  1. Denise,Are these the birds you brought a few weeks back,if so what is the ring code.
  2. Norn, Have you read the Joe Mannes,Budgie Bible. He never mates 2 of the same colour together. Norm Iam not thinking pet breeding.Iam breeding for show & would`nt mate him to a blue & not to a opline, any spangles would be down on wing markings. This is only my opinion,I know 95% of the ppl on this forum are pet breeders & put any 2 budgies together & hope for chicks. But would`nt it be good if they breed to try & improve there lot. : Spoken by Macka, for the better breeding of Budgies. :(Laughing out loud): :
  3. I did beleave you feathers,
  4. How old is my budgie.I guess you would have to look at its date
  5. Denise,Pick the best of the greens or greygreen would do.But not opline,on second thoughts I would`nt use cinnomon either.
  6. macka replied to Billie's topic in New to BBC
I would say Billie, has been in training at some one else place. He looks very tame.If he is siting on your shoulder, that would`nt happen over night & to be removeing pens from the pencel case.I think billie might be old enough to be called bill.
  7. No,I would pair him to a green.I never pair 2 of the same colour together if I can help it. Also I would`nt pair him back to a opline hen.A good normal green, split for blue would be okay. :Sorry Kaz
  8. macka replied to Briony's topic in New to BBC
I would say,a out of condition hen.I would worm it,for a start & some high protine food & keep it by itself, till its back in condition.
  9. Thats a good idea,we have to fill out in triplet & order 50 & pay extra, I would be interested, what hapens in the other states. :budgiedance:
  10. My concern is,it might of past onto your other birds, The problem it died from, you will have to watch your birds closely, for any signs of sickness. If so a trip to a avian vet will be needed or you might lose the lot. :feedbirds:
  11. Thats interesting Kaz.Here all rings have to come through the ring register,The club holds no spare rings, Norm, with a little spit & oil,you will be surprised as to how late you can ease the ring on.I have put a ring on one, that was over 2 weeks old,I missed him some how.My excuse the ring fell off :budgiedance:
  12. Yes the yellow face is a male.No they should`nt fight. How big is the cage you have them in.? :bluebudgie:
  13. macka replied to Little one's topic in Aviaries
I see you only have 7 budgies, they would get lost in that cage,I would put wire mesh across the middle & make 2 cages. :bluebudgie:
  14. Blue hen, Y/F a hen to I think. :bluebudgie:
  15. He looks to have a bit of size about him.I would say he is of a show standard breeding.I guess he did`nt have a ring on.So you wont know his age.I would pair him up with a good hen & see how he goes. :bluebudgie:
  16. macka replied to Little one's topic in Aviaries
If its 5ft high,it has to be 8 to 10ft long.It would hold 30 to 50 budgies.I would fit a safty door.So when you go in the cage,as one door opens the other is closed & you will not have any fly away into the blue yonder. :bluebudgie:
  17. You should be okay with the golden Plains. :feedbirds:
  18. Are the eggs fertile if not, that may be the reason she left them.If they are fertile give her an other try, only this time leave her with only 2 eggs & foster the rest to another hen. That way if she leave the nest, you only loose 2 eggs.
  19. macka replied to nathan1's topic in Breeders Discussion
Same old story. They think you are a mind reader..
  20. Denise, are you in the Greater Geelong or Golden Plains Shire. It might make a difference. You might have to sound proffe the noise from your neighbour.I know one budgie breeder. That had to change his aviery around to cut down on the noise. Because they can make a bit of noise, first thing in the mornings, when they start to sing.
  21. The red eyes, will be ino hens.
  22. Daz, The % is over 100 chicks. You will have to breed a 100 chicks, from the one pair to get the 25%.
  23. No Kaz,I have never breed dom pie to dom pie. Will interesing to see. There colouing.50% will be single dom pie,25% double dom pie & 25% normal.
  24. I would think,A male & female,in the albinos. :budgiedance:
  25. WHY ,WHY WHY,is it that people who know nothing about breeding, come on here & told what to do. Then come back a week or so later & say the chicks or hen or what ever, has died or been killed. The amount of information thats on this site,we should`nt be reading about these disaster.Iam not have a shot at any one in particalar. Why breed if you are not set up to handle the situation. If you don`t put breeding boxes in the aviary, they wont breed.I have hens & cocks flying together,12 months of the year & in that time if there was 2eggs on the floor I would be surprised.
