Mings Babies Update
nice babies!! Ming's babies... Any boys you get will be split for Cinnamon since Ming's a Lacewing hen. First picture.. I think it's a spangle cobalt. Second picture... I Think it's violet normal Third picture is skyblue opaline spangle (possibly cobalt pending on how much the colour had been washed out by the flash of the camera) Second pair babies... I think both YF2, one on left is an Opaline, and the other a normal.

What Am I?
you forgot yellowface. how can you tell? Recessive pied in a green base is yellow all over. http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26/darrylw/DSCN5189.jpg Here is a male green recessive pied in the green series. Not that he may not be yellow face but it's so hard to tell from looking. Daz, you mentioned that this bird is cobalt, which means that he's gotta be a yellowface. He can't be a yellow base green bird for the blue to show through.

It's nice to come back after a long weekend away to see all nice pics on the net of gorgeous babies for sure!!! When I first saw the baby pics of this particular baby (the one posted specially for Shawna) I was going to say that it looks like a dom pied to me (from the second round of pics, the second and the last pics showed a very dom pied spot on the back of the head...), which means that it can't be Kaya and Sonny's babies. and I guess my very tired eyes didn't deceive me.. What gorgeous little darling!!! and boy that Cinnamon is growing up to be such a pretty girl isn't she!! :wine Oh and princess parrots?!?!?! I'll be over there EVERYDAY if you have babies!!! I LOVE those guys!! I'd love to have a handraised one one og these days.. hehehe..

What Are We
My first instinct told me that Milo is an Opaline. The lines on the head are very 'faded', even those marking on the 'v' section is somewhat not consistent as well. There's definitely grey/mauve in the back and wing area, just not very prominent. I would say that little Milo would be a badly marked Opaline.

Pics Of Babies Doing Good
Here's my opinion... First lot... YF2 cobalt normal, and two YF2 cobalt opaline (I say YF2 because I see yellow in tail feathers) Second lot. I agree with Shawna, not sure about clearflight, have to look at the body. and I think that's just a normal grey or blue, one or the other.

Gum Gum Gum

I didn't think two spangles produce only spangle babies. I got it confused with double spangles pair. well Karen, I think we might have problem deciding which chick belongs to which parents.

I'm guessing Kaya's baby (it looks like Cinnamon wings). Then again, Prince split for Cinnamon (so the baby would be a girl). I've forgotten how spangle works... If both parents are spangle, wouldn't they only get spangle babies (and DF spangle)?? IF that's the case then it's obviously not Prince and Maceys. :glare: Just my two cents.. I just woke up, so my brain cells aren't working yet... :fear

Homemade Budgie Toys
wow Bea, Those looks good!! I bet they'll all love it!! Though I have a little concern. Those children's beads colouring, do you know how they painted it and also is it polished? I am wondering if it's toxic to bird or not...

Scratching His Bum!
Welshman, I have 3 budgies out of my 21 that do that. I have not found the reason why they do it. They have done it all their lives as well. I've had them as chicks. two siblings and also another one. They seem to clean their backside using their feet whereas the others preen using their beak. I am not too worried about mine doing that as i see nothing wrong with them. but if you are worried about it and want to make sure, I would say just take him to an avian vet to check it out. In my opinion, I think it's just one of those quirky things that only some budgies do. Just my opinion of course.

Do You Have A Favourite......
my favourite mutation is when there's a combo of opaline and Spangle.

(Laughing out loud). poor Ozzie being mocked by Blink. They are looking great as always!

Actually, that is not true in the case of YF1. YF1 are white base blue birds with yellow confine to their face (unlike the YF2), and the YF factor doesn't affect the rest of the body.

Finally! Theres Action . . .
I'm so so so sorry Nathan that this happened to your little precious one. Things happen, but unfortunately this time it just didn't work out the best that we had hoped. You didn't know that this would happen, and certainly Ariel showed all signs of wanting to be a mother. I guess we just didn't know that Ariel would be so agressive to a new born baby. I'm so sorry hun, hopefully Belle will know her duties with the other chicks that are ready to be hatched.
