Hi, Im New. Owner Of 3 Budgies - First Babies On The Way
Hello and welcome to you and your flock. Best of luck with your breeding, and as Kaz said, check out the FAQ's and current/old posts on breeding etc... you'll learn a lot from them. Posting pictues may also help... of your birds and your cage setup etc... Also remember no question is ever stupid, so ask anything you need to know. Some questions from me... How old are your breeding pair? Did you give them a breeding box and then they starting mating, or were they 'doing' it and then you introduced the box? That's all for now. The more information you can provide to us about your birds, setup etc... the more we can help you! :budgiedance: Enjoy the experience!!!

The Start Of The Road...
Sounds exciting. I can't wait to share this journey with you. Just remember to quarintine the new hen for at least 30 days. I'd hate for Zo to get sick because of something his 'girlfriend' gave him! Good Luck with everything and keep us informed!

Shocker Of A Day
Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. We just had our Pastor around (my parents are quite religious), and found some comfort in his words. However, 5 mins before he arrived, we had a phone call to say that my Grandpa (he's 88) has an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm. It's 6.5cm. They operate when it's over 5cm, but because of his age, they have to be carefull. I'm not sure what they're going to do yet. It could stay there for 10 more years and nothing may happen, or it could burst and he could die tomorrow. Too much to deal at the moment . Thank you again for your wishes and thoughts...

Shocker Of A Day
Thanks Liv and Lonebudgie... I didn't even get to meet him (they live in Echuca and they haven't been down since he was born)... I just feel soooooooo sad and keep just wondering why??? My sister has two kids... one nearly 3, and one 1 1/2 mths older than Archer. It's so close to home... Our children are not meant to go before us...(Oh, and he was only 6 1/2 months, not 8 mths old)

Shocker Of A Day
It seems like it's the week of bad news . My brother in laws Sister and her hubby lost their baby today... Archer, who was 5 1/2 months old, was at his first day of day care and he stopped breathing. They rushed him to hospital, but he didn't make it. I just can't comprehend how they must be feeling right now... So, my sister, her hubby and the kids have dropped everything and driven up to Echuca to be with them, along with the family. Life can just be so cruel sometimes. They tried so hard to get pregnant, and now they loose their little fella... I do believe that everything happens for a reason, but I just don't get this... It's just horible to think about it... He was getting christened next weekend too... I just don't know what to say... I feel really drained... okay, that's all from me now... I just needed to share... Thanks.

New Budgie
I agree that 'most' budgie females bite harder then males, but I'd have to disagree with you about cockatiels. I thought it would be the same as with budgies, but my poor fingers tell a different story!!! My female tiel Bertie, nibbed softly and then didn't bother, but my male tiel Ernie, was determined to amputate any of my fingers he could reach!!! OUCH. I do however, believe that every tiel/bird is different, and therefor it is impossible to tell who will/won't bite. I guess it's a general 'rule of thumb'

New Budgie
Hi and welcome to you, your sister and her budgie. Bec gave some great advice... there are some great tips on the forum about how to train your little one. If they are young, you shouldn't have any problems! Enjoy... (and yes, we LOVE pictures too)

Crackle's Not Herself...
Yeah Bec... I've finished their course of antibiotics and they're all back in the avairy. I'm keeping a close eye on Georgie as she was the last to show symptoms, but they're all looking back to their unsocial happy selves, normal bums, feathers etc... (my fingers can now recover!) Tomorrow is the big clean out. My normal routine is pretty full on, but I'll be removing everyone (i have leather gloves for the biters (((ernie)))), and the avairies are getting a big scrub down with a special cleaner, then a double rince and replacement of perchs and toys (cleaned or replaced). I know they'll all hate me when I take them out, esp the tiels, but they'll love a spotless and 'new' home! Thanks Bec and everyone who gave me advice and calmed my nerves when I was worried about them. Crackle and co also say thanks for your good wishes xxx

Birdie Music Vids
Great distraction there Bec (and family). They are brilliant! I love the way Skittles turns and shakes on queue, and Bumblebee's close up's and bobbing to the music...

Good Seed Mix.
I do the same thing Bea, we have alot of rainbow lorikeets and red-rumps around and it is great to watch them. Me too... we don't have birds as pretty as that, but they're still 'God's birds' (as my granny calls them :(Laughing out loud): )

Aviary Conditions Over A 12month Period.
Great lot of records there Daz... Good Luck with figuring them out

Green Poos
Sorry to hear that. You've done some good things thus far. Keep her covered so it is dark, and also put a lamp over the cage to keep it warm. You could even give her a drop of liquid calcium on the beak (sometimes this can give them a little boost). Is she eating and drinking? Possibly give her some millet, as mine usually eat this even when they're unwell. Good luck and please keep us updated! xxx

Good Seed Mix.
When you say they waste alot of seed... how do you mean? Could you try serving it differently. I used to have my seed in a plastic bird feeder. It has slots down the bottom and when the budgies peck the seeds out more come down. I wasted very little seed this way. I also usually buy my seed from Iversons (local Geelong shop), and have done since I can remember. I find it to be of great quality and price for the size of the bag. Hope this helps!

Do The Budgie Puzzles !
I have a laptop, so the mouse is on the touch pad but I do have a normal one I plug in for him. I can't count number of time I had to find the cursor for him (he'd moved it off the screen and couldn't get it back :hap: ) The older generation!!! (Laughing out loud)... Gotta love em!
