  1. I'd be inclined to leave their diet as it is... but again, it's up to you!
  2. Hi... I feed my tiels and budgies seed daily and fresh fruit and vegies (as the others stated). They also have access to fresh water (replaced daily), cuttlefish bone, occasional native branches and the odd treat of millet...

No question is ever silly :bluebudgie: I also leave them in there shell... I wash them and either poke them in the avairy bars whole, or cut them up and add them to their fruit/veggie mix.
  4. Thanks all xxx. Back today from the funeral at Moama (NSW). A very big few days... I'll post more tomorrow...
  5. Exciting stuff!!!

Hi and welcome. This is a great place to ask ANYTHING!!!! Best of luck breeding the 'breeding pair' you will buy shortly, and the two at the top of your post in atleast another 10 months. I personally wouldn't house breeding pair together as problems can arise from this. It is better for them and their babies to be caged separately.
  7. Very cute couple Sunny. Lets hope they can keep their pants on for atleast another 7mths and don't need to be separated. :bluebudgie:

Nice photos. It looked like you all had a great time. I'm sure it will be very quite without them.

Little bugger!!! Maybe he's camera shy! Fantastic news none the less
  10. I personally wouldn't bother. I prefer to give my birds fresh fruit and vegies... :bluebudgie:
  11. I'm sure progress will happen with you and Felix. Your patience will be rewarded eventually :bluebudgie:
  12. This issue is one of those which will get many different opinions. My birds don't get pellets, and have never done so. I personally believe that 'wild' birds don't get pellets and that's why I don't feed mine them. Although wild birds do get more exercise, my avairy birds have plenty of room to fly around. I always offer them plenty of food alternatives and they seem pretty healthy to me. It's totally up to you what you decide to do, this is just what 'I' do. Are your birds overweight? Is this why the vet asked you about their diet? If I were you, I'd listen to all of the advice... avain vet, members here etc... and then make you own decision based on what YOU think is best for your birds. :bluebudgie:

What healthy, strong looking hens there KAZ. Very nice :bluebudgie:
  14. No probs! Well done by the way. I always worry my instructions will be hard to follow. . It helps if the pics are in your actual post as some members can't be bothered clicking on a link and waiting for your picture to load. With it already on the post, it makes it eaiser for us lazy ones :hap: Your bubs are very cute too! I'll leave someone else to comment on the colours...
  15. Seems to be, yes. Makes sense when you think about it I guess
  16. ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!! Esp the big hairy ones!!!
  17. :hap: :hap: ... BOYS!!!
  18. or maybe there was a family of huntsman that lived on it and they came out at night... I'd definately be moving as far away as possible too!!!!!... Interesting info there too... never thought of that.
  19. They do do some weird things. I used to cover the front of half of my avairy in winter, to provide more shelter from wind and rain... that was until I went down there one very cold, wet and windy night and found them all on the wire of the uncovered section... clearly not worried mmm
  20. Nice birds there Wayno. Your pics are fine. If, however you'd like your actual pictures to be visable on the post without having to follow a link, you can resize them in photo bucket to 320x240 (website, email). To do this click on edit above the photo you want to change, then the resize tab... this will drop down and provide you with several options. You can also upload your photos in this size to begin with. In the top right hand corner (above where you browse for your pics) there is a heading: max image size. Change this to 320x240 website, email. This way all the images you upload will be this size and can be imported straight into our forum. From here, to add your picture to your post, copy and paste the IMG code... and wella. Your image will appear in your post and be the correct size. :(Laughing out loud):
  21. Thanks everyone for your kind words and thoughts. We had a call from my grandpa today. He has to make an appointment with a specialist in Ballarat, so until then, it's wait and see. He seems quite positive though. Being 88, he is very much of the belief that he has had a good long life and that when it's his time, so be it. He's such a lovely old man! On sader news, Archer's funeral is tomorrow. I'll be off to babysit my niece whilst my sis and bro in law are there. I won't be back until Tuesday. Thanks again EVERYONE!!! xxx
  22. Below are two links to out FAQ's that might help you. If you're unsure about something, you could always do a search on it... (eg. type in banana in the search box-top RHC) This is a link to our FAQ's about how to get your budgie to try new foods: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en This is a link to our FAQ's about Fruit and Vegetables http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en As for my birds... They LOVE corn, silverbeet and apples (no seeds of course)
  23. Hi. I'm sorry to hear Oliver is have issues. Although an Avain vet is prefered, a normal vet may be okay. You could try calling them and explain your problem and see what they have to say. I am also not a vet, but I would 'guess' they would take a skin scrape to look at under the microscope, and possibly blood for further testing if this shows nothing??? Once 'illness' or a medical condition is ruled out, other solutions/ideas could be of use... distraction techniques(if it's stress related) etc... Good luck and let us know how you and Oliver get on.
  24. That's fantastic news!
