Birds And Babies
I got a bit trigger happy yesterday between taking photos of my birds and Jake. Gb these babies are from the sky violet, brother of your hen. the yellow spangle is from a different nest. There are 4 of theirs in this nest and the other 2 are in another nest. Looks like I have a nicely marked grey spangle in this lot, i think there are 2 spangles and 2 normals Remember my sky cinnamon opaline hen with that crook eye, look at her now Nest of six, parents Violet cock and sky hen. I think a strong nest, they have 5 chicks now. This is the one that died today Sky oplaine hen another sister sky cinnamon another sister sky hen Surviving cobalt cock Sky cock.. the plainest of the six

G & G 2010/2011 Breeding Season
Sorry to all the birdie lovers out there but several hundred dollars for a vet bill and at least a 400km round trip to get there means that this little guy will have to take his chances with my ministrations. If it is what you suspect then surgery on what amounts to a $100 or so budgie is out of the question. As it is he seems pretty happy so maybe he'll cope just fine with his crop sagging between his knees (god knows mine is just about there too!). Ha ha so is mine But seriously I am with you on this Nubbly. Some I believe are worth the trip and vet $$$$ but the marjority of mine take their chance with ministrations too. And then I let nature take it's course. ( 9 times out 10 they pull through). But the problem here even if I want to go to the vet sometimes I have to waite a fortnight to see him, He is only on once a week (Mondays). Last time I rang he was a away for 2 weeks, when birds are they can't wait that long so I have to intervene and try my best.

Shannon New Post
Great idea Shannon. That's what Clearwing is doing here, He bought an olive clearwing cock with beautiful markings but the bird itself is tiny and I mean really tiny so he has put it with his best hen in his avairy. He is bound to improve the size and feather.

Murphy's Law Of Budgie Breeding
Yes I hate those wire cages for that reason. At least in a wooden cage if they tip the seed out it just sits on the floor and they still have food to eat. Wire ones the food goes in the tray and they can't reach it what a waiste.

He is lovely, a grey opaline, looks like he has a blue ring on meaning that he was hatched between September and last and September this year.

Murphy's Law Of Budgie Breeding
sorry Gb this is funny, open and fly away. Thanks Neville for a good laugh, I am so sorry at laughing at your cost , I know at the time it would of been awful to pick up your cage and find the bird that was missing underneath flat as a tack. But I am cracking up here. I really needed a good laugh after today .I am just so glad that other people can admit to their mistakes and weakness, we can all learn from this.

My Cobalt Baby Is Sick
Thank you DEan, Yes I know how you felt too. I have bben so angry with mysel all day, but when I went out to investagate him more hoping he would jump up and surprise me but no he is really gone, BUT his crop was totally empty so I really think he would of died adventually anyway, I just sped up the process. Saving on the power bill. Well i have to look on the bright side of things But besides the hen he was the best out of that nest. The whole lo were really good. So I am hoping the 5 in the nest now are just as good or even better

New Bird Room
I started off on the wrong foot, Let the fire go out thinking I was doing the right thing as it was smoking inside and it stunk. I thought all he had to do was empty it and light it. He came home feeling dizzy and sick and then he had to climb on to the roof to clean out the chimney I didn't relise that or I would kept it going all day. Well NO sucking up tonight. Always tomorrow

My New Breeding Season
Same here, The chick that died today is the one that Nubbly liked. The parents have 5 more in the nest , so cross my fingers. The six from the 1st nest were all very strong.

Murphy's Law Of Budgie Breeding
Yes like me today, crop feed my sick bird and I must of put it in wrong and result dead bird. The first year I started breeding I had a little set with 8 cages and I couldn't reach the to cages silly in experienced me use to stand on a bucket. well one day I was changing see in one of the top cages and the bucket give way to me weight and next thing I know was that I was lying on the ground with all the 4 top breeding cages on top of me. As I fell my arm hit the door which swung open my my beautiful Danish pied flew straight out. My arm was still stuck inside the top cage. All cages had eggs, well the eggs were everywhere, scrambled eggs all smashed. All birds survived the ordeal and I never saw my danish pied again. From my experience, I set off and purchased a fold up ladder and a hook and eye for the door inside and out. Not to mention I was hurt in the ordeal. I hit my head very hard on the cement, and the cages caused quite a bit of bruising to my face and body. I twisted my ankle. AND my PRIDE was hurt. I layed there for ages until Greg missed me and came looking for me.

Yippy I Think They Are Working On My
Hi all, I just went past the Garage and I saw what looked like an ugly motor in a trailer and then I saw my car sitting out the front with hood sitting on the roof and the back door up why the back door up is beyound me but who cares they must of found a motor for my car . Since last Thursday it has being pushed out the back out of site and to me forgotten. But now I am excited, gosh I hope this one fits. This is the 3rd motor, the first two were wrong they had different mounts. God I hope they get it right this time. They got the motors out of 4 door Hyundais and my is a 3 door, ha ha different engine mounts. Last week they were already to drop it in and the mounts were different like not there. Yippee could have my car back maybe tonight , no I think I am dreaming but maybe Monday if all goes well. Yes Yes Yes

Frontline Is An Alternative
If frontline is an alternative to ivermectin why don't avian vets advice us to use it. What qualifications do you have Al@n to say it's safe and works but you will not take any responsibility for any of us using it. I think you should do your research completley before saying it is safe. Do you know for sure it doesn't effect lifespan and fertility. I got the impression that if we didn't listen to you will not be part of the future, is this right? Well I am already well on my way to the future. I will not give or trail anything on my birds that is not proven safe by my avian vet. After all avian vets are the experts not novice that think they are.

My Cobalt Baby Is Sick
No it was the crop I think Kaz because he was lively as in the cage. God I am angry with myself.

My Cobalt Baby Is Sick
Well My my bird is DEAD my fault, I am so annoyed with myself , have slamed the doors and everything, I just wished I ahd of left him alone, GOD i hate using that crop needle. I had trouble getting it in, and so I tried again, I felt it go in right and I fed him but he died in my hands, this happened 2 years ago. I am off the crop needle again. annoyed annoyed annoyed, I wish I could say something else but I can't. I don't know what I did wrong because I I have cropped heaps of times. It must of went into his lungs but he had no bubbles come out of his nostrils, I really wished I had of left him alone he may of made it, he was lively enough, now I have lost a really good bird.

New Bird Room
Wood just arrived for the framing for my cement, i really didn't get it high enough because my plan is to wash it off when finished cementing and reuse it on my frame work so it is not waisted. So we need to take some extra dirt out of the ground, I am sure it will all work out. Shed hasn't come yet and I am $50.00 short of the money. BUT I will work it out somehow. 'Greg honey", I think I will be doing some sucking up over the weekend. I will do a new post and photo essay as I go along. BUT remembering this bird room is going to takes months to complete because I have to pay off my car repair bill too. I have NOT got my car back yet as they are still waiting on a motor for it
