Enfield Bird Auction
Well I am home from my fiance's with my birds. My must haves.......we (or should I say he) paid for, but I am very happy with them. A few that looked like very nice types that didnt get bids, we decided to pick up for $20 ea. We ended up with 13 birds in all - I think our inexperience is still showing, cause ummm.......11 of them were cock birds, but a lot of the hens we started bidding on went for well over $100 and we werent quite prepared to pay that much yet. I will post pics when I get around to sorting them out and recording them. I think things are going to get a bit more serious for our birds now, as we have a good start to start breeding some nice show types and I have made a few lovely friends in the show biz who are giving me great advice. The auction didnt finish up til just after 2pm and then of course, we had to wait around for our birds. Lucy and her fiance Andrew picked up a few birds, unfortunately, we didnt get to see them. But we caught up with them later at a shopping centre - also buying an extra cage lol It was lovely to see Liv again and meet Lucy and Andrew. We didnt really meet Tam, but I sort of thought that was who was sitting behind me lol I hope to get pics tomorrow, if time permits. I look forward to seeing pics of your birds too Liv

I have found at the last couple of auctions yellow faces have fetched the most money. We will be bidding. I'm an old hand now, I've been to two auctions!! LOL :hap: I go through and decide which two birds I REALLY want and my fiance and I discuss how high we are willing to go and anything that looks nice that doesnt go for too much, we consider also The last auction, anything that was passed in still stayed for sale at opening bid price which was $20.

I have one advantage.........I've met Liv before, so there is one person I wont have to embarass myself by asking a stranger if her name is Liv lol

Claustrophobic Hen
If she is there by herself, maybe she would settle if there was someone else in there with her??

Tame And Very Independent Little One
I have a bird who isnt a budgie, but when we first got her as a baby, she loved to be scratched and cuddled. Now she really prefers not to be scratched, she will allow it begrudgingly, and like Elly said, I have to wonder if some birds grow out of it and just dont enjoy it anymore.

Claustrophobic Hen
I had a hen that when she was in quarantine did those kinds of hang onto the wire type somersaults. They look like they are turning themselves inside out! I hope she settles for you Liv.

Taming Milestone
Thats great news I have found its easier to get birds to trust and notice you if you either cover their cage or work with them in a different room (or remove it like you did). Theyre not so distracted by their "security".

Larger Pet Birds
I have my brats out now, walking all over my keyboard, landing on my head, chewing my hair, my glasses and my fingers. Every now and then, Saffy nips my fingers, and I tell her to "stop it". Not only does she repeat this (repeatedly) but like Ollie, she knows what I mean when I say it. She mimicks me and says "stop it, stop it, stop it" over and over, but she DOES stop biting me as soon as I say those words lol
