Still alive but I notice he doesn't have much milk in his crop but he is wriggling everywhere and qurking for a feed so I will see how he goes, the hen is an excellent mother. Here he is the little one on the left, you can only see his head. Actually he laying on his back with his beak open saying "Feed me mum"

Yes I am happy with my ivermectin which I get my avian vet and normal vet. But gee Kaz I pay $15.00. I bought it at the Shield last last for $9.00 and I thought I was laughing but I think it was watered down as it didn't work so I tossed it.

Here is my huge egg, I thought I tossed it but it was still in the nest and it was clear and I can only see one yolk. It's the egg on the left and the one in the middle is a normal budgie egg and it is quite big in it's own right and the egg on the right is my false egg which is very big. But you can see how huge the egg the hen layed, ouch must of hurt.

NO 7...cleaned breeding cages out and put the seed jar back in an empty cage so a pair with chicks had no seed for nearly 24 hours as I didn't notice in the morning either, I wondered why the hen was out of the cage all the time. BUT all chicks grew up big and healthy. Did it again to a different nest a few weeks later. :question: No 8... Threw a couple of eggs out that didn't hatch, I chucked them on the ground to see what was inside and out pop a live baby. I threw it hard too He lived. No 9.. I have had babies fall from top nest and luckily grow up normally. a couple of weeks ago I was at some friends place who were showing me their babies from a pair that cost them $$$$ and one chick about 2 weeks old fell out and went SPLAT you could here the thump. Well it died about an hour later, I felt just terriable. where as mine have fell from much higher distance but were younger and they bounce from one thing to another and survived.

He doesn't look thin yet, he is still hand full but that keel bone is sharp as. I got Greg to hold him see what he thought and he agreed . Yes Kaz I hope he comes good.

Nah it's now Jake poo It's funny tonight Greg was talking to his mum and she asked him if he got his puppy and of couse he said yes. 1... opened the nest of my violet hen and the old boy and one egg rolled out and bounce all the way to the floor, blood came out of the crack. Dead chick. that was the nest of 3 violets and a dark green cock, all top birds. 2... put an egg down my bra to warm up and forgot about it, and it fell on the bathroom floor and SPLAT...would of been fertile. 3... I sat an egg on top of the nest for minute because it was off colour and I thought it should of hatch and I was going to check it by chipping away and throw it out. well I forgot until the next morning, and I broke it and the chcik was perfectly fine, I killed it by leaving it out of the nest. It was all ready to hatch. 4... My best hen had that crook eye and then seems to everything wrong with her all the time. Always in a holding cage. 5... My second best hen sister to the won above died , couldn't believe it. both these hens have won me heaps of awards. both 08 birds and both full sisters to the white df spangles. 6. Stood on one of my best cocks, lt green spangle lol full brother to the 2 hens above, but he did make a full recovery but gosh I stood on him fairly hard it was so awful, I felt just horriable, he couldn't fly for a few weeks poor boy. That's enough from me for now, someone elses turn.

Was Gb until Iput him in the hospital cage, he was hatched middle of June so he is about 11 weeks. This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago.

I notice yesterday that my cobalt baby was struggling and today he looked a fluffed, he still feels a big bird in my hand but his keel bone is sharp. I put him in the hospital cage for warmth and he is sitting under the light so he must need the heat. I have put him on doxy but my gut tells me to put him on funglin meds BUT I thought I would try the doxy first. He does now have a pooy bum. His crop was empty earlier so I cropped him with polyaide.

Hey all, I went out to the breeding this arvo for my usual routine check, well the nest where my yellow Df spangle Cock and lt green cinnamon spangle hen (half brother/half sister) are, there were only 2 fertile eggs in this nest and I fostered 3 or 4 Of my iffy grey hens eggs. Well 2 of the grey hens eggs have hatched and 1 of the pair above hatched yesterday. well on my check I notice an egg with a huge hole in it and I could see that the chick was breathing so I thought I will help it so I carefully started chipping away but there was a little bit of blood and it looked like the membrane or the air sac or what ever it's called only just broke so it was still wet and sticky sort of. Anyway there was a bit of blood on the belly button part. I don't think It was due to hatch untill tomorrow. I actually think the hen put the hole in it as the head of the chick was still buired in the egg , no where hear the hole. I put the chick in the nest and this was at 4 oclock. It was still alive at 5.30, so I am hoping it makes it. Thought I would share this with you all. I really want this chick as this is my next shield winner that will get me to the Nationals I wish But you never know, if there were any pairs that would do it for me it would be this pair.

So did mine Dean, I have false plastic eggs and they are huge compared to the budgie eggs, but I love them because they stop the hen laying to heavy on the hens. Well this egg was bigger than these false eggs. poor hen must of been in so much pain .

GB don't let people put you down, your social skills are just fine. And guessb what I am NOT dyslexic but my spelling on here is **** sometimes. MY reason are : I can't see the key board, age is a pain in the backside sometimes. Blind as a bat these days:P :I don't have spell check on here, and that sucks : I type too fast and hit the wrong letters oops, well actually t looks like a y and so on. And as for social skills, I sometimes don't have a lot to say .

I have a hen in the nest at the moment , remember that crazy hen that attacked me well she layed 8 eggs this round, the first one clear and the next 5 hatched and the second last was a huge egg, twice the size of all other eggs, it was a monster of an egg. It looked like it started to be fertile but the stopped, so died. and the last egg normal and clear. I was going to take a photo but I forgot and threw it out. but really I have never seen an egg that big.
