Kaluah Eating From Cookies Mouth
I wouldn't be to worried, they are just confused as to who is a budgie/cockatiel etc... the feeding part is normal, a pair of my budgies do it all the time. It is great they get along so well. Help, Have Eggs And No Nesting Box
Welcome to you and your 'kids' Linda. Great advice from Kaz there. If your floor is a grate, I'd put something under the eggs... to stop breakage and make it a little more comfortable for the hen... tissue/paper towel??? Just a thought???

My Spaghetti Budgies
'Run of the mill'... comes in handy I love mine just the way they are! I'd put some natural perches in. My birds (esp my budgies) stripped the bark off the ones I put in and now they are all smooth. The advantage of natural ones is there thickness is uneven which make your birds feet adjust accordingly giving their 'feet exercise'. Just check our safe and non safe branches/plants section of the FAQ's and remember to wash them and make sure they haven't been sprayed with chemicals.

New Budgie - Some Advice Needed?
It can be very confusing when you read very different info. Everyone here has had quite a bit of personal experience and not just 'studied' birds, so you know you're geting real life advice :(Laughing out loud): . If he is stepping up already, that is great! He may be a quick learner. The tip is to teach him one thing at a time, and when he's mastered that, move on to the next thing. As to his poop, that's good news also. Some of my budgies get it stuck on their tails/feather etc... but there is usually no issue unless their bums looks yucky and smells (and believe me, you'll know the difference) Your flute playing is probably also relaxing him which can only be a positive thing. Keep up the good work and keep us posted!

Hello
Hi Megan. Welcome to you and Fuzzy Butt (LOVE the name) If you look in the picture above, you can see the bars on his head going all the way down to his beak, this means he is very young. (not sure exactly) Therefore, this means he would be excellent to tame. Check out our taming tips in the FAQ's at the top of the forum. Basically start by talking to him and putting your hand in his cage when he is ready. Don't rush things, work at his pace and enjoy. If he is very young as I suspect, sitting on the floor as in the picture above may be him resting/sleeping? Does he do this on perches or just on the floor. By the look of his antics, he seems to be well adjusted and a real character. Some cage tips, replace his perches with natural tree branches(see safe plants in FAQ's), and give him plenty of toys. Along with his seed, be sure to offer plenty of fruit and vegies. Any more questions please ask. maesie xxx

New Budgie - Some Advice Needed?
Hi Sarah and welcome to you and Piccolo. He is just a sweetie! There are some great hints in the FAQ section at the top of the forum on taming budgies. If he lets you take him out without freaking out, keep doing that. Talk to him heaps, spend time with your hand in his cage, offer him millet (they LOVE it). When he gets used to your hand in his cage, get him to step up on your hand. As to his eating, you often don't see them eat, esp if you just got him, he may be scared. Give him time. As to his pooping, he wont poop heaps if he's not eating heaps. When you say it's stuck on his bum, do you mean dry poop on his feathers, or a dirty smelling bum? A dirty smelling bum is a sign of illness. Try to clean it so you can keep a better eye on it. Give him time to settle in. Sometimes when they are new, they tend to be stressed, eat little and often have runny poop. To help him settle in I would just talk to him and make him feel welcome. Good luck and let us know how your're going.

Chronic Egg Laying + Calcium Supplement
Sorry to hear about your issues with Newton. It can be very stressful for her and yourself. I had issues with one of my hens this year. She was egg-bound with her first two eggs, then lay three, sat on them for awhile, then destroyed them. I removed the nest box and she laid four more (dropping and broken) I was considering further action and then she stopped. I hope you find a solution for your girl. I'd definitely up the calcium and keep a careful eye on her. Good Luck and let us know how she goes. xxx

Over Reguritation
That's fantastic!!! I'm glad all is well for you both. His cage looks fantastic! Just remember to keep things fresh, keep changing the layout and toys around, introduce different foods, and foraging ideas (if it's bird safe and has a hole in it or can have holes put in it, you can stuff it with food) Untreated pine(or other safe wood) if great, drill some holes in it and shove branches, veggies and herbs etc in it. He'll have to get them out and it'll give him something to chew also. Well done to you again on your progress! :(Laughing out loud):

Odd Man Out
Hi Kylie. Welcome to the forum. It sure sounds like you have a busy 'family' there. Re the fresh fruit and veggies, Lisa gave some good advice. My birds LOVE corn on the cob!!! But it will be a case of you being very patient. Try cutting them up into different shapes, and having different colors... so like corn, carrot, broccoli etc... Try a different serving suggestions... a dish, shoved in the side of the cage, on a fruit skewer. It will take time, but the new 'items' will get the better of them. You can even sprinkle bird seed on top of what you are serving to try and entice them. As to evening out the numbers, it would all depend on the size of your cage. What are the measurements? Maybe there's not enough room for three let alone four budgies??? If it is as it appears, and Waldorf is the boss, the loss of his feather may be the other sticking up for themselves? You could consider getting him a mate, but you'd have to quarantine him/her for 30 days, and then possibly start with introducing him/her to just Waldorf and try and get a bond happening there before joining the whole crew together. Does he seem unhappy? Could you house him separately and just let them have out-of-the-cage play together? They would still be able to see each other and talk together, but not attack each other? Just some thoughts... Good Luck :(Laughing out loud):
