Smudges And Cloudy
Not sure, I hope she has babies with more cinnamon this time than last, but if she doesnt, she doesnt. I will look closer tomorrow, I put shavings in there tonight and didnt want to take too long, although, I really dont think Smudgie would care, she's a good mum and a pretty relaxed one too After a good rest I would like to try her with my new cinnamon wing sky blue boy and see what happens. Both her and Cloudy have a lot of base white on them.

Gypsy And Tommy
Yes she is, she had five eggs last time with four babies, so that wasnt so bad. She's a very dedicated mum and after this lot will be getting a long well earned rest Tommy is a great daddy too. He looks after her and the babies very well, so it's good she has a supportive partner

Gypsy And Tommy
Gypsy and Tommy have also laid their next lot of eggs. She has laid 7 this time around and has two babies. I will have pics of their babies to post tonight also. Gypsy the hen is the cobalt opaline and of course Tommy the cock is the other bird in the picture (Laughing out loud)

Extramarital Mating
I have had the same thing with a pair of mine. I had a lutino hen and a mauve dominant pied cock. There is only one recessive male in that particular aviary and they produced a little greywing and a baby that I can hardly tell the difference from the recessive pied! I certainly think there has been some tom foolery going on there! hehe

Another One Joins The Flock
Hi Liv, welcome to the forum. I have found people very helpful and supportive here I too colony breed like you and basically look forward to just whatever colours pop out of the box. You have some gorgeous babies, I particularly love the first baby I am often asking questions about colour etc, and people have been very helpful and informative, but I know I cant be sure of my colouring as I dont selective breed. I also dont know the parents of my birds as I inherited most of them with a large aviary we bought. I have had some pretty babies so far also but your first little baby is a colour that I dont have anything like. He/she is very pretty

Colony Or Selective Breeding
I colony breed. I have two aviaries, one with 3 pair in, 2 pair were already settled and they are hens that seem to mind their own business. The third is still dithering about, but doesnt bother the other two pair. I also have a large aviary where I have 16 breeding boxes and 8 active hens at this time. I have had some hens harassing, but anyone who harasses and cant find their own box gets pulled at this time and put into the "naughty hen aviary". So far I havent had any major dramas with my colony breeding. I have one breeding cage indoors which I have put a naughty hen and her partner in, in hopes they will breed as I would like to keep his colouring in my aviary. I check my birds often and I realise I cant watch them all the time, but so far so good. Like timbo, at this time, I dont have anywhere to put breeding cages. My birds seem to be doing well and seem to be happy for the time being. We are building another budgie aviary with a divider, to pull out hens that are not breeding, harassing or that I need to rest and to be able to put the baby budgies in the other side.

Gemma And Stormy
Well her baby is looking very healthy, only one has hatched so far, but it is growing before my eyes and always has a nice full crop when I check in. I am really looking forward to the colouring up of her baby, although I am not sure yet if I will be able to share as my son borrow my digital camera over the weekend and it doesnt seem to be working right now. I have some batteries on recharge and hope that is the problem

Gemma And Stormy
Thank you for your input Bubbles. I agree with you that in the end, its a healthy baby that is important not the colour. I have no idea about the parents of these two, so as you said, I will just have to enjoy the ride and wait and see I guess. It will be interesting! :budgiedance:
