  1. I can't answer any of your question maybe on of our more experience breeders such as Daz, Kaz or feathers can help you out. Hugs and prayers for Lukie
  2. Very glad to see he is improving...hugs
  3. hears to hoping the little one pulls through there certainly would be wonderful to have a miracle happen. thank you for the update.
  4. Gotcha but that last babies spot is pretty good size at least to me, yes the first one totally I wouldn't get confused.
  5. They are so spoiled you can see it and look wonderful!! Great to see your flock again
  6. Elly replied to Bea's topic in Budgie Pictures
How can you not fall for Cookie's charming ways Merlin would talk to the silverware too (Laughing out loud)...he loves flirting with bells and such. Great pics Bea!!
  7. How cold is your house?
  8. I have tears and I am so sorry Bea. BIG HUGS. Fly free sweet girl...she was a beautiful budgie.
  9. I agree with Aly perfect for the single budgie with outside flight time. If you decide to get more then 1 budgie you will have to upgrade to a bigger size. Congrats!
  10. Can sure make it confusing for us dominant pied lovers....(Laughing out loud) Actually thank you Kaz for those pics the babies are sweet
  11. Yes you can keep pellets in the freezer for a least 6 months, call the company and they can tell you for sure. I am glad Lukie is feeling better. I agree with Aly that there is some underlying bug there in his system and when his immunity goes done it affects him. Keep us updated!
  12. I am so sorry Saffy is such a special part of our BBC community. Please keep us updated, big hugs.
  13. Good question....how is the birdie and are they going to pursue this man for animal cruelity?
  14. What age group are the girls? I missed that part? You have some great advice and feel free to use information from our FAQ section. I agree about not letting the bird out. Hands, schools etc...have many germs.
  15. Very Cool Paul...I am still trying to figure how to get her here to Ohio
  16. I would say that is noisest here for Merlin too and budgies love to make noise. When you have guests they tend to be even louder because the guests are loud. You can put them in a different room or cover them for the event.
  17. Good for her it is wonderful to see such a compassion in children. My daughter is very compassionate about animals as I am. I remember when we went to the avian vet and took Merlin in after Pretty passed away she wanted to know everything and she is only 6. She still talks about Pretty and sheds tears for him. Her heart is going to be broke as mine is with abuse, throw away animals and such stories but it only makes you more aware and stronger!! Kiddos to Katie!!!
  18. Olive and Liliac All babies will be green unless your Olive is split to blue and then you will have a 50% chance of blues/greens. Liliac if she is a violet, if she is a single factor 1/2 the babies would carry the violet gene and if she is a double factor violet 100% of the babies would carry the violet gene. That means if all the babies are green yes they can carry the violet gene. Both birds look opaline which means you would have 100% opaline babies Liliac is a clearflight dominant pied so 1/2 the babies would be clearflights and the 1/2 normals. Of course there are always surprised is the dad is carrying any other sex-linked genes such as ino or cinnamon and any recessive genes that both birds carry. olive x cloud All the babies will be green unless Olive is split to blue All babies will be normals which mean look like Olive BUT if Olive is split for recessive pied then you have a 50% chance of visual recessive pied and the others will be split for the recessive pied gene. Any opaline babies you get will be hens because they will get this gene from their dad. You said Clouds wings are grey so she could be a greywing and in that case if Olive is carrying the greywing gene you would have a chance of greywings also. If I missed anything someone will come in and correct...these are just ratios remember there can always be surprises.
  19. I am so sorry I can relate to you. Pretty died 5 months ago and he would have turned 2 just around now. I always think what did I do, what could have have done better? Merlin is friend is okay and never got sick. I don't know it is and I can't make any evidence toward anything Pretty was from a pet store and Merlin was a rescused baby that we adopted. You will never know unless an autopsy is done and then at time you still don't know per the vet. A lot of it is diet with and I have read in many different books and articles that most birds are lacking in Vitamin A and more because they are fed a seed diet. Lacking in different vitamins can cause them to have immune system break downs. Who knows... My heart goes out to you.
