hmmm interesting... is the top right picture in the link the Kale that you're talking about? the lacey looking leafy veg? You know, I don't even recall seeing anything like that here in the shop!! umm members from Australia.. are they available here? anyone here use them? I have heard a lot of good thing about it, so would love to give it to my flocks. If I can get my hands on some.. hehe Edit... I just look around on images search.. and those flowering cabbages/kale, are they the same as what you are talking about? you know they are pink or white in the middle? I think I've seen those around, but not very often though.

Pine cone is absolutely fine to use as a toy like people have mentioned... the wild cockatoos around here love eating them straight out of the tree, so that must mean that it's okay for the little budgies as well. As with aviary I really am not sure what would be the best option. My aviary is slabbed. so it's just concrete pretty much. I let the husk falls to the floor for the quails to run around in comfort then providing a little dish of sand tray off the side for anyone who may be interested in playing in the say, and both budgies and quails take turns in the little sand/dirt dish. To be honest, I don't clean my aviary floor that often. I will do it if I know that the husks have gotten too much moisture in it therefore will get moldy, or if the budgies poop are becoming too much. I find that my quails and budgies just love 'burrowing' into the husks in the corner (generally where it's the thickest) and make an indent and just sit in it. Kinda like nesting but not.

can I ask what Kale is please? I've heard it alot, but when I do a search for it, they say that it is a group of veggies which includes brocolli, cauliflower etc etc... what you guys mentioned Kale, do you mean a specific type of veg? or just a general group of veg? if it's a specific type of veg, does it have another common name for it? Thanks.

oh my budgies would kill for the rope perch! That's why I have to put the rope perch on a lower position so they don't all crowd on this one perch!! (Laughing out loud)
  22. hehe, the budgies in the hair trick.. it's definitely doable here with my hair.. it's EXTREMELY long.. just ask Karen.. I think she just realised how long my hair is on Monday when I went for a visit!! (Laughing out loud)
  23. Only two of my budgies will touch those evil brocolli!! (Laughing out loud).. glad to see that yours like to munch down on them.
  24. yep, my birds did it today too, wings all stretched out.... warm today for them. my budgies will take to the water differently.. some will jump in a bowl of water, some will go under dripping droplets, some in a bowl full of lettuces, some will just take a mist spray.. all birds will want to get wet one way or another at some point in their life.. so you just gotta figure out what he does.. in the mean time on hot days, I just spray them all down for a cooling effect!!
  25. (Laughing out loud).... Feathers, the difference between you and lovey is that you're actually doable!!! Kaz... one in my christmas stocking as well ay?!?! Might as well join in the queue..
