  1. Karen, it was as always fun being in that aviary or yours, and not only that, I got to hold I think about 20 little pink blobs!! and on top of THAT, you transformed my hubby's opinion about those ugly but cute pink blobs!! (Laughing out loud).. I just can't wait to see how some of your babies feather out! espcially Kaya's eldest..
  2. Okie, Chase is a male recessive pied... But should an iris ring or two develop, I'll let you all know.. Lovey, were you asking me about Chase's eyes being plum or not, or was that directed at Karen and Chase's parents? I personally haven't looked into his eyes, but I'll have to have a look a bit later... I think flash on the camera seems to bring that out quite nicely right?!?! Oh on that I've decided that Chase and Blondie are both males upon seeing their two siblings who are girls and the ceres have turned very brown. Blondie's cere's about the same as Chase's, but with a bit more creamish nostril rings.

Oh Hey Rachel!! I'm the other weirdo you met while you were over in WA!! I've been kinda slack with reading the whole forum! tee hee.. Welcome!! I was just asking Nerwen about you, and she pointed me to this thread. Glad to hear that little Scuttle is settling well. He looks like a real cutie pie.
  4. Here're my guesses for mutations... correct me if I'm wrong please. Dad... Yellowface2 cobalt spangle (possibly Opaline, but need to see the back of daddy to be sure) Mum... Dominant pied dilute greywing spangle (possibly yellowface2, may be green. need to see the chest area/body colour) Baby Dominant pied Greywing cobalt spangle Oh I think baby's a girl.
  5. no worries. Goofy can't fly really.. he glides very well though. He hasn't got lift at all.. .he can fly horizontally across the room for a few meters, but he can't get height. I'm waiting for his clipped feathers to come out and let him be. :hap: He's a flirty little guys too with his two cage mate.
  6. GORGEOUS!!!! Those babies are just so cute!! Oh and there's my little Buddha.. he's looking great!!!
  7. Oh Lovey, Isn't it stressful to be a mommy to one of these little ones?!?!? (Laughing out loud) If it helps you at all... Goofy has so far moulted all his baby bars on the head, and I can see a whole lot of body feathers (the new ones are brighter and more brilliant in blue colour), but I've yet to see see any clipped primary moulted. So don't worry, just give it some times.. He'll be flying soon enough..
  8. Hi Lovey I agree with Rainbow. My initial thoughts were that Merlin is still missing about five primary flights feathers. The 'little' feathers on top I assuming you're talking about covert feathers, they won't grow any longer. It's there to actually protect their secondary and primary flight feathers. It looks like Merlin has still got a long way to go. I have trimmed 7 of Goofy's primary feathers in hope of taming him down, but to no avail... I'm not expecting all his flight feathers to grow back for a few months yet. He's having his first moult now (my spikey). And also they tend to moult the flight feathers slowly to keep their ability to fly, and you'll see that they'll moult the same feathers on each wings. I hope I made sense!!
  9. I agree with Dominant Pied Yellowface 2 Skyblue. :nest: Kiry, She's a Yellowface two because her yellow is spread pass her head/face into her body. whether this bleed into the blue or not, it stills classified her as a YF2 bird.
  10. Wooohooo... I just tried reading the site Rainbow linked to, and may that just went over my head!!! (Laughing out loud)..I'm sooo stumped!! Oh well I'll just wait and see if the iris rings pop up or not.. Chase's having the first moult, so hopefully it'll turn up sometimes soon if he is a form of dominant pied.
  11. Nerwen, Chase's Cere is turning purplish loosing more and more of that that whitish rings around the nostril, but I guess Chase could very well be a girl. Chase's cere reminds me of my Quake's cere, started out looking like boy, then wasn't sure if it's a boy or a girl, and now well he looks like he can't make up his mind.. Quake's a he since I've seen him trying to mate with YueLiang (I was watching about a foot away.. he certainly wasn't shy about it!! (Laughing out loud)) Here's a picture of Quake's cere. Where the blue is was where the whitish cream was making me think that he's a she... but it turned out blue in the end... Here's one of Quake earlier on.... (this picture was taken on the 23rd of May) so the cere's colour has only recently turned blue. And here's one of little Chase I took earlier today...
  12. (Laughing out loud).. Hath, you MUST have been worried about the 1/4 point if you scoured every question to find it!! hehehehe You know, I find that I did learn from that (not that I looked there before I answered it), but there are things that I picked up there reading it, so it helped me understand a few more bits of genetics.
  13. Awww, love your babies!!! I love their full crop!! (Laughing out loud).. Blossom reminds me of my little Fatty Lemon after she's eaten and all too lazy to move around!!! (Laughing out loud)..
  14. Rainbow...The picture Daz's trying to show is a picture of the the webpage you linked to. Wing edging.. that's the term for it.. I couldn't think of it before. Thanks. I can't see the yellow on Daz's first bird. She looks YF1 to me. Although she does look cinnamonish to me, but it could be my monitor. May be the cinnamon colour in comparison the the black on the baby is making the white look yellowish?? meaning, the white not so defined. Oh in the YF2 opaline series, the bird would have shades of green there as the yellow would bleed into the blue/grey on the wing and shoulder making it a shade of green. and also, you'll get more yellow edging towards the tips of the coverts feathers, and even the flight feathers eg... Bubble's new baby Bao, she's a YF2 Opaline. and a YF1 opaline would have the yellow face, but with blue or grey on the wing and shoulder. In the YF2 Spangle series... the whole wings would be yellow with black edging (eg Bubble's Swift's YF2 babies), unlike the 'normal' spangle (without the YF2 gene) the wings are white with black edging (eg Blinkie). I personally haven't seen a YF1 Spangle yet, but my money is that the bird will look like a 'normal' spangle but with a yellowface.
  15. I wonder if he's really a recessive pied!! I mean if both parents are recessive pied, it's gotta be recessive pied... Hmmm...
  16. Yeah I'm thinking I can pop in to feed them, but i can't stay really either. I have my flock to look after as well.. Lin, a fast car sounds great to me... oh and the handcuffs too.. (Laughing out loud)
  17. If I go back I will STEAL Bao I need to visit sometime in August, Karen will let you know when, as she is picking up some tiels for me. Will probably be a Saturday, as I have to work the odd Sunday now. Oh August... could be a problem then.. pending when in August. I am leaving 6th of August (Sunday) to head to Singapore then to Penang for a month!! Yeah, but how easy is it to run past Bao's mommy to get to the car I wonder... hey Lin, may be if I distract Bao's mommy while you sneak away into your car?? would that work you think??
  18. (Laughing out loud)... I think Lin will have to be happy with her 'godmother' role to Bao, because I don't think Karen is giving her away for adoption... Hey Lin, let us know when you wanna go visit.. I'll see if I can come and join ya for a little 'budgie fix' trip.
  19. (Laughing out loud) Karen... that's funny!!! Ya know, I kinda think they look funky!! I've got a budgie that was plucked by her mum at a very young age, and now some of her feathers stick out like that... but of course not to that extent...
  20. So that makes that cinnamon baby a girl right ? Kaya's partner is a YF2 spangle boy. Well that depends on if the father is split to Cinnamon or not. If you know that he's really NOT split for cinnamon, then yes, the baby is a girl!
  21. Awwww, what a good mommy Boris is!!! soooo cute!! I'm surprise to see that she's still so friendly with you even with babies..I jsut thought that all mommy turn evil when they have babies!! (Laughing out loud).. guess I was wrong!! or you have the exception!!

Awww, those English budgies are just such gentle giants.. I do love their temperament.. Oh, yes I read the other 'secret'... I didn't want to go there, but I just couldn't help it anymore... had to take a peek!!! (Laughing out loud)
  23. hmmmmmm okay, so as I thought, my example was incorrect... I should have used the otherone I had in mind!!! (Laughing out loud)... oh well, now I know. Thanks Lovey.
