A Question Please......
Thanks for the comments and advice. They dont seem excitable and like they are mating, though I cant watch them all the time. They just are very snuggly and its very cute and I was wondering about the possibilities :budgiedance:

A Question Please......
Haha......well I havent caught them mating, just "snogging" alot (Laughing out loud). I would prefer not to separate them, but I will if it poses a problem. I would like them to stay bonded :budgiedance:

A Question Please......
I have two babies who are 5 months old and still in the baby aviary, as I am well aware they are too young to breed yet. They are really closely bonded and from two different sets of parents and I have to admit I am excited about them breeding WHEN it is time. I was wondering though, not that I have seen them mating or anything and they have nowhere to lay if they are, is there a possibility they could mate and she could conceive and become egg bound? This is more a question of curiousity than me actually thinking it has happened or anything. They are just such an in love little couple. Her cere is brown and they are showing signs of wanting to breed, but I wouldnt risk her health and they wont be out of the baby aviary til they are 12 months old. I had to add pics of course....... :budgiedance: Shadow the cock on the left and Indigo the hen on the right. They are in an aviary of babies and they are inseparable.

Orange Peels
And do you need to take the seeds out as you do with apples? Or will they just not bother with the pips?

Snuggles Is Home
I am so glad you guys are all happy and that Snuggles is settling in well and getting better by the day. As I have said to you before, wing clipping is a personal choice and sometimes it is easier for taming and the wings will grow back and you may, as with my Saffy, (parrot not budgie) only have it done once and the bird is so tame by the time it grows out you neednt do it again. Last time I heard from you though, Snuggles seemed to be settling more day by day, so also dont feel as if you need to rush into it, as she will (should) become more used to you and Jess and family every day. I love hearing your progress and as always, I am here for advice and support as are all other forum members

Second Opinion
Thanks for all your opinions. His eyes dont look red without the flash to me. Probably mauve I think. The parents are Gemma and Stormy. She is a light green recessive pied (I think) and he is a normal mauve. They did throw a normal cinnamon green between them in the same clutch. So I guess he must have cinny in his gene background.

Second Opinion
I know the pics arent the greatest, but can anyone see cinny markings on "his" wings. He also has violet on his tummy and rump. Oh, and does anyone else think with such a pink cere, it is probably a he. Thanks I am working with this baby for the next person who wants a hand tamed, cause he has such a lovely nature. I am hoping someone will come along who likes white budgies (Laughing out loud)

Cockroaches :s
solution guys...spray a ground cover repellent...! cochroaches look for shade when really hot,so limit access to the avairy by compying ground provention. think about it roaches are not are worst enemy...far from it....dont bother with baits, thats asking a Budgie to chew it,find their hole and douse it,if the aviary is next to the house check your vents(as its cool and danp there) if so use mothballs in the or around the vents,COCKIES dont like it..lemon juice is also good for black ants

Disinfecting A Cage
From the other post about the budgie's illness, the vet advised her to have the bird put to sleep. So it seems to me it didnt die of scaley face, but the vet said it had beak and feather and that it wouldnt recover, so he/she put it to sleep.

Disinfecting A Cage
I have just spoken to a bird dealer I do regular business with, who has been dealing for over 30 years and he said that he hadnt ever heard of beak and feather in a budgie, that it sounds like it was probably more likely a very severe case of scaley face. He also suggested the best thing to disinfect the cage with is vinegar and hot water. I hope this helps I dont know if a bird dealer's word could be taken over a vet, but they wouldnt have any reason to not give advice on their own experience.
