We Are Growing Upa
I don't know why I get so many y/f spangles. She always has at least 2 every time, yet she has had different partners. One was normal green, then a green pied, then this onne is a cobalt. I was hoping to get one like Dad this time but no luck. Two have a new home waiting, and I want to keep at least one of them. Their tummies are all a different shades of blue ranging from a baby blue thru to a Lilca blue. Cindy

Take A Guess
Kirby, Dont take them away from their parents - they are too young I don't take them away from the parents unless they are being attacked ,and so far that has not happened under 3 weeks of age. I either use a spoon, bent like a beak or a syringe, I'm not good at it but so far have not lost any. Also I cheat. I put the baby in a cage next to my tame budgie and hang a feeder of hulled oats on the outside of the babies cage and Tweety sits on it and eats - and the babies gradually copy her. I squeeze millet between the bars, Tweety eats from the outside and baby copies and starts nibbling the piece on the inside. Not the correct wway, and I'm sure some breeders would hold their breath in terror, but I have not lost any yet. Sorry if this sounds weird. I'm having trouble trying to put word together as luckly keeps sitting on my fingers trying to eat the keyboard. Cindy

Spider Budgie!
:(Laughing out loud): young Lucky does that, he turned 6 weeks old today and whenever anyone is at the kichen table he does his spider climb then twists himself almost inside out, but as soon as someone stands up he throws himself against the cage door and chirps. I'm sure he is saying 'get me out' and when he is out he likes to climb down your shirt, doesn't care if your male or female as long as he can explore the inside. Cindy

Chooks New Bubs
Chook has hatched 6 of her nine so far, if she hatches anymore one should be soon as she seems to hatch between 2.30Pm and 3.30Pm. This nesting box is a bit high for me, so I had to really stretch to get these pics Cindy

They are good cages Bea. I have one that I keep and I put my babies in it until they can go to the aviary. Plenty of room for them to explore everything Cindy

Pretty Lucky
Lucy had his first big flight today. Landed on top of wall units, light fittings, and air conditioning vent (ours are in the ceiling) just as well they were not switched on. Then he went back to his cage - with a little finger help from us, then curled up into his nesting box. As he was so young we put a spare breeding box in the bottom of his cage and he goes in there to recuperate after his long flights. Oh me, he had a big day. Cindy

What Is A Healthy Clutch Size
Thanks Hath. I did have 3 sets down, but as i said before they all had big clutches, so I had nowhere to put these extra ones. I was gping to give them to Aaron again, but his hen has a full nest of eggs too. Also Hath, I will not be breeding again until next year as our Summers here in Penrith are a killer and developers have lopped all the trees behind us so now the Aviaries have no summer shade at all. Blast them. Cindy

What Is A Healthy Clutch Size
Yes, she is feeding them all well, Nerwen and No, I dont want the others to have another clutch as this is their 2nd. I want them to have a long rest as they both had big clutches. Cindy

Pretty Lucky
Let me introduce you to my new baby "Lucky". He is called Lucky because he was pretty lucky not to be one of the eggs we took away. He was hatched 27th Sept. then kicked out of the box and was cracking seed by the 25th Sept. He is now indoors and had his first flight yesterday. Last night he decided to investigate what was under my husband's tee shirt. It looked so cute. Today he flew out of his cage and landed on my elderly neighbours arm. He is really adorable The others are still all in the nest box. Cindy

What Is A Healthy Clutch Size
Help......Daz, Nerwen, Rainbow, Lovey, Homer...Someone please tell me what my next move should be. Chook hatched her 5th baby today (she is a first timer) and still 4 eggs to go. I was hoping the first were infertile but she is hatching them all on their due date. Should I let her hatch the lot? Should I remove excess eggs, and if so how many should I remove. My other hens babies are between 4 and 5 weeks old so I dont think I could put the eggs with them. Or could I? My birds are all too too fertile this time around, had to give away 6 from the other 2 hens. All advice will be appreciated (Oh I'm getting too old for this baby stress (just kidding, I think) Cindy
