  1. very cute. :hap: I must say though I've never really been a big fan of green budgies (I have too many of them!! (Laughing out loud)) but boy if your little girl gorgeous!!
  2. actually, my double factor dom pied has pink cere. He has only one iris rings.
  3. hi hi, Welcome. You've got some amazing looking budgies there!! :dbb1: a great variation for sure.
  4. I'm with Kirby here. Although it can be a double factor dom pied, but I Think it's more likely a recessive pied since I don't see any iris rings, and the cere as Kirby's mentioned has pink cere.
  5. My understang of air 'cleaner' is that if it's filter, it's fine, but if it's a purifier, you should be more cautious. Most people advice against that I've talked to in the cockatoo worlds (as I have a cockatoo) and I personally have stayed clear of any air cleaner, I have done some research, and i've read some horible reports on air purifiers not passing the 'ozone level releasing' test. so do a lot of research into it. Ozones are bad for both you and your birds.
  6. So sorry for your lost. I saw the video, my first impression was that your bird may have had a stroke of some sort may be? She seemed alert enough, but cannot move her body. At the start of the video where you gentley nudged the bottom of the feet and she didn't respond to that. In the past when I looked after a really sick bird, when she was on the verge of dying, she had a grip response when I touch the bottom of her feet. May be your little one had a stroke which caused her to be paralysed hence the lack of movement and also the quickness of going from a normal bird to a very sick bird. Sorry once again for your loss.
  7. He is just sooooo gorgeous!!!! Love that first picture of him.. he does look very cheeky there!!
  8. Lovey and I were chatting and going back and forth on different pictures and though it may seem petty , I just have to wrap my mind around it. Here are my thoughts... You know how the spangle gene reverses the pattern on the bird's wings making them much more yellow/white, and I thought with the spangle gene coupling with the clearwings, that would give that effect of a green bird with an almost pure yellow wings or a blue/grey bird with an almost pure white wing. Lovey sent me a link for pics of clearwings while we were chatting away... http://www.budgieplace.com/colors.html (click on dilution), as you can see the wings are still greyish, not almost pure yellow. So together with the wing pattern/colour, and also the tail looking fairly white/yellow on my monitor for bird number three, I thought that there's a possibility of clearwing combined with spangle gene in the bird. of course if I'm wrong, I'm more than happy to change and learn all that is to learn.. afterall I'm here to learn and this whole budgie genetics thing can get so very confusing!! (Laughing out loud)
  9. Nerwen, can I just ask to see if clearwings actually has clear tails as well? because it looks very much like a spangle tails there. I am just wondering that's alll because I originally thought that it was only a clearwings, but after studying the picture, I thought that it had clear tails and that the wings are much too yellow to be clearwings. but of course thats just my understanding. Just wanted to find out if clearwings had cleartails as well. cheers.
  10. 1... normal mauve... could be grey, but I can't really see the tail or the cheek patches to tell. 2... Skyblue recessive pied 3... Light green clearwing spangle 4... cobalt opaline 5... yellowface II spangle cobalt... (that's my little miss Bossy!! :glare: ) 6... Goldenface opaline spangle score: 5 1/2
  11. yes, that yellow DF dom pied would look like Kali's bird only that's a yellow base birds instead of a white base birds. soooo just paint Kali's bird green and yellow, you'll have the same bird!! (Laughing out loud)
  12. Wow, to be honest, that doesn't sound right at all. I am with Lovey, I don't follow what you're saying. Having a creamy face doesn't make a bird yellowface type 1, and having darker yellow golden face doesn't make a bird yellowface type two either. what makes YF type 1 or type 2 is the factor where whether the yellow bleeds into the body colour or not. However having a darker yellowy golden coloured face can mean that the bird is a golden face, that could still be type 1 or type 2. And yes Lovey, my understanding is that both yellowface 1 and 2 are dominants. only the order of dominance goes like this... yellowface type 2, yellowface type 1, then white face blue. Having any yellowface birds breed to a white face blue (not the double factor yellowface) will produce yellowfaces and white faces babies. the only guarantee of having ALL yellowfaces babies are if you one of your bird is a double factor yellowface to a 'normal' white face blue birds.. so two white birds to produce all yellowface babies.
  13. Umm with the white cheek patches, I have dom pied with white cheek patches as well, so that doesn't mean that a bird with white cheek patches are recessive pied. yes given that most of my recessive pieds have white cheek patches, some with blue through. One of my dom pied have a blue cheek patch, and a white cheek patch. :glare: In response to the marking on the wings... I have seen double factor dom pied with markings on the shoulder of the wings... well a little of it anyway. so I do believe that that is possible.
  14. aawwwww... what a sweet looking bird!!! :glare: very nice!! yes the pics definitely help.. and I think they are great pics!! AND I'm still sticking to my very original opinion. only this time I'm going to say that he is a yellowface II doublefactor dominant pied skyblue. Oh, it may or may not happen for your little ones, but sometimes the double factor dominant pied only gets one iris ring. so one side will have the white ring, and the other will seems to be dark/black. though if you look really really closely, you can sort of see a very very faint ring on the dark eye. :ausb: have fun. :budgiedance:

Thanks everyone. Lemon and Goofy both love their carrots now. Although I think the carrots face actually came from them rumaging through the fresh veg to get to other bits and pieces as well. if they were just eating the carrots, I don't think they could get that orange!!! (Laughing out loud).. they still have an orange face. it's funny to see them even though Ihaven't given them carrots for a couple of days, the orange is now like a permanent mark on their faces!! (Laughing out loud). it's really cute. Rainbow... you know I didn't even notice the carrot feet until you mentioned it!! That's so funny!!
  20. Kali, after looking at your pics, I'm thinking that there's some sort of dilute factor in him. He's probably a dilute boy as well. and after seeing the pics, I'm still going to stick to my original opinion may be until I see a clearer shots of the front as well. Daz, Orange beak doesn't indicate recessive pied. My dom pied (Quake) and double factor dom pied (Spirit) both have orange beak as well.
  21. Kali I use Fuji finepix S7000. it's a great camera. I love it. I has a lot of functions. AlthoughI must say though it is a very bulky and chunky camera. now with you budgies, can I please ask where any of the blue are on it? from what I have gathered, on the rump and also a few patches of blue/green on the breast area.. how big are those patches? are they like a full band across the chest or just little patches. I'm still going to say that it is a double factor dom pied from the small avatar photos and from your description. a yellowface definitely.
  22. Feathers, yes Milo came from that expensive store.. hehehe.. They use that clay kitty litter for the bottom giving them all that red/brown colour... yes they gave me the quarantine advice too, but I wasn't going to ask her for the sexing advice... she didn't seems very happy with the fact that Milo nailed her good while getting him out of the cage.. hehehe.. I'll just wait and hope that he's a boy!!! :ausb:
  23. If this little guy is the bird in your avatar picture, then I would say that he is a double factor dominant pied. :hap:
  24. If your budgies don't get at least 10minutes of natural sunlight (not through glasses) then yes, a full spectrum light will help enormously for their vitamin D source. I don't use them as I make sure all my birds get sunlight at least ten to fifthteen minutes, five days a week, so don't really know what they look like. you can do a search for full spectrum light use for reptile or fish, they work the same. May be another member might be able to point you in the right direction. Cheers

Soooo someone or two from my flock finally discovered how deadly fresh veggies can be to one's beautiful look after rumaging through for a good hour or so.... and here's proof... hehe Don't tell them I shared those with you... hehe Goofy and his lady love... Lemon... 'I hope he doesn't see me like this... it's soooo embarassing......' 'What do you mean I've got food on my face?!?!?!?!' 'Honest, I don't know what happened to my face....All I did was eat those healthy food mommy gave me....'
