Nationals Winners...held In Adelaide 2007
That stand for 'Opaline - any other standard variety'. Some of the varieties cannot be shown if they are opaline, such as the Black Eyed Self. Because of this they are shown in this class. Feathers.

Feather Town Breeding Room
Hi all, Check and weigh day again, so there will be new pics of some of the chicks in the breeding journals. After Kazbee died Beaker has been left alone with their 2 remaining eggs. Unfortunately, even though I don't have a globe for my flexi torch yet, I am pretty sure that they are both clear. I still have about 13 budgies in the last stages of quarantine. I have moved their cages around in the bird room today so that there is a lot more room to move about , which Kaz will be happy to hear. I have had to move cages around for a while in an effort to access all the cages in the room. This new change means I won't have to do that any more. This is the new position of one of the quarantine cages. This is Dekota and Oh-oh's chick being weighed. At 10 days old it weighs nearly 5 grams. Feathers.

Budgies I Stole From My Taxi Driver
you definitely would if you saw this bird. The yellow over the back of the head is pretty normal, but on the face it looks like thick primary kids yellow paint that would almost crack. Feathers.

Using Paint
Good job. Marlon, I am impressed, you are not scared to ask questions and take advice. The ladder looks brilliant. Feathers.

Budgies I Stole From My Taxi Driver
I don't think it would be carrying 2 YF genes. I see where you are coming from and you are just making it more difficult than it needs to be :ausb: No, truly, I see the gene as separate to the natural colouring of a green bird. capiche'? Feathers.

Budgies I Stole From My Taxi Driver
Or at the very least not post about them in the middle of a couple of very hectic weeks when I am too sore to think straight :ausb: I'm fine now. I spent this afternoon almost hysterically crying on my pain psych's shoulder That always helps me, not sure how he feels about it In my sky violets the colour is also seen in the wing feathers.. I'd show you picks without the sheath over the feathers, but my birdies are asleep right now. You can see it on the bottom wing feathers of this chick... Elly I know what you mean, no, greens would not be labelled YF, all I was saying was that this bird 'appeared' to carry the YF gene, which, being a dominant gene is quite possible. It would be 'labelled' a grey green, but I'd bet my bottom leg there is YF2 in it's history. Maybe it came from a YF grey and a green parent? I will look into who bred it. Feathers.

Dying Chick
I dont think the fruit flavoured ones would hurt, but plain, natural yoghurt with high good bacteria counts would be best. With my smallest babies I used a toothpick to get them to take food. Load it with yoghurt, rub it on the side of it's beak and it should open up to accept the food. Feathers.

Being Irresponsible...
Hi there, don't completely give up hope yet. If you have a spare cage try leaving it out with food in it and do the rounds of the neighbourhood with lost notices. Put them up in stores and vets as well in case someone has found her. Feathers.

Lukie Ill Again..
Hi Vonn, starting Lukie back on vegies is fine now. The main reason for not feeding them while they are on antibiotics is because they can get all the moisture they need from the greens and therefore won't need to drink as much of their medicated water. He will probably love you for it. A little of the probiotics could be added to the mix after you have washed them so that he is still getting the good bacteria he needs to settle his little tum. Dying Chick
Hi Michelle, you are right, but they are okay with cultured milk products. Yoghurt would be better. Feeding Chicks from newly hatched. The first feed of the day for three days should be a quality yoghurt with a high live organism count. Quote taken from this FAQ: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...=120&artlang=en Feathers.

Budgies I Stole From My Taxi Driver
That is if you abide by the thinking that a budgie with 'opalescence' is carrying the opaline gene. I thought that had been pretty much dispelled in a previous discussion on the subject. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=14834 Sky violets look cobalt coloured. So if you have a cobalt with violet around the necl line check for the torquoise flight and tailfeathers, he may actually be sky violet, not cobalt. The best guide to distinguishing Violet Skyblues from Cobalts are the tail and flight feathers. Cobalt tails are a solid navy blue. The darker the Cobalt body colour, the deeper the blue of the tail but even the palest Normal Cobalts have navy blue tails. In Violet Skyblues the tail feathers are turquoise at the quill end darkening to blue toward the tip. The depth of turquoise in the tail varies with the depth of body colour. The difference we see in the tails can also be seen in the flight feathers. The colour in the flight feathers of Cobalts is dark blue. In Violet Skyblues there is a glossier turquoise iridescence like that seen in Skyblues but slightly darker that the Skyblue. In general Violet Skyblues have a brighter appearance than Cobalts. Handling The Chicks?
Hi Michelle, I do as others here have already said. I knock and then open the nest. They get used to you doing it and know what to expect. I just reach in and pick up a chick. One of my hens waits at the nestbox hole until I have finished, but the others usually hop out into the cage. They watch me take out and handle their bubs, and none seem to mind it at all. Feathers.

Konrad And Figaro
Hi Jenny, I thought Figaro was a little boy, but it is very hard to tell with some birds until they are older. It is quite possible that Konrad's wing feathers may be growing, but if they are, it is likely that they will fall out again before or at the nest moult The happiness shows, your posts are almost glowing with joy. Variation In Down [fluff] On Chicks:
So far all of my chicks have been 'pet type' bred, so I am going to find it interesting to notice the difference in the 'exhibition type' chicks when they come along soon. Feathers.

Feather Town Breeding Room
Ahh, I have done online searches, but hadn't thought of going the other way and sending the store a picture of the globe. It is so small there is no information on it, unfortunately. I came across a new electronics store this afternoon and they didn't have it I am like you, I get a LOT of things online. It is the easiest way to get things home Feathers.

Budgies I Stole From My Taxi Driver
It's okay.. I called every grey green bird I photographed yesterday an olive. I was going to check the colour chart, but couldn't be bothered Shoot me.. I'm just going to plead over tiredness and see if I get away with it This is a change from when I was correcting Elly's monitor's colour blindness a couple of months back I have to admit I very shamelessly stole the birds and I did extract the DF Spangles with my phalanges and gave it a bit of a head scratch before putting her back into her quarantine quarters. My taxi driver is an absolute angel. He often goes out of his way to accomodate me. He was talking about finches and canaries and I convinced him that they would be a better idea for his aviaries. More Birds That Came From A Country Breeder
Nah, go for your life. To be honest I was too lazy to check the colour chart red eyes He is a really sweet gentle bird You are not kidding, especially if I dont get out to Kaz's to pick up another aviary. I am sick of sweeping up the mess from the 13 I have in end stages of quarantine. Feathers
