Thanks everyone Well the test results are back - I am pleased to say there is no trace of liver or kidney disease or diabetes :hap: The vet is convinced it is a thyroid disorder, and has given me an iodine supplement to put in her water for the next 3 weeks. On top of that she is still on a dose of baytril for 3 weeks as well, to try and clear up her runs. She still isn't looking better yet though

Oh Shawna My thoughts are with you and your family during this hard time. I hope and pray that your son pulls through this full of life - he is a brave little fighter and I am sure that he will fight thru this. (((((HUGS)))))) :angel1:

I have been concerned about Sherbie's health for a little while, she has had runny poops for a long time and has been on one dose of baytril, which helped a little but I wasn't satisfied. Lately I noticed her very lethargic and fluffy and I am really worried about her health. She went to the vets on Friday, and he was concerned with her heart rate being slow. He thinks she may have either a thyroid disorder or liver disease :fear She was back at the vets today to get some blood tests done - she had to be anesthetized so they could take the blood, and because of her low blood pressure he couldn't take as much as he wanted. If it is a thyroid problem it can't be tested because they need more blood than they can get from a budgie. They can only take 0.3 of a ml - that is such a tiny amount of blood At the moment she is on her own in the lounge room with us. She is getting lots of extra special attention and is on another dose of baytril for 3 weeks to try and clear up her poop. When it was examined the vet couldn't find anything in there that would be causing it to be runny. The test results come back tomorrow, and if they find nothing wrong then he is going to put her on and iodine supplement to see if it is a thyroid disorder. If it is the iodine will help her, but she will have to stay isolated from the other budgies. I hope that my sweet little girl starts to perk up soon, or at least if there is something wrong we can get her on the right treatment to make her feel better

I decided today that I needed to make my budgie room a bit of a makeover, so I did a bit of furniture rearrangement and making some new toys for them to play with... The cage, settled on its own cabinet with mats underneath it to protect the cabinet The playgym has been moved in and the cabinet it's sitting on was moved in from the loungeroom- this is our liquor cabinet so I hope the budgies don't party too hard when we aren't home!! I made this today - like a little budgie toy mobile - or a clothesline hehe A wide shot of the play area Before I hung up the toy this was all they had to play on Sunny is a bit unsure of the new toys Bobby is having a go!!! Oh that's what he wanted - himself The other 2 wont even venture from the cage! Bobby seems happy to have his playgym back - awww give us a hug!!! The cage door is always open, except at night time when I tuck them in and cover the cage. I still let them out to play with me, mainly Bobby & Sparkie as they are the only one's interested in hanging out with me! I hope they enjoy it in here!

Mine mostly like to sit around and Bobby rides around on my shoulder a lot Sunny doesn't move much at all but if they want to fly they can and that is important

Bobby is going through yet another moult, and was horrified recently to find his beloved tail feather had fallen out! :oliveb: He had a duck butt for a while and he didn't like being teased about it! Here is a vid I took of him trying to get it back!! :ausb:

Oh Una I am so sorry that this is happening to you - I wish there was something we could do to help you ((((((((HUGS)))))))) I don't have any advice I could offer but I hope and pray that you can get the meds you need as soon as possible and start treating your birds... Take care Love Sherrie

OMG Elly - I am so shocked and sorry to hear this. Pretty was such a special budgie to all of us and I can't imagine how you must be feeling right now. Big hugs to you, you did the very best you could do and Pretty was so lucky to have you as a Mummy - he had the best possible life a budgie could have, and although short, I bet every single moment was treasured. beautiful Pretty - You beautiful bird may you now fly free.

I hope Peter is feeling better :hap: I am so happy you are taking such good care of him. I have a very stubborn budgie who would not touch his vegies for the world, so I cooked a little extra one night and blended it all together really mushy - nothing chunky. Then I put a teaspoon in a small bowl and sprinkled seed over the top. As I went on I put less and less seed on and it was still eaten, so now I only have to sprinkle a tiny bit on just to entice them to it (they wont touch it if there is no seed on it at all) All the vegies are steamed so they don't lose a lot of their nutrients, and you can put in whatever you like What is leftover of the mash I put into ice cube trays and freeze it, so then I just have to pop out one block and defrost it. Make sure you have lots and lots of patience as budgies like to see you waste food Good luck and I hope Peter gets better really really soon.

I agree with Boom's, My Sunshine loves his little ball at the bottom of his cage, it very rarely gets messed on and if it does, it isn't much to clean it off! it is quite cute actually seeing him throw it around Jimie is gorgeous A very pretty budgie Sounds like she is a sweetheart!

Bobby was sitting on my shoulder today and sneezed on me, I felt wet all over my cheek I have never been sneezed on before and wasn't expecting moisture! Is it normal for a budgie to sneeze wet sneezes??
