Keeping Three Birds
I had an issue with 3 budgies and they were all male. I have to disagree that I think an even number works much better .

In my opinion if you have cats you shouldnt have birds. One slight mistake on either of their parts would 99% surely end in disaster. That is however my opinion on the subject- Injured Budgie Question
That budgie is definitely a girl.- How Much Sleep?
I guess it depends on your lifestyle. I work a full day so my birdies are uncovered at 5am so they can have an hour and a half out time before I go to work. The budgies and tiels are covered up by 7.30/8.00pm and Monty (CAG) half an hour later because he needs his Mummy cuddles.- Too Much Hormones
I dont think advising Bea to breed Blinkie just because his hormones are racing is a very sensible idea. Getting him a girlfriend is easy to see but could make him worse. Thats what happened to one of my tiels. Blinkie is an indoor pet bird and I think that would be a terrible mistake to 'get him a girlfriend' as you are saying. I dont know the actual answer to cure him buttt that option well its not an option.- To Cold For Me!
A warm draft is perfectly fine!- Heya All!
I wold let the bird clean it itsself you really dont want to aggrevate any other close by blood feathers - bird are very hygenic creatures!- What Brand Of Bird Food Would You Prefer
Bad genetics are a MAJOR part of budgies dying young thats for sure! I fed Trill up until a while ago. Im just using a Pets At Home Nutritional Brand for now. But Im planning on doing my own mix. Any advice what I should be adding and whats not necessary.- Eating Poo!
One of my cockatiels eats poo all the time but she is just a dirty girl :offtopic: Could be a baby thing that he will grow out of.- Changing The Cage Around
Either that or buy a bunch of males :offtopic:- Merlin And How Is He?
Unexpected is always the worst and thats the problem with these little birdies - the little imps mostly give us no warning at all- Merlin And How Is He?
He was, he is and always will be Elly. There isn't much else to say other than that because I know how it hurts and how hard it is to believe you wont feel like you do forever. You wont- Merlin And How Is He?
Its tough VERY tough - but Elly it will get easier I promise you that. I can look at pictures of my late budgies now and smile at the memories rather than cry. You will too in time. Merlin will be just fine in time.- Merlin And How Is He?
Budgies grieve for sure. I had my fair share of grieving budgies last year so I know exactly how hard it is for you Elly. When we lost Tobi Girl. Max her mate found it tough - you know its been almost 8 months since she passed and today I still see a look of sadness in his eyes at times. He loved that girl we all did. I think it didn't hit them so much when Beano and Bobby died as when I came home and found them - the rest were just playing as usual - how inconsiderate grrr. But bonded budgies grieve Im 100% sure of that!- Changing The Cage Around
Well lucky for me Ive 2 very large budgies cages and I had to swap birdies around until I got the right mix who didn't fight. Youve got 4 hens so its not as easy as splitting them and housing them with half males like Ive done. Could it be hormonal time for them and thats whats making them more misbehaved than usual?- Changing The Cage Around
Ann, I have a cage a zillion times bigger than that with the same amount of budgies in and they still fight at bedtime grrr. Its the hens that fight too the males are usually happy to sleep anywhere - but even in a huge cage the two hens want to same spot.- I Have Some Very, Very Sad News!
Im so sorry Elly.- Mr Ozzie's Sick
Im glad he is doing okay but the weight loss is definitely a mystery unless he is pining for his Blinkie hehe.- Mr Ozzie's Sick
How is Ozzie Bea?- Here We Go Again
I think toys for the bottom of the cage are a great idea - mine love to play football with those little plastic balls with bells in - just make sure they are cleaned regularly! - Keeping Budgies With Cats
