  1. Just an update on Scooter... He is doing great, he has been wormed and is looking to be in great health (other than the rickets) I purchased a cage for him today and i pick it up tomorrow. This, but in black. I have decided to select one of my new babies to be scooters friend, so i will keep the cage empty until either Scooter comes out of quarantine, or the baby of choice is ready to leave the aviary
  2. Thats a good idea Tam... I might have to do that
  3. I have heard that the RSPCA don't do much about these "small" cases... they just prefer the big media grabbing ones. There is a vet just across the road from the shop.... i gave them and call and they said they don't deal with birds. It's a big shame... and he is with 6 babies that he is probably going to infect too. I still want to do something for this poor bird... is there ANYTING i can do that won't financially cripple me????? Will his beak continue to grow even if the mites are cleared up? He seems to be able to eat on his own...
  4. I have just done a ring around of vets and they have all said there is not much that can be done for him  They said that He will need constant medical care, repeat beak trimmings. Also he probably has a number of deficencies, and possibly and underlying desease too A treatment of castor oil a few months ago and he would have been fine
  5. There you go NickNack. I am broke now, so don' t ask for any more!
  6. thats what i thought  if i spend the money on his vet bills then i may not be able to afford (possible) bills for my birds ...... His beak is long and thick.... Do you think i would be able to carefully file it myself??? Or Do you think a vet would help me with discount treatment????
  7. This is Chrysocome's "Student Budgie" It's about the same condition as her but...His beak is quite a bit longer .... Woudn't it need vet attention???
  8. I went into a pet supply shop today and they had an adult budgie in a cage with about 6 babies. The babies were fine (for now) but the adult who is a pretty sky blue recessive pied has REALLY BAD scaly face...... to the point that his beek is VERY long and deformed. i can see the mites starting on his eyes toooooooo I just wanted to bring him home and fix him up...... He is basically rotting in that shop He is still at that shop at the moment as i want to see if there is any one who can help me treat him, or has any advice... I have emergancy vet money that i keep for my birds.... but i am worried about using that money for him becuase if any of my birds then need a vet in the next month or so i wont have the vet money any more - I put my flock first - but i also want to help this poor suffering bird What do i doooooo????? I am heart broken

  10. YAY and egg I don't mind about the other stuff, by the way.... I just don't remember saying the 8 day thing. I always thought an egg came about 2 days after mating - hahahahaha Oh, and when you click "members" (up the top) i am the first one on the list
  11. OUCH!! I had to pull out a broken bleeding blood feather once --- It's horrible to do - it was more like pulling teeth then pulling hair. Is the other wing clipped??? Personally i would clip the other wing and s/he might be able to fly a bit better Then they will BOTH grow back with the next moult
  12. "How many times do i have to tell you that Liv's new signature is MUCH better that her old one!!!!!" "Ha! Caught you checking out those Aussie chicks again!!! I am just as pretty (if not Prettier) than ANY birds from down-under "
  13. Yes, i have one of those stores here... i stoped useing them as they put their prices up too much... but if i am getting more seed for my money, rather then weight, then i will use them from now i think
  14. Thanks for that arh yes mase , you always feel like your ripped off when you buy that big packet only to have it half full Yes, but the chips need the air to stop them from being crushed :nest:
  15. Hmmmm... I totally don't remember writting that...... I am a very forgetful person hahahaha :hap: Let us know when there are ---> :nest:
  16. huh??? me.... what did i do?????? Love the egg bum picture - hope your egg somes soon
  17. Having 2 budgies of opposite sex is fine Budgies will have recreational budgie sex anytime... It dosent mean they will produce eggs etc... They should only mate to produce eggs if they have found a nesting site.
  18. It is annoying to think that it's a filler Other than that, the Trill seed is really good - its got a vitamin supplement and shell grit in it as well I buy the 10kg bags and they last 1-2 weeks - I get mine from my local Big-W store and it costs just under $19 per 10kg The 1kg box sounds good but they would eat it in a day or so, so would make it very expensive.....
  19. O.....M........GGGGG!!!! ENVY ENVY ENVY!!!!!
  20. **Liv** replied to Tam's topic in Budgie Pictures
He is a handsome young boy - love his orange face
  21. Thats horrible... not only is the seed poor quality...half of its inetable
  22. Maybe thats what it is - sort of like none of my family (except my hubby) will eat brussle sprouts hahahaha
  23. Thats it!! So it's a filler then :glare:
