Breeding Early 2008.... With Updates
Great news! Looks like you're going to be kept quite busy! Can I ask a somewhat silly question . What makes hens lay different sized eggs? Is it different hens? I had a hen who laid some big and some small. Does it depend on if the egg is fertile etc... Thanks!

Anatomy Of A Budgie
Any ideas when we can expect to see one in our FAQ section, since my worry is that even this time we may miss this out like earlier. So thought of following up and will keep following on this. If some one directs me, then probably I can privately be in touch with the concerned person. Moderators please feel free to let me know if I could be helpful in some way or the other in preparing this. Congrats Libby, Maesie and Birdluv and happy to see you all as Global Moderators. Thanks for the congratulations! Additons into the FAQ's can take time (depending on what they are and if we have the info already to go) . We will work on getting something in there.

Avian Articulation
'drum roll...........' I'm starting a new monthly competition! AVIAN ARTICULATION This is how it's going to work... Every month I will post a 'word'. It is your task to use it in a sentence in relation to your birds. I'll give you an example: TRIANGLE An anguement was brewing in the avairy about who was going to have to play the triangle in the upcomming musical, Pricilla, Queen of the Avairy. As you can see, you can use any meaning of the word. You can also use variations of the word... triangular etc... The meaning of the word won't be included, it's up to you to look it up if you don't know what it means. Try to be as creative/funny as possible and at the end of each month a winner will be decided (via voting or judging). As February is already halfway through, I thought I'd post an easy word for you all to practice. (I wont be announcing a winner) The February AVIAN ARTICULATION word is: "BUNKUM" ... I look forward to seeing the results!

Georgie Is Flying Wierdly
I'm sorry about the issue with your budgie. Watch him carefully (esp if there are any more signs of sickness) Budgies hide their illness' very well, so if you notice anything, it's more than likely been around for a long time. Best of luck and let us know how you go.

Bald Bottom
I feel for you . It must be terribly hard to know she wont be around for ever. Your courage and willingness to give her the life (however short it may be) that she deserves is to be commended! She is one very lucky budgie! I'm glad her appetite, spirit and manner haven't changed. I believe she knows how much you love her, and knows how much you're doing for her. My thoughts are with you both... xoxoxo

Breeding Early 2008.... With Updates
Some people just don't know talent when they hear it. Sad isn't it! And as to not having company in the bathroom when you shower... I guess it depends on who it is really ... Back to topic... All of my hens have sat straight away also. I'm glad your girls did the same. So the count down is on, 9 days it is.

Breeding Early 2008.... With Updates
Mayb the no singing in the shower is a good thing! 18 days for an egg to hatch is usually from the time the hen starts to sit on them, so if she sat straight away, the 24th it is!

Laying And Sitting On Eggs With No Male
I hope so too. You have been given good advice, so fingers crossed for you and your hen. I had a hen who had problems laying (she was about 2 1/2 years old). She became egg bound and then destroyed her eggs. With a lot of TLC and an avian vet near by, she pulled through. The advice I received from this forum was fantastic. I removed her nest box and I think she laid another 3-4 eggs (which dropped on the ground) and she hasn't had any problems since, nor laid any more eggs. I hope your experience ends the way mine did! Be sure to give her lots of vegies and keep her busy (new toys/foraging toys) Good Luck!
