  1. Naughty Jake dug up the packing sanding area last night the little so and so. I went and paid for my shed today and had a look at it. I bought home the T handle and screws to put it together and the dyno bolts to attach it to the cement. Shed will be here Tuesday. Exciting. Looks very high just what I wanted
  2. Our local vet allows you to pay things off, But then you have to make sure you do regular payments to keep them happy. But the avian vet doesn't. Yes I can understand that a lot people probably do not pay after they promise they will, but I am not one of those people.
  3. Area already to cement. Hoping the weekend
  4. SW can you please explain to me this bit, how dangeruous to the family. Essentially by dosing your bird with tetracylcine unnessecarily you are putting yourself and your family at risk as well. I Have nothing against vets at all but My avian vet is ony available Mondays only and sometime only fortnightly. And one time I desperatley needed to see my vet but had no money until the next day and they turned me away. Pay on the day or no service which I found very dissappointed as they will send medication to me in the mail which I pay straight away, but wouldn't see my bird I said I will pay tomorrow and that they trust me to pay for medication but don't trust me to pay the next day, unreal.
  5. Hope so, as long as he pertects them and not eat them, BUT my way at looking at things, I told Greg while I am around Jake will be a well fed dog, I reckon a well fed dog with plenty of toys and chew things should leave the birds alone. Packing sand nearly all down in the area now , I am hoping cementing takes place over weekend.
  6. Nop Greg is never home, I don't have a crate for him, but today I tied him up while I moved the dirt to my new birdroom site he was quite good actually, I did it again this arvo and left hime there while I sat down, He wa stied up on the veranda right next to where his kennel is. I thought it to be a good idea to get him use to that especially when we do the cementing. Jake is really starting to be a good boy, I stood in his poop today but didn't know it and went into friends home with poop on my shoe I was soooo embarrassed they were good about, they laughed at me because I wanted to through my runner in the bin. Yuk it made me sick, SO I then decided Jakes diet is going to be natural from now on NO more can food, yuk.
  7. Yep getting excited but need more of this $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, looking for a new job with more hours and that will give me more money AND a break from Jake Yep probably come home and I find that he is that board that he has ripped the front of my aviaries and eaten mmy birds.
  8. Oh really scarey today, coming home fdrom Shepp and I got 3/4 way home and I can here this bang bang noise coming from the front of the car and then much loader, I thought oh no I have done it again how embarressing. I sopping the car put the bonnet up and had my head down in there looking for the problem. The temp said normal so I was hoping this one didn't lie and I thought **** the motor is falling out. Anyway a man and his wife stopped straight away to help and the women was trying to ring the garage to come and get me but we worked out it was a belt breaking there was a big piece hanging off and that was banging aginst everything when the motor was going. The guy said it was the airconditioner belt so even if it broke everything would be okay. I drove it back slowly. Boy did I panick I was thinking I was jinxed. The garage said that next time if I am not sure ring them they will come rather than me drive back and making more$$$$$$$$$ damage than needed.
  9. I know Shannon, it's so annoying, last weekend was perfect and now I want to lay the cement and rain
  10. Good news Jake is fully lead train, we go for walks everyday now, he loves it but we can only walk one way because there are dogs loose the other 3 ways (street) and i am scared of what would happen. They are scary dogs. But he is still annoying he loves me to death but i don't want him to, he is like my shadow everywhere I go he is right next to me or under my feet.
  11. My packing soil arrived yesterday, I did 4 wheel barrows full but I was worn out after that (very heavy), I had no time today, tomorrow I have to try and move more. I had it all nicely piled in my frame Jake wrecked it on me, he is a little brat. I rang about my shed today and they told me it arrive yesterday late arvo so I have to go to Numurkah tomorrow to pay for it excited. We are cememting on the weekend I hope but it has been broadcast to rain for the next 4 days .
  12. My aviaries are basicly empty to, But my baby avairy is looking quite promising . We get $8.00 a bird here at the petshops and one pet shop gives $7.00 . These prices are for any colour and variety, thye do prefer a varity of colours though, not all green.
  13. We had our meeting last night and the majority of the are having heaps of problems in the breed room. Clear eggs, DIS, yellow belly you name they have it. BUT on the other hand I have a little good news. One nest that eggs weren't are now, and another nest which had 8 fertile and one hatched and died , well I helped and that is probably why it died well anyway they hatched an egg today and chick is a lovely healthy colour and doing good. SO have crossed my fingers fro more, there is one dead in shell in that nest I am sure and probably more but will leave them to see what happens.
  14. Very interesting and will take iut on board, But I have no problem with my birds they all fly from ground to perch. and from perch to ground and I have birds with good feather too. But then I know there are people complaining about their birds sitting on the floor all the time but mine do not do that.
  15. I had a hen like that, her crop was like a fully inflated balloon and she did make a croaky noice, sounded much different than he other birds, she was given tome , a real nice hen too.

Thanks Phill, I am making my new lot out of melamine or how ever it is spelled I was going to have all wire but after using them for breeding this I have decided I like the wood ones better, The wire ones have their good points, easy to clean etc. But to me the bad points are seed falls to the tray and is wasted and babies have trouble walking on wire. Woodedn ones are harder to clean but the babies can walk in them with out falling between the wire and the they can peck away at the seed all the time. Plus my new breed room is going to be 3mt by 3mt, I can fit more wooden boxes in than the wire ones.
  17. This year is the pits I have nothing to show next year at all, and the way i am going no purple ringers either

    and
  19. 2 chicks hatched today and dead, I think that one I chipped and hatched yesterday died too. Oh and i have a nest with 5 babies and hen is attacking them so I took her out so the dad finishes them off but he is not feeding them, so annoying
  20. If the grey green spangle was split to blue, it could produce a df white spangle. (Well, when paired to another spangle...)Thanks Finnie I have breed white Df spangles from 2 grey green spangles. First we were shock and said WHAT but then yes going back over pedigree both birds split for blue
  21. They are looking good Kaz and have grown so fast, The grey spangle is still my favorite and plucka is coming on nicely too.

I love your cages Phill you did a great job. What sort of board did you use for the front rail?
  24. I am with you on this one RIP, I don't believe in seed in the nest box either, when the chicks are 2 weeks plus I start putting in millet spray mainly for the hens and when the chicks get old enough the peck away at it too. I only use wood shavings in my nest and am happy with that, I did try the lucerne but went back to the shavings. I feel by putting seed in the nest attracts those rotten moths that we all try to keep abay. Touch wood I have have not seen one this year so far.
  25. Yes Yes , my packing soil is coming today, Jake and i walked down to the business and he just turned up so I asked to drop it off this arvo and the sand stuff for the cement later in the week. yahoo BUT more work for me.
