Hi This is Harley and Lucy. They were paired by their own choosing in the aviary, but Lucy was being a pain to one of my other hens so I brought them inside to see how they went. They have an egg! So fingers crossed I will eventually have some babies from them. I would dearly love another Harley and we suspect he is a bit old, so he will be retired after this clutch. Can anyone please tell me about their colours. I know they arent the best pics, its hard to take them close enough inside without too much flash. Also, what are my chances that I might get another "Harley" from these two? Any opinions? Lucy does have the white wing tips, she is not all yellow. Slightly better photo of their colouring as this was in the aviary before I brought them in
  7. Helen of Troy and Joan of Arc?? Oh dear, Helen and Joan budgies? I still like Angel and Nikita at least they are names that can be boys and girls :(Laughing out loud): We are keeping that particular white budgie, that's Nipper, and she has stolen my son's heart :rip:

They are a gorgeous pair of boys :rip:
  9. I have this feeling all four in each of my first clutches might be all hens (Laughing out loud). I would kinda like it if the two with Tommy were boys though, cause my partner describes them "little knights with their armour on" hehe.

Good to know that little bit of info there Kaz. Not that Ive done it, but one of my babies was out of the nest (they are in an aviary though, not a breeding cage) and he seemed to enjoy being out and is fully feathered, but cannot fly well enough to lift, so I put him back before the end of the day. I have been told that if they cant fly upwards, they shouldnt be left out.
  11. What's the chances of getting all hens? Does that happen often, cause from what I'm seeing/learning, they all have that clear pinkish cere and look like hens to me. Not that it matters, I'm just interested
  12. This was taken of the oldest, who has just fledged, on the 23rd of Sept. I dont know if it is any good, I dont have any good clear ones in the last couple of days yet.

Here is proud daddy Tommy overseeing his newly fledged babies
  15. What a gorgeous bunch Libby. I totally have to agree with you about your comment on the last baby. Lock her up, I'm comin over!!
  16. (Laughing out loud) wouldnt you know it, it's the mum that's cinnamon I will try to get some good pics of their ceres in the next day or two
  17. (Laughing out loud) I guess I'm too late to submit my pictures for your guessing. Oh well it's not that important to me, whatever will be, will be
  18. I know that the male's cere doesnt change colour in a recessive pied (well this is what I have been told) so can you sex young budgies from a recessive pied pair, or do you have to wait until the hen colours to tell? I hope this question makes sense Three of my babies are almost white with the tiniest bits of blue on them and the tiniest flecks of cinnamon on their wings. The last has darker heavier markings, not like any of the others. Two out of the four have just fledged
  19. It's hard to get really good pics in that aviary as the sun is either too bright and washes out the camera or its a dark spot and needs a flash. If I can catch them on a lower perch, I could probably get a truer picture. Thank you for your opinions

    Cute birdies
  21. How exciting for you! sounds like Zeus will be "eating out of your hand" in no time!!
  22. (Laughing out loud) sorry Bully is left and Isis is right and it's Isis with her back to us. Thank you
  23. I know Bully is a spangle, but I am not to sure what Isis would be described as. I have just put these two together with my last two pair that have just bred and am hoping they will pair up.
  24. My fingers are crossed for you that you get a good result from the splint
