Gemma And Stormy
Baby looked well when I got home from work last night and I had a closer look this morning, though mum dived back in the box as soon as I went into the aviary, being all protective. He has a nice full crop. Daddy is being attentive and feeding too, so all looks well there Gemma has wanted to have babies since we first got her, but took some time finding a partner for some reason. Odd couple, Stormy is a total character and nutter Thanks for asking KAZ And thanks to your response to my colour question pie

Are These Both Girls Too?
I think you are right - just a gut feeling. Today would probably be a good day for pictures outside as it is a bit overcast so the sun isnt so bright. I will try to get a couple when I get home from work

Are These Both Girls Too?
It's hard to get a good picture without a flash unfortunately, their cage sits in front of a window, so I cant take a picture into the light, so I have to close the curtains and use my flash Do either of these pictures help?

Gemma And Stormy
I was mostly wondering what colour mutation Gemma is. Stormy is a grey and they have just had their first baby. Any guesses on the colour of their babies would be interesting too, but mostly I want to know Gemma's colour. Libby did tell me, but I forgot to write it down (Laughing out loud) Gemma and Stormy

Should She Go Back In The Box
I wont be feeding her myself now that Ive seen her eat and I agree with what you have said about the crop needle also. She was the only baby out of a clutch from a large strong mother, so she is very healthy and strong (and pretty hehe). She has eaten off the floor now and is happily preening. I dont think it will be long til she starts trying the veggies as the other babies in the same cage love it when I put the plate down for them Thanks again for the advice, it really is appreciated

Should She Go Back In The Box
Yes she does seem to be sleeping a lot. I gave her some hand rearing food last night, that is as close as I have to budgie starter and her crop felt full. I do have a crop needle, but I havent had anyone show me properly how to use it yet, and I dont want to attempt it on my own for the first time. My son saw her forgaging on the floor of the cage this morning, so once again I have put down the veggies sprinkled with seed and millet and I think I will try and give her another hand feeding this morning, but I think she will do okay I also just put a small amount of seed on the floor of the cage so she doesnt have to try to use a feeder yet. I just fed her a little and put her back in the cage and the other babies I have in the cage are foraging, so she is now eating seed off the floor with them Maybe she just needed an appetite starter this morning

Should She Go Back In The Box
Can anyone help? I havent seen her eat yet, will she get hungry enough to feed herself? She looks old enough to be eating by herself, she is four weeks old.

Should She Go Back In The Box
I brought her in this morning, she is sitting quietly on a perch in a cage with some of my other babies. I made a saucer of lettuce, bokchoy, grated carrot and apple and cut up snow pea sprouts then cut up some millet over it and sprinkled a little bit of seed. At the moment, she is just dozing on the perch, while the others are pigging out. I have to go to work shortly and I worry she wont feed. Is she likely to come down and investigate the food later? I just added lettuce to the mix because I dont think she will drink from the water feeder at this point.

Should She Go Back In The Box
Yes, that is why I didnt put her back in. I will check on her in the morning, I havent actually seen them feeding her, this father doesnt seem as attentive to her as he is to the mother. I have other babies inside, maybe I will bring her in tomorrow and see if she will feed with them.

Should She Go Back In The Box
I posted pics of Prettys' baby in another post. She is four weeks old, but not yet flying great even though she is a strong wel developed baby. I checked on her yesterday put her back in her box with mum. She was out again today when I got home from work, which is fine, so I checked in on her flying and she still isnt getting a lot of height. I thought I better put her back in again for the evening, tho its not the cold I am worried about, more the possibility she's not feeding herself yet, but she didnt want to go back in the box. I didnt want to make her, as mum might not want her there either. If she's not flying properly, should I have just put her back in anyway? They are in an aviary.

He Wont Come Out Of The Cage By Himself
My babies are still learning.....all about being my budgies (Laughing out loud). They wont step up on my hand for a while, we are practising, but I like to let them out for a fly at least once a day. Usually, when they have had their little adventure, they come back and land on their cage, or one will go in and I shut the door and the other one will eventually hang around the cage to be with her friend and they arent too hard to catch at that point. We all have a lot of time yet to get used to each other tho :bluebudgie:

Another Of My Babies
You are right, I am out of the aviary, but she cant fly quite yet. The other budgie I spoke of earlier in the box next door has been close to fledging and so I only photographed her in the aviary and put her back in her box and when I came back about half and hour or so later, she was on the ground and attempting to fly. An hour after that, she was quite happily perched on a branch, but I like to keep a close eye on the babies in their first days out, as soon as I see they are eating on their own I bring them in from the big aviary. The come into a largish cage indoors for the time being, until we have our new 2nd budgie aviary set up. This is Pretty's baby who I speak of

Another Of My Babies
Thanks KAZ, I have another little girl just like her from totally different parents next door to where she is (Laughing out loud). Also a hen I suspect! I dont think I have bred a boy yet out 12 chicks!

Another Of My Babies
This little girl (?) is hard to tell her colouring even to me with the naked eye, so I dont know how much luck I will have with these pictures. The pics were taken in sunlight, but its a pretty bright day. I was wondering if she (?) looks cinnamon to anyone. Her parents are a lutino hen and a grey male, but of course I dont know their parentage. It's really hard to pick if she is grey or cinnamon for me.
