That is a great shot. :rip: Send him over to me please. Cindy
  4. She weighs about 36 gram. My scales are not accurate, mainly due to the slope the land and house is on. :(Laughing out loud): You just have to see this place to believe it, nothing sits flat anywhere, they say it is due to the drought which is causing the land to crack and subside!!! (We do not get much rainfall here, Sydney gets heaps, but we may get 1 ml every 3 months, then we all start singing Cindy
  5. Thanks Nerwen. She looks likes she has been doing weights All the other look skinny when she sits beside them Cherie

Little 'Floppy' has come a long way in just one week. From a baby that could not stand on his feet to this. He is now cracking seed, just a little but it is a good start. Perching well and walking around on his little legs instead of crawling, and doesn't need his brother as a pillow anymore Now it is time for him and his sibling to go back to their owner. It is a good feeling to see them come along so well after their bad start in life Cindy
  13. Latest pics of Floppy Sorry Lovey, I was wrong, he has cheek spots and this is both of them, (Before I cleaned the cage) Cindy
  14. How are your birds coping Bea. Apparently last night was our coldest November night for a century. Cindy
  15. He is doing really well, Lovey. He is now cracking seed, and is sitting up, perching, walking a lot better but often still lays down on his chest. It looks like he is asleep over his seed dish, which is a small lid on the floor and one on top of the nesting box, which I have still left in the cage as they both go in there for a sleepy. He has small flys around the room (not for far) still not real good on landing but he is still very young, so we make sure we can catch him on our hands, so he does not hit the floor or anything hard. He is a very pretty fellow, I am unsure is he has a very pale grey tummy, or extremely pale blue and his cheek patches are indistinct. I phoned the owner today to say they can take them home as they are doing okay now. I'll try to get some more pics today. Thanks for asking after them Cindy

I don't know what is going on lately as mine have all been very quiet too, Two of my 3 month old chicks dont make any noise unless they are preening each other, then its only a quiet chatter. I'm also looking after two 4-5 week old chick that are absolutely silent. Cindy

Congratulations, It is always exciting when you see a new bub, then its a wait to see it getting feathers and working out what colour it will be, then trying to determine the sex, then its watching their little heads come up when you go look in the nesting box. Excitement again when the first chick pops his head out of the nesting box. It is always a wonderful feeling. Cindy
  18. Great pics. No.5 looks like he might be saying "look at me, LOOK at me, kim" and No. 7 the two birds are thinking "what the heck does he think he is doing" Cindy
  19. Sounds like Blinks was swearing at Mickey toes Cindy

They are lovely babies. You have done well Cindy
  21. Yes Ridley, I keep something under his neck too. His sibling even lets him rest his head on his back, which I think is cute. Cindy
  22. There are no feathers missing, and all look perfectly formed. But he is always leaning to one side. His tail feathers are straight when he is perching or trying to walk, but when he is laying down in his nesting box his tail is almost at right angles with his body on his left hand side. Normal position when outside in the cage When he is laying he looks like he won't last, but when he is upright (not very often) and when your feeding or cuddling him he looks very bright eyed, although he does not move around much He will stay where you put him for hours. It is a worry. Cindy
  23. Here are some pics of one of the babies we are babysitting, we have nicknamed this one 'floppy' This is how he walks and this is him before his bath So have you any ideas as to why? He is about 3 1/2 week old He has climbed his little ladder and perches on it for about 1 hour, he preened himself this afternoon, only twitters when he hears the older ones, does not cry out to be fed, otherwise he is sitting like these pics all day. Oh, he does have a little fly when out of the cage, low to the ground with plenty of packing under him in case we dont catch him Cindy
  24. Bubbles, (1) the one that was attacked, had fatal injuries worst luck. This is one of the two siblings that were removed for safety reasons, althouhg I have notice a blood spot on the inside of one wing and one under her chin. Don't know if that was incurred by the parents or not. (2) I dont know if the nesting box was cramped or not,, There were only 4 babies, the on that got attacked, the two I have here, and the other is still with Mum as he is not fully feathered yet. Yes Nerwen, that is how he sits and walks. After we fed him at 10PM tonight, (he doesnt take much food, prefers to blow raspberrys at us instead of swallong it .Yuk) he had a little fly, low to the ground and covered about a metre in distance, but we had padding on the floor for safety and hubby got him before he hit the ground anyway. The only time he chirps is when I hold him in front of the cage where my 7 week old bubs are, and when they chatter he will answer back and it sounds so sweet. I have placed them in a nesting box inside a large cage, and when the other sibling comes out, he will follow. I left the nesting box so they might feel a little safer. I worrry that he may not be getting enough to eat as I am feeding him with either a syring or dropper as believe it or not, there are no budgie crop needles in Penrith at the moment. I dont want to lose lose him on them. Will try to take pics tomorrow Cindy Cindy
  25. I am fostercaring 2 baby budgies approx 3 weeks old fully feathered except for under their necks. The owners came home to find one baby attacked almost to death, both parents had blood on them. Resulting in taking babies away, and as as they would not be available to feed them regularly due to school, and work I suggested they bring them here and we would try to hand feed them Well ,we are managing to get a little food into them but my concern is that one of them cannot seem to stand properly. I have checked his feet, they appear okay, but when you stand him on a table or floor of the cage he falls forward and leans on his chest, We Tried him on a low perch and it takes a while for him to balance and he still leans forward. I placed him on the floor, he sat up then flopped straight away and he seems to crawl on his chest. I did not notice this problem until after his second feed at our place Could he be a "moth" even though his feathers appear normal to me All advice will be heeded Cindy
