First completely ignore the biting episode no matter how much it hurts. Budgies love reactions Merlin bites me too at times and I blow on his face lightly and it stops him and then reward him with millet. Works like a charm but only reward after the behavior has stopped. Others I have read flick their beaks very lightly and then again reward when the bad behavior has stopped.
  7. Very sorry to hear about him. I would advise watching your other birds closely and possibly ringing the vet so you can ensure this illness was not passed out and you loose your whole flock.
  8. Budgies sense of smell is not very good so I would say no. Do you use a spray bottle for bathing if not this is an excellent way to teach them to stay off. If you use a spray bottle for bathing or for fun I would say don't do it because you don't want them to be scared of the spray bottle. I personally did it with Pretty and he got the point .
  9. Oh Bea I am so sorry to hear about her going down hill so fast you are a wonderful budgie mum and I know you will made the best decision for her. BIG hugs
  10. The best diet is a variety diet and I keep my pellets in the freezer for quite awhile because it keeps them fresh. So 30% pellets/30% seeds and then veggies/fruits. Birds are stubborn I know my Merlin is he eats around the crushed pellets at least. It can take up to a year or more to get them to eat it. As for the water and the vitamins, Merlin never new the difference maybe try a different type of vitamin supplement in the water? Or his bath water if he likes to bathe. The green lime poo doesn't sound promising and if it were me yes I would take him to the ER. Pretty died suddenly, and I don't mean to scare you but that is what happened to me. Bea had some boughts here and there with Oz you may want to PM her for some advice too as he was getting sick here and there and had a hard time figuring it out too. Keep us update.

Did you place it on top of the sand? It is an awesome idea my concern would be dampness between the sand and the lino causing mold, algae or bacteria build up.
  12. keep us update I hope she is okay if she is not better or doesn't pass the egg I would get her to the vet ASAP I know there is something in our FAQ about being eggbound too
  13. Oh that reminds me of Pretty when he used to sing to himself so sweetly, isn't that a wonderful sound and they are so cute.
  14. what a smart boy, it is great to see pics of Bobby, I always enjoying seeing him he has such a wonderful personality
  15. Oh I am so happy they had a great time with their new find. Great pics!
  16. I am very sorry to hear that Lukie is sick again. I bet it is something that he carrying. Does he seem to get ill right after a molt or a stressful time in his life? I know you put that he won't eat pellets, so you know I had Harrison pellets and I kept them in the freezer to keep them fresh and smashed them up they last much longer then just a few weeks. How does he do with his veggies and such? He really needs to be on more of a seed diet, even giving him Vitamin high in A is a good start because that is what is most lacking in their diets. Brocolli, Kale, Spinach are all a good source. Keep us updated.

  20. Some suggestions for fluids to give: Infalyte brand infant electrolyte solution, apple or grape juice, D5W (medical glucose/saline solution), bottled water with a little sugar or honey. Don't use Gatorade, it's too high in salt! Hope she is feeling better hugs.
  21. How old is the hen? Has she ever bred and raised a clutch before? Is she in breeding condition?
