  1. Sounds like you all had a fun day! I didnt think Neat could come??? :hap:
  2. Yes Chrissy the reason for the one perch is so they have plenty of room to fly about. :hap:
  3. Would have been even better if you had've been able to join us Neat. Maesie forgot her white glove and she forgot to check the lounges. (Lucky she didnt cause I didnt get round to doing them!)
  4. Well Maesie and Deb arrived this morning and we had a great time! It was good to finally meet Maesie as we have chatted so much on the forum and by PM's about a whole heap of stuff and have become good friends. She had made me a gorgeous photo album especially for my cocker spaniel Jemma who had to be put down a few weeks ago. It is just beautiful. It has her name on the front with dates of her birth and death with an armchair embossed on the front (Jemma would always run up on to her favourite armchair whenever we let her inside.)I have met Deb before when I took her baby budgies up to my place to put with a foster mother. It was a great day and I'm looking forward to meeting some more members in person one day!! The album with a gorgeous little beaded container given to me from Maesie
  5. Well Maesie and Deb (and 2 y.o Lucy!) have just left to go back home. We had a lovely time while they were here. I showed them my menagerie (outside and inside)and went to the club and had lunch and talked "budgies"! We didnt have a lot of time together as Deb had to get home to collect her children from school. It was great to actually meet members of the forum in real life! Didnt get to take any photos of us all together though which was disappointing.;
  6. :hap: You are joking arent you Maesie, about the white glove?? Dont worry Deb, I wont need a nanna nap - I'll be bright eyed and bushy tailed! See you both in the morning! (I feel like the "bird inspectors" are coming! No, only joking .........
  7. Well Maesie and Deb are visiting in the morning so I thought I better try and straighten this house up (as much as you can with two teenagers!). I really didnt know what to do first! I put all the washing on and while I was waiting, I found that the fridge needed a good clean out. I took out everything and got rid of the out of date stuff etc etc. Once that was looking all spic and span I attacked the freezer. Phew! Makes me tired even thinking of it! It now looks brand new again and everything is placed back in there nice and tidily!! I then vacuumed, made the beds, and was just about to step outside to tackle the garden when the phone rang. You guessed it, it was work wanted to know if I could come in for 5 hours . Me being a big softie and cant say "no" had a quick shower and reluctantly went to work thinking of all the things I should be doing before my visitors get here! Well once I got home I whipper snipped and then mowed. That was until I ran out of petrol. So raced down to the garage and filled up the petrol container!! Finally finished the lawn at 5.50 pm. Washed the kitchen floor and then had a sit down for 10 minutes, wondered what to have for tea, and we voted for pizza, so at least I didnt have to cook!! Then I got to wondering what I could serve my guests and decided they might like a home made caramel tart so I have just taken that out of the oven. So now after having not stopped all day I think I will run myself a loooooong hot bath and relax. All I need to do in the morning is weed the garden and clean the aviaries out all before 10am. At least getting visitors makes you do all those jobs that should be done but you keep putting them off till another day!!
  8. I just had to take a photo of my two babies, they looked so cute cuddled up on their swing together!! Sheesh, you need to stop eating all those millet sprays! Are you suggesting I'm.... gulp..... fat?
  9. Hi Neat You are welcome to come up to my place with Maesie and Deb if you'd like!!
  10. Well it's only a matter of days now and I will be getting a visit from Maesie,Deb and her daughter Lucy!! I am busily trying to tidy up and have things looking a bit respectable, if thats possible around here!
  11. Well Spring certainly has sprung up here! My breeding pair of cockatiels are nesting again, my Princess parrots have 2 eggs so far, my Major Mitchells laid their first egg today and my Opaline Grass Parrots are on 4 eggs! So I'm going to busy handrearing this year! (I wont be handrearing the Grass Parrots). And to top it all off my female Cocker Spaniel has come into season for the first time as well, so it's all happening up here!

  14. I have seen bird bunks in pet shops etc but I thought I could make one for half the price if I had a pattern and instructions! So hopefully, seeing we are such a talented lot, that one of you will be able to help me out?? Please?? It's for my budgie "Buddy" so I only need a small one. Thanks!!
  15. Thanks Elly, they seem to really enjoy the aviary! They were all in the enclosed area tonight all snug and warm in their insulated bedroom
  16. That's a great idea Kaz, thankyou for that!!
  17. Good help is hard to find Deb. I once had an issue with my daughter 's so called "teacher" at her pre-school. This one day I stayed with my daughter for half an hour and they were all told to sit down on the mat. They did this and the teacher started to talk about the weather. She was telling the kids what a terrible day it was with all the rain and wind when in fact it was a very sunny day. My daughter put her hand up and told her it wasnt raining and that the sun was out! She said to Lauren," Oh, dont be so stupid!" Well I saw RED !!!! :devil: :devil: I swear this woman had a screw loose. I proceeded to take Lauren by the hand, marched out the door with her and went straight into the Directors office and told her what just happened. I then withdrew Lauren from her class and she was put in with a more "sane" teacher. I got a phone call from this particular teacher that night and she apologized to me for calling my daughter "stupid". Who's the stupid one???? She left a few weeks later !! Now getting back to your problem Deb, I hope everything works out with your son - if you cant get any satisfaction from the school, try different ones, I have found they all vary in the quality of teaching and their dedication to children.
  18. Thanks for the tips everyone, I dont have a safety door Maesie, I guess I'm just going to have to be very careful going in and out. I will try and talk Terry into putting some clear sheeting on the flight area - damn wild birds
  19. Come down under Elly! You can live with us!! PS Photos coming later today!!
  20. I was hoping it would be finished before you came up Maesie! The birds should have well and truly settled in and made themselves at home by next week!!
  21. Well it seems like forever and I never thought I'd be saying this but - wait for it ........... MY AVIARY IS FINISHED !!!!!! It was getting dark by the time we finished so I will take some photos in the morning. I am very excited, I'm going to transfer the budgies into it tomorrow !! Cant wait!! :nest: :nest:
  22. I have bought a CD from Ebay that teaches parrots to talk, it has some very funny phrases on it, cant wait to start training him!!!
