Feather Cyst
Poor boy I bet he will be very happy to have it removed. I hope all goes well on Wednesday. White pepper is great for stopping bleeding.

Nightfrights!
I covered the end of their cage where they could see the barstools and there were no night frights last night!!! Thanks AV!! :fear

Oh No!
Thanks Kaz :fear I have been watching them and i think i will reshuffle my pairs as Barney is a brilliant dad, and a calm bird in general so personality wise, he would probably do Lady a world of good considering her scatterbrained temperament and unknown breeding history. He might set her up for good breeding (with better cocks) in the future

Confirmation Of Sex!

Oh No!
Barney and Lady just mated in the aviary!! :fear And they are not a pair that i have planned for. - they could probably have pretty babies though I have planned Lady with this boy Do I take Lady and all my other hens out of the aviary to stop unplanned hanky panky? or will it be okay; are they just practicing with no sperm/eggs because there are no boxes? I am hoping to have them all in cabinets at the beginning of September.

Scaly Face..?
See the blue in the underside of her tail.... That is her natural body colour. a green budgie would be green there also I used to struggle getting greens too.

Nightfrights!
..... mmmm. Now that you mention the blinking lights etc. hadn't thought of that. We haven't got any blinking lights, but we did buy some new bar stools this week which are made from chrome. They could be reflecting some light and spooking the birds. Thanks AV. I will cover them tonight and see how they go

Nightfrights!
My inside budgies have started night frighting a few times a night, every night There is no sign of rodents or insects. Their cage is on a stand about 2 feet off the ground. I don't cover my birds, but i never have and there has been no issue until about a week ago. I don't understand why they are doing it, nothing has changed. It scares the life out of me to wake up to them all flapping around crazy I have been leaving the light on for them , but then they start to sing at 2am What can I do to settle their sleep agian??

Money Saving Tips And Tricks
With petrol prices, large mortgage, increasing food prices etc, our single income family needs to keep to a pretty tight budgiet. We could probably do a lot better if we really tightened up but we try not to waste anything, and each meal we cook we try to make sure it will cover 2 meals at least. We buy specials over full priced stuff. I buy second hand stuff all the time. I am not a good saver though as i spend all my savings on my birds I spend more on the birds than i do on my kids that says something doesn't it Oh and we save money by staying at home and eating home cooked foods. I have friends who spend over $500 every week on food, entertaining and booze

Crazy Bird Lady Strikes Again!
Nice looking hen. Looks unhealthy though. I'd keep it well quarantined from your others. Pet shops are hopless I'm sure your new friends will be very happy with one of your bubs

Scaly Face..?
I agree with Liv and also I think the hen isnt 12 months yet. I agree. I'd say she is about 9 months as her iris rings dont seem fully white yet

Scaly Face..?
She looks like a YF2 to me - not green

Woo Hoo! Its Done
You can give (non toxic) branches from your local trees. Just give them a wash first with water. Some people bake the branches (without leaves) in the oven for about 20 mins to kill any bugs lurking in the wood - but i consider it overkill. If you keep your birds wormed every 12 weeks or so, you will not have any issues

Big Bud's Trip To The Vet
Great Idea Measie You could also take the plastic bottom off all together and cover it with mesh instead. Maybe even the grid in the bottom would fit over the end instead of mesh

Woo Hoo! Its Done
Provided the wood is non toxic, then it looks fine to me Safe/Toxic wood types ----> HERE
