Hi Sammy, Welcome I am so sorry to hear of you recent loss of your pet galah, I can't imagine how quiet the house would be without birds, and budgies sure do bring so much joy and happiness to our lives I would love to see some pics of your turtle if you have the time to post them in off topic!! I hope your budgie quest doesn't take you too long and you find your new feathered friend soon!
  8. Hi there! Congrats on your newest family member, Marty sure is a beautiful boy May I ask where abouts in Melbourne is BirdCity?? Do they have lots of good accessories as well as birds??
  9. :(Laughing out loud): How cute!! Bobby gets excited too when he hears video's of other birds!

What bothers me mostly about these is that most petshops and companies that sell "kits" always include these perch covers The majority of people out there who buy birds from pet shops would never thing to join an online forum or research something that the pet store has told them is the right thing to do... I always heard that it was painful on the soft pads of their little feet but I never thought it would do that much damage. Poor little Blue, I hope he is okay now.

Oh look at him! What a gorgeous cheeky boy!
  18. I find that although Sherbie, Sparkie and Sunshine aren't at all interested in being tamed, they are happy to go for a ride on my shoulder if I put them there, and will stay there for quite a while. Try coaxing you're budgie onto your finger with millet, they soon forget they are on the scary finger when they are enjoying tasty millet, the take it away, talk to them, then bring it back saying good boy/girl when they stay! Another thing I do is I always say "up" when I present my finger to them, and they step onto it

Oh how adorable!! I was beside myself with excitement the first time I saw Bobby take a lettuce bath!! They are so much fun to watch
  21. Hi Bodd45 Any updates on your budgie??? As budgies are so naturally chatty I would be concerned that silence is the first symptom that something isn't quite right. I think it would be a good idea to go off to the avian vets for at least a check up. Good luck and please keep us updated.

Vonn your Lukie sounds like such a little character!! I have a big round rope swing that my budgies love, its the first swing they were ever interested in I have a wooden ladder swinging from the roof of the cage and Bobby liked to sleep up there on the topmost rung... Elly I love the sound of your "squishy" ladder!! You wouldn't be able to post a picture of it would you??
  23. Riebie replied to Vonn's post in a topic in Budgie Behaviour
Hehe I was just going to add that Bobby is a sleep talker!! I will often hear him chattering and talking away to himself and when I go to him I find him with his head firmly planted between his wings!! So cute!! I love the total silence demands, how gorgeous!! But if it becomes a problem for you then I suggest always having some background noise on so that he doesn't get used to the silence!! I've heard of people tip-toeing around for a baby to sleep, but never a budgie!!!

He is just gorgeous! Poor lil guy having to get his hand rearing formula cut off. My Bobby is a sky/violet too, but as he is an opaline the violet shows through in his wings, and has darkened his skyblue to nearly cobalt!! Congratulations
  25. Your aviary sounds beautiful, and I would agree with the others too, if there is no trouble then its best to leave things as they are, if you notice anything out of sorts, then will be the time to react, otherwise, enjoy!
