For future reference......just wondering what the age limits are for fostering.... I realize all hens will be different, but general rule of thumb? Newly hatched chicks can be fostered only to newly hatched chicks? or up to a week old? If eggs are a few days off hatching can you put a fodter chick in that nest? Common sense tells me you couldn't put a day old chick with a 3 week old clutch...or can you? I'm not having this problem at the moment but just wanting to know...... Thanks!

If there is a cream colour then there is food in there, if there was no food it would be flat and pink.Just leave mum for a few hours now with no one looking at her, baby has food so thats good.Do you have any egg and biscuit that you can give mum to help her out? Is there any cream colour in the crop? or is it just pink? Can you foster the chick to another nest with same aged chicks?

Hi Houman..... My budgie hen I had years ago that talked, didn't do many "tricks" but she used to dance as well...it was so cute I started by whistling a tune and using my finger like a conductor :bliss: , she used to bob her head up and down from side to side......she loved it !!

I think you just hit the nail on the head Kaz..."back to basics".. The blokes a tool Kaz.... If that Vet had any real thought for Maggie and her babies and not the $$ he gets from the Pet food company, surely the worst thing for her at the moment would be a change in diet... :bliss: especially that cra* !! Home cooked fresh food verses canned ears / noses and leftover muck they scrape off the floor???? Do what your gut say's Kaz, glad you gave the Vet the flick, you know whats best and so does Maggie.... Good girl Maggie !!! Kisses from me sweetheart!!
