  1. I agree, but I was going on the information given, that they are both YF2 Feathers.
  2. Hi Sailor, every time I notice that you have logged on I have been hoping for an update to this topic, preferably telling us that you have taken Saffy out of any breeding environment and that she has been given the retirement that she has earned and thoroughly deserves. Please tell me this is the case. Feathers.
  3. Libby, I would agree totally with Kaz here. She should be removed from any nesting environment. This is a very young budgie. Feathers.
  4. Great photos, I always like flying shots. Feathers.
  5. Interesting, Blinks didn't fan his tail feathers in flight. Great pics and I agree, the last photo of Ozzie is fantastic. Feathers.

*hugz* Karen. I am sorry to hear about Angel, she was a very pretty girl. Fly free, Angel. Feathers.
  7. They are both gorgeous, but I just have to love Ali Baba Feathers.
  8. Hi Vegeta, you obviously keep all of you budgies in that one cage, how big is it? It looks a bit small for that many birds. By 'natural wood' you mean shop bought dowels I assume? Your birds would love it if you went and got some real "natural branches" from your back yard or local park, as long as they are safe wood as listed in this link: click here I can only see 2 toys in those photos, what did you buy? It is great that they are eating brocoli.. keep trying with other vegetables, adding grated carrot or corn, both of which they usually love. Featehrs.
  9. Wow, great photos. I love your toys, Lea would have been super impressed by it all. I am glad they all seemed to get along okay. You are like me taking so many pics. I have room for over 1000, so I always take a heap of pictures and then weed them. 400 shots might end up as only 60 Feathers.
  10. Every egg she lays, while you are considering what to do, is taking it's toll on her body and robbing her of nutrients that she could use in recovering from her recent illness. What is worse? Addling her eggs or Saffy dying THAT is your choice There are many people on this board who have a lot of experience and who are normally very supportive, but I haven't seen any one of these people support you in this, in fact they all think you are doing the wrong thing. Doesn't that ring alarm bells for you? It would for me. Nobody is trying to upset you, what is being expressed is concern for Saffy. Feathers.
  11. Hi Nerwen, you move your eggs around more than I do Mind you, I do move the chicks around a lot. I am closely watching a hen that has 2 chicks in case she starts getting aggressive or wants to lay eggs again. Feathers.
  12. Hi Kel, can you post a picture of the cage setup. It sounds like it may be too small, especially if you have 2 nestboxes in there. How old are the budgies? Feathers.
  13. Winston has done a fantastic job raising her. She looks fantastic. Feathers.
  14. I really question the advice of this vet. There have been a lot of times when you have written things this vet has said or advised and I have had raised eyebrows reading it. I would have found another avian vet by now. If she needed company another female would be a better option. Raising the chicks takes a lot out of the hen, and the cock as well. I hope that she is strong enough to cope. If it were my bird I would have taken away the first egg. Feathers.
  15. Kaz, I missed this post before. Both of the birds are ones that I love. I really look forward to seeing the results of this pairing. Feathers.
  16. Congratulations on the camera. What a great photo of Louy Feathers.
  17. Kaz, he is looking fantastic. Feathers.
  18. It seems like she agrees that she is cute... and she like nice warm spaces... either that ir my daughter is trying to convince her that she does. Kito is a real cutie... her wing colour is much nicer in person... interestig that we both got the same name for similar birds, sailor. Tayle and midori are actually blue birds, they both have blue on their rump. You'd swear mum was a normal green, but she is obviously a YF blue, she doesn't even have blue under her wings. I will have to start getting photos of all the new bubs soon. Feathers.
  19. The grey birds are very buff and one in particular, the grey in the middle of the 4th photo, is a really magnificent hen. For some reason, despite moulting, they all looked okay in the photos. Feathers.

It is so nice to see how well they get along. Konrad looks like she was enjoying her bath too Feathers.
  21. Fantastic photos. I miss having inside birds and their 'out of cage time', their personalities are on display best when they are free. Feathers.
  22. Extremely unlikely.. you aren't planning on breaking a toe while you are holding it, are you? Feathers.

Nice! With 12mp you can crop the photo as much as you like without pixelating (as you know). Lucky you It is so nice upgrading your camera. Unless I can afford a leica digital I've gone pretty much as far as I can go camera wise.. I just need more lenses. I thought I would like KL least in Malaysia, but I really enjoyed it. Hopefully he will get to fit plenty of pleasure in with the business. Feathers.
  24. I really feel a great sense of dread when I read that someone hasn't quarantined a new bird. I even put my budgies through a mini quarantine if they have been in an exhibition hall with other budgies, even when they never go into the same cage as any other bird. Too scary. Stress is the quickest way to bring out a latent illness in a bird. Breeding is one source of stress, as is relocating a bird, as is a change in diet via different food or even a different brand of food, and breeding is another. So, there are 4 major stresses being put on this bird currently. I would quarantine, even though she has been with another of your birds, addle the egg by shaking it (or put it under another hen) and let her settle in. Feathers.
  25. I wish I could help, but I'd just be guessing. I hope that the vet can sort it out. Feathers.
