  1. I agree with Elly. For example. If you visit someone who has the flu, you wont necessarily catch it, but if you live with someone who has the flu your chances of getting it are VERY high. I would still separate.
  2. I agree with Kaz - you might have some blood feathers to pull I wouldn't clip his other wing as it will take until he moults to grow back, where the feathers that came out last night will grow back in a few weeks and he will end up uneven again

  4. I agree with Kaz and Neat - Your baby will be fine
  5. I hope one will be disabling the "edit" button for the night so we can all read the uncensored conversation in the morning
  6. Still two hens from me
  7. Keep a close eye. The hen could be attacking it because she may want to start a new clutch.

He is so cute!! I love the little hops he does in the last video!
  13. I believe there are a number of top breeders who take the hens away from the chicks at 14 days and leave the rest of the parenting to the fathers - As horrible as it is, your hen passed at a good time for her babies to have a great chance of survival :hap:
  14. :hap: This is going to be one :hap: thread to read on sunday morning :hap: :hap:

OMG was that aviary you got from ebay crappy in the end Are you still going to paint it purple?? I have just bought an aviary mesh wire from Stratco which is 6mm x 6mm - i'd like to see a mouse squeeze though that! I look forward to following your renovation
  16. I agree, they are looking good
  17. I woulden't make a big deal of it. Just listen to what they say and make your own choice on what you want to feed your baby. Personally i will not feed pelets - mine are out there going bonkers over a plate of vegies and i am pretty sure budgies dont do that over a plate of pellets

Some hens are scatterbrained by nature - Is she an adult? do you know her age?? She might have had previous issues when breeding??? Or perhaps she is ready to breed and wanting to nest.
  19. Hello and welcome. I am sorry for your loss Your babies are at an age which will be fine for their dad to take over the rest of their rearing. Sometimes in colony breeding there will be more than one male that feeds the chicks. Are both males feeding?? Now would be a good day to start checking the babies every morning and night to make sure everything is well. Dont be afraid to pick them up and look them over. Check for poopy feet and feathers. Check for food stuck inside the beak. Check for splayed legs. Keep an eye on their crops (the visible sack that contains their food before it gets processed by their stomach) - make sure the babies have a full crop at least 3-4 times a day. Keep us posted and you are in the right place to get all the help you need
  20. I still think its not so normal for a budgie of only six weeks old. I hope you can post a picture.

That is an odd one. Perhaps she is pretending the seed dish is a nest box and emptying out the content. Hens often take beakfulls of nesting materials and poop out of the box and deposit it on the floor.
  22. How can you tell that one is a boy Liv? Looks like a boy to me because of the white face and i cant see any baring on the tail or wings but I could be wrong - he looks just like my Kimba
  23. HORRRRRAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!
  24. I use the Cascade brand too - it's good
  25. OMG!!!! Congrats Libby and Renee!!!!!!! What an amazing result for first time!!! Libby, dont forget to update your profile info - you are now a show breeder
