  1. I always thought if they had a pinky bulbous looking cere they were boys? It looks like I'm sqeezing the life out of him, but I can assure I'm not, he just has a very full crop!!
  2. I thought so too Maesie! I have had a member of the forum waiting for ages for a tame green boy, so I was hoping this is the one!
  3. I'm calling on everyones opinion of the sex of this chick, thanks for your help.
  4. Thankyou so much everyone for your kind thoughts. It has helped a lot with the healing process. I still cant quite believe it has happened though. Jemma will always live on in our hearts

  6. That is a lovely poem Elly, thankyou. Sorry my post upset you. I will suggest to Matthew that he collect all Jemma's photos and make a special album for her. He's pretty keen on keeping one of my cockatiel chicks as a pet when they get a bit older so hopefully it will take his mind off Jemma.

  8. My 13 year old son is so upset about Jemma, he is unconsolable. I have tried to explain that she was in a lot of pain and that she was suffering and the kindest thing to do was to let her go. He has put her collar and the snippets of her fur on our TV cabinet. He has gone to bed crying his eyes out - I dont know what else to do to console him. We are all missing her terribly and I'm still trying to come to terms with it myself while still trying to try and cheer everyone up.

  11. Very unexpected Liv. I was fully expecting to bring her home in a few days as she was slowly improving. But she had a bad relapse today and the vet suggested we end her suffering. Her blood tests revealed her level was almost double of what it should be for a dog with this condition. So she was in lots and lots of pain and the only choice I had was to end her suffering.
  12. My poor Jemma has gone to heaven today.  This morning I went to visit her and we all thought she was on the mend. She was even standing up in her cage and managed a small wag of the tail when she saw me. But the vet said she went down hill rapidly at lunch time. I couldnt bear to see her in so much pain and had the agonising decision to have her put down. A decision which will haunt me for the rest of my life.  Her first and only litter of pups Her very pregnant belly
  13. They think it is pancreatitis but wont know for sure until the blood test results come back which should be tomorrow.
  14. Last Sunday morning we had some gorgeous visitors to our balcony - a pair of King Parrots. I had just placed a tray of soaked seed out in the sun about 2 minutes previously and they devoured them in no time. They were supposed to be for my breeding birds but I just couldnt remove them - they were enjoying them too much!
  15. There hasnt been much change in Jemma - she is still looking very ill. The vet was expecting her to be on the mend today but as yet no change. I have got this really sick feeling in my stomach and after seeing her today I dont think she will be coming home :hap:
  16. I will Neat. I'll ring the vet at 8 am to see how she is and will let you know.
  17. Thanks Deb. Jemma's vet is excellent and I trust her with my life. I know she will do everything humanly possible to get her back to good health once again. It was a complete shock to find her so ill, as she has never been sick before. We seem to think the 2 pups that got into the rubbish bin and ripped the garbage bag apart and spread the contents all over the back yard and Jemma has eaten something she shouldnt have ??
  18. I hope so Maesie, no - I know she will pull through - she has to...... Just a quick footnote - it costs more for a dog to stay in the hospitial overnight than us to stay in a 5 star motel!! $195 per night!
  19. Yesterday afternoon I noticed Jemma (my 6 year old cocker spaniel) standing in the back yard looking very very ill. I took her to the vet immediately in a great panic. She underwent x-rays, blood tests etc which has revealed that she has pancreatitis. She is on a drip for the pain and also a sedative. (She chewed through her tubes last night - the naughty girl!) I visited her again this afternoon and managed to wag her tail just a tiny bit and is looker just a little bit brighter. But she still has a very long way to go before she is back to normal. I hope and pray she recovers, she is one of the family. Some of you might remember me bragging how I'd paid the credit card off ??? Well, its back up to its limit again. But who's complaining, if Jemma lives, its worth every cent.
  20. I'm sure we will have a great time Liv! I'm counting the days!!
  21. I have made good friends with lots of people on this forum but have only met one member in real life and that is Deb. But in just a few short weeks I will meet Maesie!! We have been through thick and thin together and cry on each other's shoulder (via the computer) when times are tough. So I was ecstatic when Maesie emailed me and said she was coming up to see me and Deb!! I for one cant wait !!
  22. :budgiedance: Hope these pics are a bit better!
  23. Yes, Kaz, sorry! Will take some better pics tomorrow
  24. Once again I need everyone's help with sexing these chicks!! I am thinking the first ones a boy, then a girl and lastly a boy??
