Is She Opaline?
Sometimes it is easier to see the opaline gene further away then close up especially when the marking are so light , I agree it is very common to have both.

Loopyness Is Genetic.
well they bred dogs for temperment and disposition I can't see how it is any different then budgies, it seems that when you breed budgies you are breeding for look more then good temperment, I wonder what would happen if you decided to bred for tameness and temperment vs look .

Budgie With Red Feathers
I agree here with everyone. A grey budgie with no white or yellow? Not possible people have been trying to do it for years. Red is not in their genetic make-up for some reason.

About Easley Clearbody
Click on this it takes you to more information that people posted about them http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....asley+clearbody The one article clearly states it is a dominant gene so 1 of the parents needs to be visual is that so with your pairs? Mr Easley did inform me that the present Easley Clearbody did not resemble the mutation his father established. The present Easley Clearbody (referred to sometimes as Laced Clearbody) generally has jet black wing markings, flight feathers, tail feathers and mask spots because of the excess black melanin. Their cheek patches are a shade of grey/silver regardless of their body colour. The body colour also tends to have less suffusion as found with the Texas mutation. However, Tom Easley did say that the cheek patches of the original stock were pale violet. http://www.bestofbreeds.net/al-nasser/article8.htm Looking at your bird I would go with a TCB because it does not match the description of an Easley. I also believe your bird is an opaline too by the V on the back.

Is She Opaline?
Do you have a picture of her further away sometimes it is easier to see but I know if they don't have the V they are not opalines that is what makes them opaline.

Yf2 Or Goldenface?
Greywing will make the wings grey and the body a 50% dilute if he is a Full Body Greywing it would make his wings grey and his body 100% color strength (which is bright and regular color). You used flash on these pictures an flash will alter the coloring making a dilute look bright a blue look too purple, black wings look brown. The best way to take pictures is to use natural lighting when the sun is out with no flash. Also here is an article that was posted on BBC about Understanding the Violet Gene, it is PINNED under Mutations. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=12367

First Pair Of Show Birds
Violet is an added factor in coloring just like Grey. The bird can carry 1 violet gene or 2 violet gene. It is very difficult to know if they are single factor (1 gene) or a double factor (2 genes) and can only be proved at time by breeding the bird out. You can have the violet gene on blue birds and on green birds. For example: this is a regular cobalt (greywing too) Here is a visual cobalt with the violet gene this is my Merlin I don't know if he is a single or a double, I could figure it out if I knew his heritage which I don't or by breeding him out.
