Apart from looking hot... they look like they'll enjoy their new abode! They wont know themselves
  2. Oh, he's very cute!!!

Poor you... You need one of those electric pencil sharpeners, where you push the pencil it and it sharpens it itself... I could just see Sky playing and eating, and then flying up to the shapener for a quick trim He'll just need something else to do his 'hair' and his nails and he'll be done :(Laughing out loud): ...Every one will start bringing there birds to you for a beak and nail trim. You'll have to start charging. When you say fast, what are you talking???
  4. We seem to go out of our way for our loved ones :budgiedance: ... but I wouldn't have it any other way :hap:
  5. Hi Tamara and Coco, and welcome to the forum and the 'world' of budgies :(Laughing out loud): I agree with Elly. It would be a baby because of the bars on it's head. Please post a picture if you can, we LOVE photos... esp bubs :(Laughing out loud): . Check out our FAQ's at the top of the forum. You'll learn heaps from here, and feel free to ask ANY questions. Enjoy!!!
  6. mmm... if it says on the bottle to do both I'd keep it up (the seed issue is most likely unrelated) How many days have you got left? been medicating for 3 so 2-4 days left I edited my other post whilst you were writing :(Laughing out loud):
  7. mmm... if it says on the bottle to do both I'd keep it up (the seed issue is most likely unrelated) How many days have you got left? (just re-read , you've done 3 days) Maybe continue both for two more days and then the last two days just in water. I'm no expert though... mayb see what the other say. If it's working though it must be good. You also don't want to stop early. Like if we're on antibiotics and we stop before our tablets are finished, we usually get sick again!
  8. If you are medicating by mouth I wouldn't also do it by water. You might be overdosing them. If you are giving them the required dose via beak (following the instructions on the bottle), you know they ARE getting it... as opposed to via water where you never know how much they are getting. The regurgitation of seed can happen for a number of reasons. Don't worry to much but keep an eye on him just in case it happens again. I'm glad they are looking up :(Laughing out loud):

Look great Bec...pity about the fernery though. I guess if it means you'll get a bigger one in the long run it's a win win situation! Your birds are going to LOVE the space .....keen to know your parrot of choice also!.....
  10. There is a difference between how many budgies will FIT in a cage and whats more SUITABLE for a lifestyle for two budgies. A cage can never be TOO LARGE however very often a cage can be TOO SMALL. Agree Kaz! Regardless of how much 'out of cage' time they have, you've gotta look at it from their point of view. Even if you 'say' they'll be out all day everyday, there will still be times when they aren't, and if it happens a lot, this will lead to fighting, illness and unhappy birdies .

Hi Max. I was re-reading your previous post (quoted below) and I notice you said you don't have the money to take your bird to the vet... Please, please, please reconsider breeding until you have the funds for any 'unplanned' problems. You may be one of the lucky ones who breeds with no problems at all, but there are many things that can go wrong with hens and chicks, that require vet treatment or result in death, and I'd hate for something to happen because you can't afford to get them the proper treatment. I don't mean to sound bitchy and am not trying to put you off breeding altogether, but this can happen. I'd also be researching heaps!!! (something members here can help you with). That way you'll be prepared for when breeding does begin. Good Luck when the time is right
  13. LAZY!!! My tiels are like that too, but my budgies will ONLY eat it on the cob... grrr. I'm sure they're only doing it to make my life difficult You'll get there, just keep trying different stuff. Mine also like silverbeet, carrot, lentils (soaked and cooked). It can be trying and a little wasting (esp when they don't touch it and it ends up going on the lawn for gods birds) Pika, I've seen them too. Both make a good serving suggestion. :(Laughing out loud):
  14. could be a challenge...

Sweet! I love the "NOT" napping ones. You can just hear her saying...'if i move very, very slowly along the couch I can fly off and mum won't even know'...
  16. Sounds like someone's keen! Maybe Big Vinnie is seen as the 'hoff' of the budgie world!!! :fear mmmmm
  17. maesie replied to Pika's topic in Budgie Pictures
What a little cutie... looks like a very special jewel!
  18. I sometimes do that too deb, but as they fly around like manics, it goes on the floor... and I like to make mine 'work' for their food . Yeah Libby, reminded me of those kongs too. My sister's dog has one!
  19. NICE!!!! Thanks for that. Love them all... but Banjo's a sweetie :budgiedance:
  20. That's okay... round post/stick are the same thing in this instance as she needs to grip both. I just mentioned it because in your earlier post (below) you mentioned it. If she's doing okay now I wouldn't worry but if it was to get worse you could consider it.
  21. Hi and welcome to you, your son and your budgies. You'll love this place, a lot of members have extensive breeding experience, and love to help when they can. A good place to start is to check out the FAQ's at the top of the forum. You'll find heaps of info there that I'm sure will get you 're' started. However, don't be afraid to ask ANYTHING!!! Looking forward to sharing your experiences with you all. P.S. we LOVE photos here, so feel free to post some pics of your flock.
  22. With Kaz'z video on a carrot eating flock, and a few members asking how to get their birds to try new foods, I thought I'd share this. I bought it at a pet shop, and although it's designed for larger birds, it works wonders for my budgies and tiels. As pictured below, I fill it with grass, but have also used veggies, fruit, shredded paper... the list goes on. They have a blast pulling everything out and dropping it on the avairy floor. The example below was empty in 15mins (thanks Bert & Ernie). I'm guessing some of the food pulled out IS eatern, but as long as it keeps them happy, I'm happy! NOTE: I also found it for sale here: http://myparrotshop.com/hanging-toys/nutcase/prod_161.html for those of you in AUS. These guys are great and I have used them many times. However... browse with care, the site and products are very addictive!!!
  23. Eating the nest box... Sounds like something my cat would do! If she's having trouble gripping her perches, you could try replacing some of her round perches with flat ones (like a shelf). This way she could just sit on it with out having to try and grip and it might give her feet a rest if need be. I know a few members here have budgies with leg/feet issues and have done this. Just to give her an alternative :budgiedance:
  24. I'm sure she'll get over it :(Laughing out loud): Banjo is cute too, and love the name. Do you have any close ups of her?
  25. Looks really good! I woudn't be too happy either been shafted downstairs after living the 'high' life( :budgiedance: pardon the pun!) ... but I guess you have to be fair and give them all a go!
