  1. Its a little ambiguous actually.........males would have quite pinky purple ceres and females would be more whitish pink. The photo doesnt show it well. Describe the actual colour you can see
  2. Kaz does NOT know all............Kaz was asking for a photo that was taken without FLASH
  3. That would be their choice to make....noone can say what someone else would do. They arent vets. A lot of budgie members help each other out though...you just have to ask.
  4. I put the white DF spangle cock I got from member Splat with this grey hen bred by Cec Gearing recently. Came home from a couple of days away and found their first two chicks in their nestbox. As I recall there were around 6 eggs and most were fertile ( will double check the other eggs tomorrow to be sure as I am going off what I saw last time I candled ) . She is the mother of chicks.....Frannie, Mac and Nubbly.
  5. In this case pied is involved BUT often spangles have the patch on the back of their head where no pied is involved. These patches can also be a spangle thing
  6. Sorry to disagree but I agree with Shannon on the second bird as I have had two such birds.
  7. I wish you success too clancy. Its just that your topic title clancys success with breeding indicates you have the success part already going for you. All i say is........Its too soon to be calling it successful no matter how you breed them.
  8. No. Not a slate. http://www.budgieplace.com/v_slate2.jpg

Take non flash photos after you remove the happy hut and quarantine the birds in seperate cages seperate rooms
  10. Quarantine will be a must do thing with you one day ( and should be now ) when you lose birds to illness and realise its importance as we all have and hence why we advise quarantine
  11. **KAZ** replied to Maddy's topic in Budgie Talk
Remove the happy hut. It will cause you and the budgies problems and you really dont need the happy hut anyway. They dont need beds to sleep in and it will give them ideas The pied looks female to me.
  12. Ring cutters are available from any good bird supply store ( cut twice once on each side of the ring so it falls away ) .........................ivermectin is mostly a vet suply thing in small amounts. Joining a budgie club gives you access to priducts like this. The need to remove the ring when the leg swells is URGENT .......dont waste time or the hen can lose her leg once the blood supply is cut off.
  13. **KAZ** replied to a post in a topic in What Sex Is My Budgie?
Bobby is a boy and Kassy is a girl
  14. Do you have a better photo of the cere ? Is there a lot of white on it ?
  15. Either of the parents has attacked the chicks. The Mums do it sometimes to start another clutch or it may have been the dad. You need to work out which parent is doing it and remove them. The fact that there is no food in the crop may m,ean they arent being fed or as it was early morning may just mean they hadnt been fed yet. See if you can work out the attacking parent for sure and remove it and give us more info.
  16. Sounds like there is french moult budgies in there too.
  17. If Yellowbelly is seen in a newly hatched chick it is about an early hatching not salmonella in my opinion. I had two such chicks while you have had this topic due to the mother opening the eggs when she heard pipping. They died.
  18. You take lovely photos :hmm:
  19. Might be too soon...baby budgies could get silly and stay in there But I dont really know. Try it I guess
  20. Three years ago I had a bird in a show that was deemed dilute but the judge said it could go either way ( same judge by the way ) this topic http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....5&hl=ferris
  21. Seperate the young female from the male as she can get stressed and sick by him bothering her. So do you have four budgies not three ?
  22. very cute With all this breeding success have you got a kindie cage set up for all your soon to be fledged and independant babies ?
  23. You may have found her just after laying her egg. When I said where was she...I meant inside in breeding cage or outside in an aviary ? How old is she ?
  24. Where is she ?
