  1. Yes Norm, It`s is a crested Budgie.

I dought, that trill will grow.I think its treated & wont grow.
  3. I use Dulux 101 wash & wear. You can then give it a wipe down & keep them clean. I might be a bit costly, but at least you can wipe out the cages.
  4. An outcross.is when you use a bird, not in the family line.I the case I wrote about. If you put a normal over the good hen that was playing up & it was not related to the hen, thats a outcross.
  5. That is true,if the parents are bad shower. There a fair chance the chicks will be the same& it dosent matter how good the bird is,if it wont show itself,it wont be moved to the top of the line.A member in our club has a line of good, lacewings & they will not sit on the perch. He has missed out on best Lacewings on number of times. The grandmother was the problem,he brought her as a yong bird & breed with her. & anything from her, good birds, but wont sit on the perch at a show.
  6. What did you spray them with,if you havent brought the Liquidator yet.
  7. You need to go to apet shop, that sells veta farm products & get container of .Avian Insect Liquidator.Spray the boxes & the birds & that will get rid of the Red Mites. As it has been said they suck the blood from the birds,The spray will not hurt the birds.
  8. Yeah, cold to touch... I have only been checking the nest box twice daily, same as before. I ended up swaping her eggs for her neighbours eggs (which are empty)... so hopefully the hen who is continuing to sit on the eggs will hatch those. Fingers crossed x You might be lucky, its depends how long she had been off the eggs & how cold they got,if there is no chicks in a day or so.You might be out of luck.
  9. It happens so quick Kaz,They are going okay & in half an hour, they can be scalped,It becomes very trying. In most cases they are the better babys,You will have to put a mark against that hen.Remove chicks at X weeks. :angel1:
  10. Are the eggs cold to touch,if so,she has given up siting on them,Perhaps she has got sick of you looking at them. :budgiedance:
  11. A close up photo, would of been better. The photo a bit far away to see the birds propley.
  12. First of its more then 3 weeks old,if its from a top breeder it would have a ring on its leg,If so the colour of the ring & the marking on the ring.$75.00 might be a bit high.ut I guess thats better then $175.00 : It is very quite,to be siting on your finger.By the photo it looks okay.It looks to have a red eye,if so its a Lutino & there is a fair chance, its a cock. :hap:
  13. Stick some photos on here of the cages on here& give as a look at them. :hap:
  14. I give up,Ill take my ball & go home.All I say its a spangle.
  15. Yes that chick is splayed. But the other photo, the chick appears to be siting okay. But if the joints are red looking it will be splayed Denise.
  16. Its a Y/F .It could be a mauve or cobalt.Photos play tricks on the eye.
  17. I could be wrong,I have been once tonight. But Iam pritty sure there is nothing wrong with that chicks legs.Splayed legs are streight out from the hip.Kaz or someone, will post a photo of a splayed leg chick.
  18. Write 100 times,I must read the full sentence.Y/F blue is correct.Makeing a excuse for my self. Not expecting, anyone to put down Y/F greygreen.Should never take anything for granted.
  19. Denise,Are you sure, there legs are splayed.Could you put a photo up of the chicks. I just wondering if you might be,being a bit over corches.
  20. You both can go to the top of the class,
  21. Denise, another way of doing it is to put another ring on the other leg & tie the 2legs together with the string off feed bags or cotten. You will need to use a split,if you havent a split ring, just cut a ring open & use that & close the ring around the chicks leg.O~O the 2 rings & the string inbetween. If the cock bird is throwing out the shaveings, throw him out &leave the hen to look after the chicks,
  22. I have never hand feed a budgie. If I have no foster pairs, they don`t live. Because as sure as God made little green apples,I would kill them trying to feed them.I have crop feed, drenched, grown birds,But not babys. :hap:
  23. No they don`t have tobe tame,as in they don`t have to sit on your finger. But they need tobe trained to sit on the perch in the show cage & show themselves off. That the secret, that they hold themselves in the show pose. Most budgies will display themselves in the show cage & the one that is the closest to the show standard, usely wins. I guess this is as clear as mud to you at the moment. But if you join a show budgie club & become a member, you will receive a beginners manual & that will help you, understand the art of showing & talking to the experenced breeders,in how to breed & prepare a show budgie. There is breeders on this forum, who will no dought be able to explain it better.I know what is needed to breed & show budgies. But not able to put it down on paper. :hap:
  24. If I was you I would take out all the nest boxes out the aviary,if not take out the budgie & put them into breeding cages. It will save you any hassles. :hap:
