Meet The Newest Member Of Our Family
Thanks SL26 that is a great help, I will take all this into consideration, I seem to be the firm one around hear not Greg so far, And Jake seems to respond to me more than Greg . I have been doing that fold the arm thing and turn around and ignore and he goes off and does his own thing then, it works well.

Interbreeding/inbreeding
In breeding is like a christmas tree, each year you go out to an outcross then the following back in to the line. That's if you have a line. Mind you the birds need to have something to offer to inbreed and also to out cross. I am sure someone will explain it better than me.

- My New Breeding Season
Remember my crazy sky blue hen, the one that attacks. Well has started again . It's funny you know, She will lay the eggs, hatch them raise them up until the oldest is about 2 1/2 weeks and she will be as pleasant as moving out of the way when I check the nest ect but once they get to taht age back, her instinct goes in protection mode and bang Attack attack attack!!!!. But I am not copmplaining as she is a great mother her her chicks are well fed and big babies. Oh yeah once the chicks get to 5 weeks she stops her attacking, Lets me do what I want .....strange.- Why We Should Lock Our Aviaries
Monday when Geoff was here I was showing him my birds and we were in the baby aviary and I was looking for my violet spangle hen and I said to him well she was here this morning, anyway we were looking everywhere, the only place she can get out is into the next breeding room but the door was clipped anyway I went in there checked every crook and cranny and no bird. I said to Geoff I think I have been robbed because I was admiring her in the morning and she was there and now she is not, I said to him why would they take her and not the violet spangle cock who is stunning, vibrant in color and the works. Anyway to cut the story short she was in the main aviary, I forgot I moved her, I am forgetting in my old age But it did scare me thinking that someone has come into the yard pass Jake who probably just linked them to death and stole my violets. I plan on getting locks now because of my scare.- Yippy I Think They Are Working On My
He put seconhand back shockers in it too and he said it is a lot quiter , well boy to me it is rough as, I went over the littlest of bump in the road and I nearly lost my stomache, Feels like my tyres are flat. I think it will be going back for him to check it out next weekend. The bump I am talking about is in the main street so you know just a little rise in the road nothing at all but it felt like I jumped over a speed hump, the front wheels went over good but the back wheels went bang over it , I am posative it wasn't like that before. What a rough ride- My First Absolute Disaster Breeding Season
I feel for you Dean and you to Gb. Things will improve try and stay positive Dean. I have had a rotten year too, but it has got better. BUT when you think of how many pairs I have had down to how many fertile eggs I got and how many hatched is disgusting. And then to loose seven or 8 to yellow belly in a row from 3 different nest drives you nuts. I have yellow belly again but so far one nest argghhh.- Floods
Thanks Elly. I rang my son Luke before and he said that the Murray River in Cobram where he lives is satrting to fall, what a relief he was packing. They start moving into their new home tomorrow. Here a few photos of the floods I was to scared to go any closer, they are a bit dark but it was after 5pm when I took them- G & G 2010/2011 Breeding Season
Oh so exciting, hope all goes well Nubbly and there are lost of little pinkies soon- Yippy I Think They Are Working On My
Yes Yes Yes Have my car, hand delivered by the machanic, so happy, went and took some phots of the floods will post them later.- Floods
Me too, as they do not really have a lot of money. 5 years ago he had his eye stabbed out in a pub, he went to stick up for a women who was being harrassed by some bloke and the bloke turned around and stuck a beer glass in his face, he lost his eye. He suffered terriable injuries from it, When he got his money from his injuries they dicided to build a house instead of waisting it. Mind you half the money went to the solicter.- Why We Should Lock Our Aviaries
That is shocking, they or he or she must be low life to do something like that, how horriable!!!!!!!!!!!- My New Breeding Season
You have some lovely chicks there Kaz, I love that sky blue hen of Marks- Floods
The floods have hit here, by tonight we won't be able to get to Shepparton, Kyabram or Numurkah, there is nearly no way out. What's worse I still don't have my car because now the hold up is they are installing a new dash because I cooked so good that I stuffed up tempture gage well all the gages in the dash. I am annoyed because I won't to see the floods, this will be the first time i have missed out, Greg said that I don't want to it is scary BUT I said yes I dooo. Just out of town the Shepp turn off is almost under water from each side of the road for miles, the poor cows Gregs said standing on little pockets of land that is a little higher. The way I go to mums which is Numurkah is under. We have 3 creeks running into ours so we have heaps more water coming yet Our house won't flood because of the levy banks they built but around the corner on lower land their houses are going under. My son lives in Cobram and thye just built a new home and got the keys for it yesterday but luke is worried sick because his house is right next to the murry river ( river view they say.. but there is a huge levy bank there, well the levy bank is 5ft and they are expecting 6ft so he is scared as there is NO insurence for floods or flash floods. I am not sure if the danger has gone for him yet. BUt I am being selfish I need to go to Shepparton. WE were going tonight in Gregs car and I was so excited over it because being stuck here with no car BUT now we have to stay home- Bird That Is Not Quite Right But ....
