I must say something....and its likely to have happened in this case too. Many times a budgie will just die. What happens to them after they die and before you get to them in the aviary or cage proves the point that budgies ARE meat eaters. I got to a dead budgie the other day AFTER my other budgies had got to her first. What was left ? They had eaten her feet, her chest, all of her beak, half her head, her brain, eyes etc. There wasnt much left :rofl: Is it possible this is what happened to yours ?

An interesting topic this though isnt it Thanks for your explanation I have some mixes as you know...my spangle greywings....I wouldnt have a clue where they would go. They dont look spangle and they dont really look fully greywing either. So I keep them at home and will breed from them as they are better than their greywing siblings in my opinion.

My question isnt about why you would put spangle into a recessive line as we know thats to increase size etc. My question was why would you enter a spangle recessive pied in the recessive part of a show. Why show the spangle pied ?

As LB suggested ......... and definitely the beetroot and also wedges of lemon and orange Peppermint tree branches Hibiscus branches leaves and flowers. are you doing any soft food ? An easy to prepare soft food for budgies consists of ( quantities in PARTS as I make a large quantity for my budgies ) 2 parts rolled oats or quick cook porridge oats. 1 part egg and biscuit 1 part dry fine/medium polenta 1/2 part budgie starter 1/2 part budgie seed 3 scoops ( Tablespoons ) powdered whole egg ( optional or substitute ) 2 scoops Whey protein ( optional ) 1 scoop wheatgerm calcivet Mix all with water to a porridge consistency and serve.

I use spot on ivermectin once for treatment of mites on an affected bird. I see it, I catch it, I treat it. I ivermectin any incoming birds because they are in my hand and then into a quarantine cage. Once in the aviary the treatment is every 3 months they get S76 in their water for mites and worms. re the food...you are doing great. I wouldnt feed the celery or lettuce......all water little nutritional value. Try darker leafy veg.

Ratzy.....I'm sorry but I have to agree 100% with Dave...at least find new good homes for the other babies if you dont have the space/ are not allowed to keep them first..... Take the eggs and the nest box away from all the birds until you have your parents 100% support...it's not fair on the young chicks.... You don't have to breed budgies to enjoy them.... I'm sorry , but this is my opinion... I agree....it all pointless to allow another clutch when you havent found solutions for the first clutch. It breeding for the sake of it.
