That's so gorgeous! I'm trying to teach my parrot "I love you" to indulge myself, but she says lots of things, but that's not one of them! lol

I havent looked closely at their eyes to be honest, I am just excited about having the babies lol Yes, we have one more baby. According to the "laid and due" calendar, the first two eggs may not hatch. Three is a good number for a first time mummy though

From our local bird dealer near Adam's place. He is bringing some more down next weekend, so I will get brand/make details etc for anyone interested then

As I promised Neat, here are pictures of our cabinets that my partner has been making with the plastic nest boxes we are using. This is the breeding cabinet. I have asked Adam to put one perch lower than the other both for the babies to learn to perch and to make sure the bigger birds have enough head room for "romance". This is the nest box with the solid slide down And this is with the solid slide up. Phoenix isnt in the pictures cause she was in the nest box when I took the first one and she popped out when I took the slide out. The clear slide also slides up for access to the box

I think he probably wants to stay out, and if he hasnt worked out the entrance yet, your method of teaching him will make him aware. Believe me, when parrots or budgies want back in their cage, they find the way

    Budgies just are..........MESSY!! LOL

Sounds like you discovered your own solution

Looks great I have trays with a front on them to stop seed spillage..........but it still doesnt LOL
  17. I am not sure on the properties of soaked seed really, its supposed to make the seed softer and easier for babies to digest, that is what I have heard. I actually sprout my seed. I have been told sprouted seed is good for protein and the way I see it, seed that has grown just a little bit is veggies too!
  18. Sounds pretty good to me! Your guess is probably better than mine at this point, but Im getting there! lol
  19. That's what appeals to me AV, being able to clean them so easily and thoroughly between clutches. The ones we have have slides at the front of the nest box, so you can slide the first one up and there is a clear panel behind it so you can see into the box with out actually opening it. Then when you need to have access to the box, you can slide the clear panel up also. Of course, all the nesting material falls out when you do this lol, but the eggs etc would be safe as it has a nice concave in the bottom. It is also vented at the back for air circulation.

Everyone's jaws dropped to the floor in amazement as the room became silent and all eyes and ears were focussed on the Amazing Merlin!
  21. I have pics of our breeding cabinets on my home pc, but Im being naughty and BBCing at work I will post them for you later tonight
  22. I would have assumed so too. We have recently bought plastic nest boxes to attach to our breeding cabinets. I have 3 pairs of large show budgies using them with no problems at all.
  23. Sorry to hear you lost your new budgie. It's distressing and puzzling when they just go for no apparent reason.

Everyone started to tap and tut tut impatiently, not believing Merlin was capable of singing at all!

I think I will do a bit of both. I like yellow faced birds and I really love the markings on Holly and she's a tcb dom pied and there is no place for her type - which is why I got her from her breeder.
