  1. Why dont you have a wishing well at your wedding where people give cash instead of a present? What ever amount you receive for your wedding could go towards your new appliances!
  2. I would say it's just a freak of nature! I will keep an eye out for it as I walk everyday so hopefully it stays in the same area where I saw it. I so wanted a photo of it! I just googled white galahs and this is what I foundhttp://images.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=...l%3Den%26sa%3DN
  3. aww sad, Is a galah a cockatoo like bird? This a photo of a galah Jodie oh, thanks its cute you guys must think im stupid now, dont you No of course not Jodie! You wouldnt have any in England, they are native to Australia

  5. This morning I was on my daily walk and spotted a flock of galahs on the ground picking at the seeds and grasses when something caught my eye. Amongst all the pick and grey I spotted a gorgeous white and pink one! It was so stunning! I tried to take a photo with my mobile but by the time I managed to get it out of my pocket and figure out which button was for the camera they flew away.
  6. Yes, maybe you should!
  7. Yes I know Denise. But it comes in handy when you need to buy new appliances in a hurry as we had to do unfortunately. Fingers crossed we wont have the need for anything else (unless of course I need something for my birds!) and we can save some money for a change.
  8. Oh no Denise - I am so sorry Dont be too hard on yourself though after all it was a complete accident. Unfortunately sometimes things happen like that and there's nothing much we can do about it. We all forget to do things which have a big impact sometimes. Biggest hugs to you and your family :angel1: Its also very sad about your finches, some days you just shouldnt get out of bed......
  9. Thanks very much for your lovely comments Kaz and Dodger. Good things do come my way every now and then and its lovely but the thing I treasure most is my wonderful friendship with so many lovely people on this forum.
  10. Okay, so today is my day off and I had a lot to catch up on. Did some housework etc than went grocery shopping. Our main shopping complex was built on rather a steep slope so to get your groceries out to your car without tipping the trolley over requires a great amount of skill. I was just about to embark on this impossible task when a lovely lady (about 55 -60) whom I had never met asked me if I needed help. I politely say no thankyou but she helped me anyway! She helped manouvre the trolley right over to my car and then held the trolley while I unpacked my groceries into the car! In this day and age this sort of gesture is very rare and I was very grateful for her help. I thanked her a dozen times but she thought it was nothing! Its lovely to come across such lovely people every now and then! So I get back in my car and start to drive home and my phone rings. Its my boss from work. I thought "Oh God, what have I done now?" (I got counselled yesterday as my till was over $50 - for those of you who dont know I am a "checkout chick at Big W") She tells me they have some parrot seed they were going to throw out as all the boxes are faulty and would I like some? Well you can guess what I said! I was there in 2 minutes flat and they had 6 huge bags of budgie, small parrot mix and wild bird seed for me!! So I wont need to buy any for a long long long time! Must be my lucky day! Someone up there likes me!!!!
  11. I just love how the cocks share in the incubation! It's really sweet.
  12. Wow!! Congratulations!!
  13. Thanks LisaVenn. I had a feeling there might be some friction if I colony bred. I usually only have one pair no matter what type of parrot to an aviary.
  14. Thanks Neat, will look into them.
  15. That's the one I have! Going to cancel it and find a much cheaper one!! ( I hope )
  16. Clever girl! Dont get one either!
  17. Thanks Maesie! I tend to "stress out" when I owe money! To make it worse is when they add 19.99% interest every month! Lately we've had to buy a new oven, fridge, and 3 new mattresses so our balance was quite high! I know how you feel Libby! Its ridiculous the charges associated with credit cards. Huge interest rates, late payment fee, annual fee etc etc etc. Makes me so mad! :hap:
  18. After my previous post, it got me wondering if anyone here has a really good cheap credit card they could recommend? I am sick to death of paying huge interest rates. I've been on the net checking them all out and I'm totally confused!!
  19. I couldnt help myself - I just had to check the nest box! There's 3 eggs so far!!!! :hap:
  20. This is probably very boring to most of you but for me its a huge relief! My partner's tax refund was deposited into our account today and when asking him what he was going to do with it he told me to do whatever I liked with it! Well I could've gone shopping or bought a heap more budgies. But I had a huge amount of self dicipline and paid 3/4 of our Visa off. And it feels so good! Usually with my pay I have been paying it all towards the Visa and I seemed to be getting nowhere fast! After just a few more payments we will have a zero balance!!!! :hap:
  21. I have had to do it in the past but you need to be very very careful! A pair of tweezers is best to break tiny pieces of shell away till the chick is free.
  22. Well I'm pleased to report that there are now 2 more chicks have hatched from this clutch and the mother is feeding them very well. I left the eldest one with its foster mother. (I dont want to push my luck). There is still one egg to hatch. I candled it tonight but couldnt tell if chick is dead or alive. I suppose time will tell.
  23. Hi Rusty59 - it can take from 12 - 24 hours for the chick to break out of the shell. Can you hear it chirping? The mother doesnt help as far as I know. It should be hatched by the morning!
  24. Brittany - as we pointed out in your other post your birds are too young to be breeding. You need to take the nest box out of the aviary to let them rest once this new clutch of eggs hatch and the chicks are weaned. It takes a great deal out of them (especially the hen) to lay eggs and rear the chicks.
  25. How old is the one that you bred last year?
