My birdies love dog toys too. They make really great cheap toys. I learnt the lesson a while ago to cut off loose threads on toys. Most rope bird toys have them also. I had to cut them off my circle swing, ladders and boings. Feathers.
  2. She was such a fighter to the end and now that spirit will live on eternally. Fly free Sara. *hugz* to you. Feathers.
  3. Wow! Congratulations on the upcoming anniversary and the baby! Feathers.
  4. You have a great looking flock, Stuart. Feathers.
  5. Hiya, nice to be able to relate the name to the photo I belong behind a camera, not in front of one. Nice picture. Feathers.
  6. I am a lucky one Feathers.
  7. If this link http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en doesn't work go to "Budgie FAQ's" at the top of the page. The PDF is in a FAQ on page 2 of "general budgerigar FAQ's" called "What do I need to know when selling a budgie?" This is the direct link to the PDF: http://www.aly.bigpondhosting.com/My%20New...e%20Leaflet.pdf (the server seems to be experiencing some bandwidth problems at the moment, so it may be a tad slow) In the FAQ's section there are also articles about how to evaluate and find a good breeder or a good pet shop (some do exist) Feathers.
  8. Hi there. There is a leaflet that I created for this site in this FAQ, http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en , which I am happy for you to use. If you click on "My new Budgerigar Care Leaflet" it will bring up a PDF of it. The leaflet has this website address on it. Most of the other information that you are chasing is in the Budgerigar FAQ section also. Directing the students, or their parents that require more information to this site would also be an option. 9. I think treating him for this is a good course of action. After treatment I'd put him on a probiotic so that you could treat him for cocci later as well. The vet will explain how to tell if the psittacocis treatment is working. You can tell within a couple of days whether they have it and need continued treatment. Often these diseases don't show until they are stressed, such as when they moult. All of my birds get wormed and treated for cocci, amongst other things, during their quarantine period. Any that I show also go through a mini quarantine before they are released back into the flock. Good luck with it all. Feathers.
  10. I agree, it is great for a single budgie and extra flight time out of the cage would be fantastic. Feathers.
  11. Hi Bea, I am sorry that this has happened to her. *hugz* to you. Fly free Akala. Feathers.
  12. I love your favourite photo of Ozzie too, great picture! The one of Blinks that you put in your sig is fantastic as well. Love them all though. Feathers.
  13. Billy Bob and Chippa are great looking birds. Poor Jamie, he'll get an inferiority complex :nest: Feathers.
  14. I took two photos today that I thought could be added to this post.... the first is a one day old baby that I had just hand fed as he was a bit lost under his bigger siblings and had an empty crop.. the second is of the much older siblings, all of which had massively full crops! Feathers.
  15. Oh, poor Katie. What an absolutely horrific experience for her I really hope that the budgie does make it as at least she will know she has made a difference for at least one of these poor birds. Feathers.
  16. Hi Vonn, it really does sound like he may be carrying a disease that has weakened his immune system. Perhaps take him to a vet and have him tested for psittacosis/coccidiosis etc. It isn't normal for him to be getting sick so often. I hope you can find the cause. Feathers.
  17. Feathers replied to Daz's topic in Aviaries
Brilliant Daz. Aftr all that hard work and red tape, the council are loving you, well done. Feathers.
  18. Both of these birds are now in the aviary. I will try to remember to get a photo in the next day or two.... not a sign that scaley was ever there. Feathers.
  19. Feathers replied to Bea's topic in Aviaries
Sounds like a great idea to me.... I have concrete slabs on the base of mine and once a week I sweep it out and use the back of the broom to loosen any poops, then once a month it gets brushed over with a vinegar solution and comes up sparkling :budgiedance: Feathers.
  20. yep, I'd agree with Bea. I had a hen that looked like it had an egg bum and the hospital cage worked a treat... I made mine steamy by putting the perspex front on and a shallow dish of water. Good luck. Feathers.
  21. Hi Bea, I am sorry to hear that about her. It's so awful when they are sick :budgiedance: *hugz* Feathers.
  22. Oh, I can barely look at the photos, I can hardly imagine how you are feeling... Good pet stores will have one or the other or an avian vet. You could also get them direct from vetafarm's website. http://www.vetafarm.com.au/product_list.asp?category_id=25 Feathers.
  23. Luv the last photo I'd add some, but I have been a bit slack in the photogragh area lately Feathers.
  24. It is the same as a post thread Kaz, but all the replies and comments don't show in the main window and your latest post is at the top. If you have a look at some of the other blogs, like Daz's "Life as a breeder" you will see what I mean. Feathers.
  25. They are great, used by many exhibitors to help any stress of showing and recommended for sick birds too. Vetafarm's "spark" is one, as is "polyaid". Feathers.
