My Cheeky Girl
Welcome Digital. Holly is a sweetie. You are doing the right thing with your handling. Just continue to do so as often as possible, and by not reacting when she bites is perfect. She'll soon realise that it's getting her no where and she'll stop. You could try bribing her to come to you with millet, that way when you need to catch her for any reason(bed, visitors etc...) you'll have this little trick up your sleeve. Sounds like you know what your doing already though. Well done and just be patient. :(Laughing out loud): maesie xxx

What Sickness Do My Budgies Have?
Thanks Kaz! I also never thought of the meds in water in warm weather thing. If I had of thought back to my science school days, it would have come to me eventually. Great point and noted into my brain somewhere... maesie xxx

Rspca Called On Me!
Hopefully for you and your Budgies sake, this is the end of it!!! Good on Mozzie though. I bet he remembered what happened last time and just knew who she was working for. The RSPCA do some wonderfull work, and have a legal requirement to follow up all complaints. Unfortunatly, some people complain about things they do not understand just because they have nothing better to do. If only she had come to your door, you and your budgies could have been saved all this stress over a simply discussion. I think some people just like to cause drama. I work with someone like that! It's a pity Mozzie's progress was damaged in the process. I'm sure you'll get back on par soon though. Your sister did a great job dealing with them. Good luck to you both, and the birds and hope you have a RSPCA free future.

What Sickness Do My Budgies Have?
Hi Sammi ... So sorry for another loss. It can very very tough when you loose soo many, especially close together. Eddie, Sammi and Tracey. A suggestion... remove the budgies from their cage, and do a massive clean. Scrub everything, including food and water containers (maybe even replace your water containers if you believe these are the cause of your problem) There are many solutions you can use to clean with. I use vinegar and HOT water, then rinse well. I'd treat them for worms and mites, and possibly even give them some sort of vitamin suppliment. (prob what your dad has bought) Just follow the directions on the bottle as to avoid over doing it. Give them fresh water, seed and plenty of greens. Keep a CLOSE eye on your remaining birds. Perhaps a visit to the vets if you're concerned... Good luck and let us know how you are ALL going... maesie xxx

Seed Junkie
The fruit skewer I have I got from the pet shop, it has a long rod which screws into the top piece(shaped like an apple) and then hooks onto the roof of cage. I often put lots of different fruit on it also. Stops them pooping on in on the floor. You could always make something to thread the fruit/vegies on it, just make sure there are no sharp bits inside the cages and it's stainless steel/bird safe. Good Luck and do as your mother asks Boss!!! They are sneaky little buggers. I had a door pegged shut on a cage once and they pecked them off, openerd the door, and I came home to find them flying around the house!!! grr

Seed Junkie
This is a very common problem. Basically you just have to be patient. Keep offering fruit/vegies daily, try cutting them into different sizes and shapes, have different coloured items so green(brocolli), red(apple with skin but NO SEEDS), yellow(corn) etc... Try ofering them differently, in a bowl (sprinkled with seed), pegged to the side of the cage etc... My budgies LOVE corn on the cob. I have a fruit skewer which I put down the middle, the peck at it and it's gone in no time. Depending on how much Boss watches you, you could eat or pretent to eat them in front of him and he may eat his??? You could also offer him grass. I pick mine out of the garden as I know it hasn't been sprayed. They also like Eucalyptus, bottle brush, grevilla etc... branches. They pull of the bark and eat the leaves. um... that's all I could think of at the moment... I'll keep adding if I can remember any more. Most birds also LOVE millet. It's not really healthy, but they can have it about weekly. Keep us updated... maesie xxx

Well done! It always gets the better of them eventually, and usually when one starts, the others will follow.

Awsome! Keep up with thoses whistles/words, I'm sure he'll be a great talker! They'll be the best of mates, esp with all this separation and need to meet each other. Quarintine prob works in their favour. (Laughing out loud)

Sherbet And A New Friend?
Hi Andrew... I don't know what song you're refering to :rip: But if you've got a male who likes to talk, I'd say yes. You could hum/sing it to them, or burn it onto a cd several times and play it to them heaps. You might get sick of it before them though (Laughing out loud) Just listened to the YouTube thing. Very clever. I think a clever bird can learn anything! YOU just have to work on it

Sherbet And A New Friend?
I've found the wolf whistle eaisest... maybe not for everyone. I think because it's a whistle and not words it may be eaiser for them to pick up. Yeah I would put some toys in there. NOT a mirror at all, as you want him to bond with you, and then sherbet. As for which one... I'd prob go with the balls and bell, but you could put both in if you have the room. The olympic rings up where he's sitting, and maybe balls with bell near the bottom. Might make him get off his butt to check out the bell :rip:

Sherbet And A New Friend?
It's always a good sign if they are chirping. You'll find Fizzy more vocal (being a male). If you're lucky, he'll learn some words too... some good ones to start off with are there names... so his and sherbets, the 'wolf whistle' (pretty easy to learn), who's a pretty boy?, hello sexy... and the list goes on. What ever you want him to say, you can pretty much teach him. If he's a talker, he'll learn them.

Sherbet And A New Friend?
Thanks I hpoe thats the case. I have 3 perches in his cage, 2 dowel and a natural (which is the highest) and l haven't seen him move from it to the food/water containers which are at the bottom of the cage He does like millet though l let him nibble on some earlier - he was quite hesitant, but l waited and he nibbled on it and realised "hey, this tastes good!" They all seem to have a soft spot for millet. If you're worried about the food/water, you could hang small dishes (the ones with hooks) up near the top perch... Give him time though, he'll settle in. :rip: maesie xxx

Sherbet And A New Friend?
Congratulations!!! He is a darling. Fizzy is a sweet name too! I'm sure in time (after quarintine) Sherbet and Fizzy will be best of mates. I wouldn't worry too much about him not eating/drinking yet. He may have when you're not looking. He's prob just a little stressed. You're doing well with finger work already. :rip: Yah!!!!
