lay again, might foster the first couple she lays under another hen if she doesn't look like she will sit well again. Ozzie who lost his hen is thankfully showing no signs of canker so in another two weeks if he is still healthy then I will start thinking about a new hen for him. The egg from the fallow cock who died is still looking good and will hopefully hatch in the next few days, his hen is sitting on three other eggs, none look fertile at this stage.
  5. Budgie club of vic If the breeder has just ordered number rings rather than personalised you would have to call them to get the breeders name
  6. You said that you took the nest box off this pairs cage, why is it still there?
  7. I assume this is the pair that you rescued and took the box out of the cage
  8. Have you candled Molly's current eggs? How many does she have at the moment? The eggs may not be viable if they did drop all the way of the perch but if she just layed them on the floor you might be able to save them
  9. Hey Jimmy, if we can organise to get them to the airport one time when my other half is travelling form Sydney he'd be happy to cart them down for you/us He flies about once a month, next trip down will be the start of December now. Unfortunately he can't pick them up as he only has a motorbike but if the breeder is near the airport and doesn't mind meeting him then we can probably make it work It wouldn't cost anything either for shipping as through east coast airports they can travel as part of luggage allowance.
  10. there are some breeders who maintain breeding colonies of them which are from stock which has been in captivity for a long time(before it was illegal to trap them) and keeping them seperate, I would be going with one of these breeders if you can find one
  11. You can think that if you like Jimmy, we are in the middle of Melbourne and had two tiger snakes last summer
  12. here it is: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....148&hl=bush
  13. No Neat a red belly could not eat a chihuahua cross, unless it was some sort f mutant giant red belly It is poisonous though so if it bit the dog things wouldn't go well, if you see any signs of the dog looking listless then a trip to the vet urgently is in order.
  14. Yes bush budgies are a seperate thing. They are much smaller than a regular budgie. If you do a search in the photos page there is a discussion of them there which has a photo comparison. I have a single pair which I wish would breed for me, they don't seem keen to settle in a breeding cage, maybe a factor of them being less domesticated How much are they tryng to charge you for them Jimmy? Don't let them charge you an arm and a leg

Where in Melbourne are you? I'd be happy to help out with some housing for your budgies. I actually have a box which already has wire on it which you are welcome to if you like. It just needs the doors cut
  16. Nah, we can just keep a steady supply of hens up to him here Plus unlike Maesie, who is restricted by her living arrangements, I have a few more housing options for him :party0011:

I have a dilute hen sitting at the moment Her chicks will be split for dilute and split for fallow
  18. I know exactly what you mean THK, I have one with brown hair, brown eyes and light olive skin and one with blonde hair, blue ees and very pale skin, we joke that he's 'the posties' since he is so different from the rest of us It does show though that no matter what you expect there will always be the exceptions to the rule when strange genes crop up from generations back. Looking at those birds though Kaz I would say there are no strange genes there, looks just what you would expect from such a nice pair :party0011:
  19. I'll pick him up ntomorrow AV and we'll see what happens. He's opaline so not really my thing colourwise but I might use him for a round or two if I like him and then if you want him he can head your way to check out the hens in your neck of the woods :party0011: It'll be kinda like a Contiki tour

I don't hand raise them, I parent raise them and handle them from a young age, they also get handled by my little boy as well (he's 4) so they are pretty well used to kids too. I find this is the best way as they don't develop any of the bad habits that handraised birds sometimes get but they are still quite sociable. You can expect them to be a little shy for the first week or two when you get them to a new home but they generally settle down after a bit of TLC :ohmygod: I am located near Heidelberg and if you give it about three or four weeks I can give you an idea of what chicks are hatching and you can come and have a little look if you like I can possible help you out with a cage to borrow for quarantine if you like too.

I will have tame babies at the start of December, which is a pretty good gap for taming if you are interested. I sell tame babies for $20 each :ohmygod: I will have some ino babies, definately lutinos but maybe albinos if my male is split blue. That would give you two months with just Skye plus an extra month while the other is in quarantine for her to get used to you.
  22. I have an Eastern as a pet :ohmygod:
  23. He'll be out of quarantine in time to go into my new set up which I'm rearranging at the moment. It's a little choatic here (as AV saw yesterday) but I got a little more done today and I'm hoping to have it finished tomorrow in time to go and pick up some birds from AV as well. When I'm finished I should have space for one more ank of four breeding cages so he'll be a happy boy :ohmygod:
