  1. Give her time... she will come out eventually. I'd be waiting for it and/or offering treats (as you did) rather than yanking her out into the wild scary world. She will decide to check things out in her own time, she just needs more
  2. Yeah... :hap: ... Hopefully they'll all pull through, along with all of the other sick budgies! It's so stressfully
  3. Thanks Little one... I do find confort in seeing the earlier ones get better... gives me hope for the ones not so good now :hap:
  4. Bargain! I'm sure Shandy will love it. 11 days... so close
  5. Good update! An hour? You poor thing. You'll love your new investment of a net!!! I can only catch my budgies by hand when they're sick. I'd have no hope without a net when they're fit and healthy!
  6. They're okay... Crackle and John (inside in hospital cage) are fighting heaps... guess that means they're getting better. Mostly, they look okay, but John's tummy is still a little fat (however she did get sick after crackle. I'd like to move them outside to the avairy and bring two of the others inside (recently became sick) as they seem to need the TLC more then Crackle and John. All six are being treated for the same illness, so I'm not too concerned about that. My only issue is the one of my pairs (crackle and Tweet Tweet) feed each other. If I return Crackle to the avairy, won't Tweet Tweet give her HIS dose therefor leaving him with none and giving her double? ... Their meds have untill Saturday untill they are finished (for inside birds) and Tuesday for the avairy birds... Any thoughts anyone? I can buy another cage for hospital care if this is my best option.
  7. Hello and welcome to the forums... I'm sure you'll love it here!
  8. I'm slowly winning the ant battle. I use ant spray outside the avairy and have a sticky bate in my storage room, but the little ***** still run around the inside of the avairy and up the walls. I was reading on the net that you can use cornmeal or cinnamon. I know you use cornmeal in birdie bread, but would either of these be okay to spread around INSIDE the avairy? I don't want to worry about them eating it and getting sick and therefor have to be very carefull about what I use inside... Any thoughts?
  9. So sorry Kaz (((hugs))) RIP little one...
  10. So... update time peoples! Crackle is doing MUCH better. Her poos look prety good, nice and formed, she not fluffed up, bum's nice and clean and seems to back to her bickering self. John, the other inside budgie, was the second one to show the illness. She's comming along nicely too. The avairy birds seem okay. One of them (George) seems to be showing more signs than the others. Time for a hospital cage I think. My question is this... as they are all showing signs and are all being treated with the same meds, can I move crackle back to the avairy, and bring George inside for some needed R&R? Or, would I be best bringing her inside in another cage and leaving Crackle inside? My other question relating to this, is that IF I return Crackle to the avairy, and her boyfriend Tweet Tweet starts feeding her again, wont this mean she gets double the meds and he'll get none... surely that can't be good for either of them.
  11. Thank you so much, yes it is fantastic news isn't it! I feel so much happier having seen a vet about it. I was a bit worried that he would look at me as if I were a fool but he was very thorough and informative so my advice to anyone would be if in doubt go see your vet!!! Yep... agree. If you're even slightly worried, take them. It's amazing what a little piece of mind can do! Sounds ike you have got your self a great vet there too!
  12. Congrats!!! It's so exciting when they start hatching
  13. That's fantastic news! I'm so happy for you both
  14. Poor Smoothie. I hope his broken heart mends very soon! Watch him closely, and if he doesn't improve, please take him to a vet . Good luck and let us know how he's feeling!
  15. WOW Kaz... that little one is just meant to be alive! Best of luck and I hope its foster mum takes as good care of it as the 30*C and seed dish did . My finger are crossed xxx
  16. Shandy... I love it. It definately suits her. Now may you sleep peacefully at night
  17. What a happy little pair! Very cute
  18. Welcome to the forum... I'm so sorry for your loss. I really feel for your family. I would say you have just been unlucky. Budgies and birds in general are quite sensitive, especially to stress and little nasties. If you've only had her for a month, chances are she was carring something when you got her. Budgies are very clever at hiding their illness, and usually when you notice it can often be to late. It's got to do with how they would behave in the wild. If they show signs of illness, they would be attacked by other birds. Your poor little girl was prob quite unwell and unfortunately for you, the vets attention came to late (by NO fault of your own) With your other budgie, watch for a pooey bum. Maybe take him/her to the avairian vet for a check up just to be sure? Once again I'm really sorry for your families loss and hope your other little one is okay.
  19. I can't help you with what they are, but they are very cute! I love the colours
  20. I thought it might be an idea to share your budgie matience regimes... so worming, vitamins etc... how often, how much. This would be very helpfull for those newer members and those needing to re-assess Thanks to those who can share their knowledge!
  21. Firstly, your breeding pair may lay when they have chicks still in the nest, or may wait till they are out. If Mum and Dad are getting cross at them going back into the nest box once they fledge, you could separate them with dad (so leave mum with original nest box). As long as Dad is feeding them, this would be okay until they can eat on their own. If all seems well with mum, dad and chicks, I would leave them and see how they go. The warn % thing is something only you can see (i have it too but you can't see it) If you do something wrong, the mods will give you warnings and they will show up here. If you move your mouse over them it should say .... that means you've been good Nothing to worry about!
  22. thanks Maesie for the suggestions, I couldnt sleep last night thinking about him! Only 13 days to go!!! mmm I know how you feel! Lovett, Roman (romance)... I'll keep adding as they come to me
  23. Oh, he is just adorable! He looks so cuddly and sweet and ohhhh. You're right about the two weeks, it will go slow, but when he arrives it will all be worth the wait! Names... heartly, cupid (as libby said)... it's 1.26 am, I can't think of any more at the moment
