  2. Denise,Are you interested in joining a budgie club,The Geelong club meets, The 3rd Tuesday of the month. There is a budgie show at the show grounds this Saturday,if you are interested to come & have a look,From 9.30 to 13.00 What size are your breeding cages.
  3. Wayno,If your nest box is on the outside of the cage, you can pin it onto the front of the nest box, stick a little plastic envolope on the front & put the card in that.A peice of white board & write on it with a white board marker. :
  4. It is a HE,& looks like a double factor spangle. :bluebudgie:
  5. If there is 7 eggs in the nest & depends on the sort of nest, you are useing. The eggs may be rolling around & getting cold, odd number of birds, not enough nests.Do I need to go on.Ig you want to breed budgies.Make up a breeding pen & nest box & put the pair you want to breed in that pen. :bluebudgie:
  6. Loren,I am 99% sure your budgie, has splade legs.I would treat it as Kaz has recommended & use the sponge to pull the legs together in a few days, if you can arrange for Kaz,to look at it,she will be able to steer you in the right direction.I have had the odd splade chick & doing as Kaz said, the chicks have come good. :feedbirds:
  7. Give it another week & post another photo. There is a different feather direction there. But it dosent look to be a tuffed, half crest or a full crest.I would like to see another photoin a week,to compare photoes. It not a feather pattern I have seen on a crest.
  8. ^Truer words were never spoken Sky,It would be easy on old grumpy bloke like me.If all the ones that come on this forum & others with there flee brain idears of how you look after & breed budgies.Read a book or spoke with a expieaned breeder.I would`nt have to be swearing & curseing at the computer screen. :budgiedance:
  9. If anyone knows of a Aphrodisiac fror budgies, let me know & I can bag it up & sell it. :oliveb: I think we need a flashing sign for new breeders, don`t try to colony breed before reading the instructions, of how to colony breed, better still don`t try. :nest: It not very hard to make up a breeding cage & nest box.To breed yourself some budgies & less hassles& you can pair up,the pair you want to breed :budgiedance:
  10. If he is a old bird, the cere will lose colour.Or if he is light in condition & has worms or some other complaint. Its hard to tell without a picture & even then, might not be able to tell.
  11. She is a greywing.Put her in a cinammon class & you will be wrong classed.
  12. The hen is nowere near to breeding condition & it is pointless puting them in a breeding cage.Just what are you expecting them to do,tricks or something,They don`t need a breeding box to do that.
  13. :dbb1: Don`t be so inpatient, give them time to grow some feathers & all will be revealed,The last 2 photoes looked to be a greygreen & a light green. :parrot:
  14. Iam a bit concerned,he has no tail & flight feathers ,by the look of the photos He might be a runner.(french moult).
  15. What,No interest or no nestfeathers about Kaz. :hap:
  16. If these people were so careing, they would`nt put there pets in the position they have.We give sound advice.,If don`t agree fair enough. But don`t come back on & say,you can`t do this or that, because it is to stressful. We are thinking of the birds, well being & quility of life. So think of the bird feelings & not your own. As the saying goes,If you have live stock. You have sick stock & dead stock & they should`nt have to suffer because, the owner is stressed
  17. Kaz its probily a heavy flecked hen & no dought 12 months old. Do ppl think we have crystal ball, & can see there birds,If they are not going to suplly a photo,How are we going to answer there question. I say no photo or information no answers.
  18. Visual 50%Y/F ? 50% green, & split for greywing,recessive pie. :feedbirds:
  19. G`Day,Slege hammer here.Look I think, this has gone far enough. You are talking about a budgie,4c sake, not a mother to be.Talk about killing a baby. Its not a baby, its A EGG.Sailorwolf, arnt you training to be a Vet.Put the bird in the flight, she will soon forget about laying,if thats what you want her to do.

Yes Splat, you are a clever girl, sexing those budgies, :dbb1: The pm,yes a bit naughty, & it should be okay. :(Laughing out loud):
  21. It is hard to judge, when there cap will break. Some are okay for 8 to 10 weeks. Mine are hatched between the 7th & 16th july, afterb that they are to young for the shield, but okay for our show on the 16th july & second round for ballarat & our agi show,Fingers X. :dbb1:
  22. Splat, are you hopeing to get to the UBC Shield in a fortnight.I have 3or 4 I will take out of the breeding cage today to get them to sit on the perch & not bury them selves in the corner of the show cage. :dbb1:
  23. chick, 1&2 25% voilet blue spangle,25%blue spangle,25%violet blue normal,25%blue normal. chick 3,50% green spangle,50%green. chick,4 25% greygreen,25% green,25% op cinn greygreen,25% op cinn green,
  24. Alex, the cock bird that killed the chick,is it from the box with the 7 chicks. If so I would take the other cock bird out you put in there, because he will kill them .He will look on the chicks as compition to the hen.Murder.
  25. Lucky, you said some had crests.Could you post photo of them.If they are crests they maybe a small bird anyway. From my experince, crests are good mothers & to hatch 7chicks.not abad effort.
