I tried the link but it came back with an error message Opps... It works now. Nice looking birds there

Not sure on that one Bec, but have fun at Bunnings. I LOVE that place
  3. Hi Samantha and welcome. I haven't much breeding experience, but you've come to the right place for advice. Good Luck!
  4. Too cute for words ... as to their chubby tummies, a few weeks in a 'not so good' paddock, and they'll be back to their normal selves...
  5. Yeah!!! Sounds like fun. Have an awsome time.
  6. You wouldn't want your mate above you to fart would you! The avairy looks awsome Bea. I bet they love it. I enjoy doing an overhall and taking everything out. I hope they appreciate all your hard work... it looks like they do! Well done 'clap clap'
  7. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Whitie is adorable. She's a lovely old darling... Henry is a spunk too! All mine are under 3 years old, so I don't have any pics to add here, but I look forward to see all of the older generation popping by to say hello!
  8. Your poor babies :hap: . Lots of flight time, healthy food and love from you and I'm sure they'll be back to their trim selves in no time. Try not to feel guilty, they'll be okay. You have a great heart and I'm sure they know that. (as do all the other animals you've been helping whilst working at the vets) ((((hugs)))) from me :hap:
  9. You don't happen to be a cricket fan do you? I thought Punter might have been named after Ricky Pointing... with the yellow body and green spot? :(Laughing out loud): Go AUSSIES
  10. Oh Liv, what a decision to have to make. I'd agree with Kaz and Libby on this one. If she seems fine, I'd let her be. Whitie is a sweetie and it looks like her toy boy is doing a great job of looking after her in her later years. Him feeding her, preening her, keeping her warm etc... is prob making her life all that much better and eaiser. I don't think you should feel bad about letting nature take its cause. I believe, that if there does come a time, when she is physicaly unwell, you will know in your heart of hearts, that it is time, but for now, I'd leave her with her family. Stress for any bird can kill them, and for your old duck, I think it would be the end of her... Bless her dear heart and hugs for you and her. xxx
  11. I think I've heard of something like that... run out of money... you're not spoiling him are you!!! What a lucky boy!
  12. Oh no, poor little thing . I'm no expert, but it could have been the result of a knock to the head when young. It might be nerological (not sure of spelling), and she may not be able to stop herself doing it? If she was mine, i'd take her to the avian vet, just to do some tests to make sure there was no underlying illness (even though she's not showing any other signs). I know that would ease my mind. That way you and your adopted mum would know for sure whats up. Just my thoughts... Good luck and let us know how she gets on... Thanks Maesie. I had thought maybe it might have been some 'brain' thing - saves me spelling the neuro word. 'Mum' thought it may be Parkinsons but not sure if birds get that or not. I would have said the DT's if it had been a drinker! I think 'cos it's been going on for so long now and Shakey seems to be in all areas normal, that Mum is not overtly worried - thinking maybe it might be just a 'nervous' condition, given the way the parents were toward it. We may need a bird psychologist! Off topic for a mo...I've sent you a PM. Hope you don't mind. Thanks again I was thinking DT's to... but I must say I've never seen a budgie drinking a stubby... .... If all else is well, she probably doesn't even know she's different! Just tell your 'mum' to give her lots of love and I'm sure she'll live a very happy life, esp with you and your 'mum' around. (I got your PM too, don't mind at all. Thanks so much)
  13. Thanks Maesie, I will have tons of pics to show you when I get him!! In the meantime, try to keep your chin up (as hard as that will be). Thanks Luv... will do my best... I'm focusing on the good stuff, like the arrival of your puppy and Kaz's new cats etc... Life can be very very cruel at times and some things we have no control over, so yes, try to think of all the good things that have happened to you in your life and dont dwell on the not-so-good. Thanks so much for your kinds words... xxx Bring on Shandy!!!!! Wolf wolf I'm sure he'll love it at your house! Make sure you have one of those ticking clocks to put in his bed at night. When they're little the sound of it reminds them of their mothers heart beat and can settle them at night.

I usually buy my breeding boxes from the pet shop. I'm not sure of the exact size, but they are made specifically for budgies. One of the more experienced breeders may be able to give you the exact sizing.
  17. maesie replied to Shan's topic in Breeders Discussion
If you are breeding with just one pair in a cage, you'll only need one breeding box. If you were colony breeding (in an avairy with many pairs) you'd need more boxes than pairs so they can pick the one they want. As you are starting out, I wouldn't recommend colony breeding as it can result in fights and the death of chicks etc...
  18. Whooooooo hooooooo!!!! So excited for you and your family and I can't wait to see photos when the little one settles in :(Laughing out loud):
  19. Thanks everyone. We didn't even know him, but it's still very hard to understand why? His family is understandably devestated, unconsolable and unable to deal with it. I feel so sorry for them... My Grandpa is physically okay, so we just have to wait to see what the Dr's say re surgery or leaving it?! His family has a german background, they're very stubborn, he's lived his whole life on the farm and won't give up without a fight. I have faith that he will be okay. I'll keep you all updated on both him and Archer's poor family... Thanks everyone for your prayers and thoughts. maesie xxx
