  1. The pied is gorgeous Kirby. I love his colouring!!!! I'd love to get the grey spangle male on the first page. I guess I'm going to have to come to Ontario to find birds!!!!

Welcome. Would love to see some pics of your flock. They sound wonderful!
  3. I know we have many discussions on here about yellowface in the past. I must say this mutation continues to confuse me. I thought that if a budgies colour was an aqua (turquoise) it was a YF2. And the reason is because the yellow was bleeding into the body turning the blue into the turquoise colour. The yf1 had yellow only on the face and the body remained sky blue? But I have a recessive pied who definately has yellow bleeding into the body, but the colour remains cobalt. So.... I'm confused.

    Very pretty bird!!!

Great shots!!! I love the ones of the two of them snoozing. SO cute! I love it when my guys tuck their heads under. With 12 there always seems to be one taking a few minutes for a snooze.

Great pics. Do they play much with their toys? The acrylic hanging thing looks cool.
  8. Wow! Wish I could fly over and bring back some spangles :fear Can't wait for the updates.
  9. Here are Bella and Max both with droopy tail after her clips. I don't notice it now that their flights are growing in.

Yes, they do look very similar! I'm with Lovey - the YF recessives are all so cute!!!
  11. Talk to your vet and see what s/he says. Perhaps you can make modifications to the cage so the little one has some flat surfaces. Some of my budgies prefer to sit on this little feeding house I have in their cage, rather than on the perch. I think there are some members here who have, or have had disable budgies. Perhaps they might have some suggestions. My thoughts are with you.
  12. Some of mine do this too. I noticed it most with Max who was clipped. Haven't noticed it as much lately with his flights growing back. I too was a little concerned but he didn't seemed bothered otherwise.
  13. Kirby, If you end up buying from the lady with the shed, can you ask her if you can take some pics. I would consider something like that instead of an aviary which probably won't work so well in Canada. Can't wait to see what you get. You know I love yf spangles!!!
  14. She is a pretty one! Not to get off topic but why isn't she yellow face? I thought that YF was dominant? Can someone explain the genetics for me on that one please. Thanks!
  15. Great new name. Sounds like it fits her personality perfectly!
  16. Oh I want to come visit too!!!!! What a discrepency in size between those two. Do you know how much Buddha wieghs?
  17. OMG! I love them. As much as I love spangles, that greywing fella is awesome. You'll have to get Ken to snap a picture of you with the budgies in your hair. That would be cool to see!

It's been awhile since I've posted pics of the whole gang. They are all living in the big cage and everyone is getting along famously. No more plucking of poor Jewel and Bella has settled in nicely. Here are some in the cage shots. Look at how handsome my recessive pied boys are. Romeo is really getting yellow all over. Beka has lost some weight. She has that nice lean body structure now. I didn't do anything much. Just got rid of the veggie/fruit enriched seed. Now they get basic seed mix and fresh veggies. She's also looking stubby these days. A lot of them are in full moult and have lost their tail feathers. My sweet babies Jewel and Max. These two are in love or at least the best of buds. Someday I will probably breed them. Bella and Max. Her flights are starting to grow back and you can see the spangle tracing on them. I'm starting to wonder if she is cinammon. Her tips look brown compared to Tweety's which are very grey. Wylie finally braved coming out of the cage on his own. He is eating millet here. You can see a seed dropping if you look closely. Tweety hanging upside down for millet. Must be good! Max's yellow is really starting to bleed into the body. He is a multitude of colours right now. Don't worry! I'm watching their little toes. The budgies below aren't much for nibbling their mates. I tried to capture Tazzy in natural light so you can see his violet tummy. He always looks blue when the flash is one. He is such a pretty budgie. Big Sylvester. He loves out of cage time. He zips around everywhere.

They are lovely Lin. What did the parents do? It looks like his cere is injured. Were they pecking him? Poor little guy. Well glad he found you!

I love spangles. It looks like a female cobalt spangle on my monitor. Lucky you. Can't wait to see more pictures.
