I didn't think that i fancy the crested budgies too much, but oh my am i wrong!! Those are just soooo gorgeous!! I can see why your daughter is so smitten by Pal... What a gorgeous little darling!! Oh you have a very pretty little darling daughter there too...
  2. just curious.. by adding oil to the seeds, would that like add extra fat content to the sometimes already fatty food?!?! i would have thought for such a small little creatures, even the tiniest added oil would mean a huge amount of fat going into their little bodies.. afterall, in comparison for their size, that'll be like us human eating four table spoon of oil per meal or something....
  3. does Stormy have black or blueish tail feathers? If he has black tail, it means he's a grey opaline, if he has blue he's a mauve opaline like Bubbles mentioned. As with Winter, She's either an albino (she will have red eyes), Dark Eyed clear (she'll have completely black eyes) or a DF spangles (she'll have dark/black eyes with white iris ring around the edge, and she may also have very very faint blueish or greyish tinge on her body) They are both absolutely gorgeous. And welcome with posting pics.
  4. I'm with Luso on this one. :hap:
  5. she's gorgeous. She's a grey cinnamon opaline spangle. :hap: Gorgeous girl!! I want her.
  6. I bought those ones awhile back.. the four cage deal that is.. now I have spare cages sitting around I don't know what to do with them!! (Laughing out loud)
  7. I don't think the little one likes the heat too much. He seems fairly quiet yesterday when I visited, but look how active his was at night with you!! What a cute vid by the way.. I hope it is only the heat that's bugging the little guy. So so so sorry to hear about Macey gray!! She was a good looking bird. I'm shock today to hear that, she was looking great yesterday. :fear
  8. I would think that she is a double factor dominant pied. Have a look closer to both eyes. My DF dom pied only has one iris ring. dark on one side, iris ring on one. :fear Free is beautiful!! Is it semi tame? or not at all?!?! Just curious..
  9. If he makes it through I would let you have him Cheeta Aww, thanks Karen. I promise i'll take good care of the little guy. and i hope he makes it through now more than ever!! hehehehe... not that i didn't want him to make it through before.. hehe yeepee... a new baby!! hubby's going to love this!! (Laughing out loud).
  10. (Laughing out loud) Bubbles... that's coz almost your entire flock are made out of blue budgies!!!
  11. Hmmm look, see, and take... hmmm I do like the sound of that one.. hehe.. I've always wanted a dom pied opaline spangle... Lovey, I'll see what I can do... (Laughing out loud).. oh it is hard each time I go over there and walk away empty handed!!! (Laughing out loud)
  12. Awww, Miracle is just the perfect name for the little guy!! He is simply gorgeous!!! :dbb1: Lovey, I'd take him in a heartbeat if Karen's ready to give it up.. hehehe.. but somehow I don't think so.. :ausb:
  13. Baby one i think looks to be a greywing. If he is a greywing, I'm guessing both parents are split for greywings (none of them look greywing to me). I think the blue is a 'light' cobalt.. but I can't really tell... Baby two is a dom pied opaline spangle! like mommy. I think it's the the faint spangle marking?!?! could be greywing I guess. Have to see it in person to make that call.. hehe. :dbb1:

i don't give my birds cuttlebone, instead i actually get the calcium carbonate powder and mix that in with their seeds. The very fine powder of the calcium carbonate coats the seeds and they hull the seed, they get the calcium powder with it, so they get the calcium that way. :bluebudgie:
  15. i'm so glad to hear that the little one is still with us today. fingers all crossed!!
  16. Kazza, if you ever feel the need to, I am more than happy to help with hand feeding the 'reject' babies. The only thing is of course they'll need to come and live with me for the time that I'm looking after them. I have a brooder set-up that I use for my quail babies, that should be okay to use as well for budgie babies. Just let me know hunif you want me to do that for you. If by any chance I have success in handrearing the baby, I'll of course bring it back to you when I know that it can crack seeds and eat on it's own. I know you're doing the best to save these babies, but sometimes like you said, nature knows best. But keep in mind what I've said. May be it'll make it easier for you to take care of the rest of your beautiful flock. cheers
  17. Bea, I have not actually seen one for budgie (and hope I never will), but I've seen ones they have for bigger parrots and cockatoos, and I think it is just wrong too.
  18. if you're talking about leg leeshes, then that's not recommended at all. It's considered as bad 'birdy practice'. Simply because if you have a bird in a leg leesh and the bird decides to take off, you can easily break their tiny little leg.
  19. Awww, adorable babies!!! They are soooo cute!! I wanna cuddle. hehehe
  20. (Laughing out loud), that's too funny. Poor Cookie. Love the last picture and Cook's expression.. it's like he's saying.. 'mum, please help!!!'..
  21. I would imagine you would get all opaline babies from this pair since both parents are opaline, and opaline is sex linked. :hap: Seems like they are both split for greywings too. Baby 1 is just gorgeous! Like buddha with the pied spot.
