Oh look at them Pretty is so angelic whilst Merlin is so manly. I do have a soft spot for normal cobalts though they are super yummy.

The bread is fine but Im not entirely sure about the milk Ive heard that birds cant digest dairy products. I use lots of recipe which need milk for my Grey so I usually use soya milk as this is dairy free and should be lots better.
  6. Hath, I went to a bird sale in February at Newark so not all were stopped. I think its perfectly safe to buy a budgie or whatever birdie your after.

Barnslee my tiel has yellow poops quite often and I find its when she has been munching on her cuttle fish a lot. Dunno if that helps. Mine only have egg once a week but havent noticed yellow poops.
  8. I dont think there was ever a risk of buying new birds in Britain, as long as they came from here in the first place.
  9. Oh then its not that then, they usually hit that stage at around 3-4 months. But its all the symptons of a stroppy teenage budgie.
  10. Sounds to me that he is going through his terrible teens period. How old is Pippin?

Grr I have a hen who is almost the same - except she throws everyone around the cage not just one individual. Luckily the others know what she is like and keep out of her way mostly. I wonder why she is just picking on him?

Awww Bea poor birdies. At least it was only 4 days. I bet the aviary birdies were glad of their veggies today eh?
  13. I have been using full spectrum lighting since I got Monty. Just a word of warning - those lightbulbs get HOT!!

Ive had birds who have done the odd greyish light poop and none of them have been sick. Although the occasional odd one to me is okay of course if its constant I would seek a vet. Have you tried ACE High powder vitamin I sprinkle a pinch on seed or egg food once a week and even more so when they are moulting. I find it helps.

No he will be joining the rest of the budgie flock after quarantine. I'll try tame him as best as I can but having an African Grey stuck to you most of the time might prove hard work hehe.

okay so here is new new BABY Alfie. He isnt very tame as yet but hey are any of my budgies hehe. He looks sky in this picture but he is light cobalt really. He is just a normal mutation aswell. Isnt he lovely.

Yep fine Woodie, I feed a mixed bean mix to my larger parraot and often offer it to the budgies too - although they turn their noses up at it but are allowed them. I woud mash them up with other things though - maybe some mashed sweet potato or rice.
  20. Hehe oh Heidi is a drama queen and screams if someone sits within a metre of her hehe. Beano was even worse god rest his soul. My little Chip is an angel and doesnt make a fuss so I think we will be sorted pretty quickly I just hope it doesnt hurt him I dont want him to lose his trust. All the other budgies have hehe.
  21. Thank Karen although I have no forceps and have no idea where to get them from this late in the day - the tweezers will have to do. Boomhubby has pliers if that fails. My poor baby Chip - he is a big boy and totally tame so shouldnt be as hard as giving syringe meds to my wild Heidi and he probably wont scream the house down either hehe.
  22. Yeah like I said I did it with one of my tiels when she half plucked it herself but I did it by hand and it easily came out. This looks really thick. But I guess if its gotta come out then it has. I will invest in a new clean pair of tweezers on my way home. Will it come out as easily as Barnslees or not I dont wanna be yanking on it for ages. I will update on Monday and hopefully have piccies of my big show budgie boy. Hopefully a little less red hehe.
  23. Yep I thought so. Ive done it before with Barnslee but it just came out easily - this looks REALLY thick and could even be 2 seperate feathers I need to get a closer look. I dont mind doing it myself but I dont wanna cause him any pain and I dont want him knocking himself all the time and causing the bleeding again he lost enough blood today grrrr.
  24. My new baby Chip had quite a severe bleed this morning I covered the poor sweetheart in cornflour to stop wherever the bleeding was coming from - it was definitely a feather just couldn't make out which one it was with all the blood. Anyways a couple of hours later I cleaned him up and found a snapped blood feather. I havent as yet done anything about it as its a really thick one at the front of his wing and looks really painful if I pluck it. Will this grow out naturally if I do leave it or am I gonna have to yank it i dont want to hurt my baby. He is sooo calm though even after all the stress he did a perfect formed poop on me hehe.
  25. He looks fine to me Elly. I clipped Noo's wings almost the same and he cant get any uplift he can only manage a slight flutter - they really need those long flights. I still thing part of the problem was he was clipped before he even learnt to fly.
